    Are you down with it?

The Patagonia Women's Down With It Parka digs warm times in cold cities. Down insulation gives the jacket a toasty feel with lightweight loft, and you can trace the jacket's down back to birds that were never force-fed or live-plucked. Patagonia treated the recycled polyester shell with a DWR finish to shield you from snow and light precipitation. A hood provides additional protection when the wind begins to blow, and can be removed for a more streamlined look on calm days. Zippered hand pockets let you keep your phone and gloves secure when you pop into your local coffee shop for a warm drink. With a longer cut, the Down With It Parka keeps you warm from your head to your knees as you enjoy the season.

    Tight across the shoulders

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 120lbs

I like the coat and seems very warm. There is just not enough room in the shoulders to be comfortable with any kind of shirt except a dri-fit. I usually wear a medium, so I am returning it and ordering a large. The length of the sleeves is fine, just wish is was roomier in the shoulders.

    Simply amazing. And very warm.

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Almost too warm at times! I love everything about this jacket. There isn’t anything negative to say. It’s stylish, comfortable, durable, and WARM! I find myself wearing it even on days when it’s not as cold as it needs to be to have it on bc I love it so much. If you need a very warm coat - get this.

    Wasn't what expected

I really wanted to love this coat but there are some issues. Although it is extremely warm, the sleeves are too short and the hood doesn't come out past your face-- which both are huge issues if you live in a very cold climate with snow. For an relatively expensive jacket the little things need to be tweaked.

    Amazing coat

Just right warm not heavy cozy perfect and so flattering the best winter coat I have ever had .thank you so much back country I love it so much!😊

    Great Coat

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size

I LOVE this coat, i wear it everyday because it is so comfy and perfect for the frigid NY weather! totally worth the cost, very impressed by the quality!

-ONE issue, is that it is not as easy to clean as I anticipated. Unfortunately i had a run in with some grease, and seems near impossible to remove from this fabric, so if anyone has advice on how to remove grease from this jacket PLEASE let me know! -thanks... But i recommend those (like myself) who always want to keep their jackets on, DO NOT keep on when eating dinner, or popcorn at the (always cold) theaters, or in the kitchen.

    - I have only had this jacket for 1 week
    - great fit
    - great feel
    - great for the weather!

    More than happy!!!

I purchased this for my wife for Christmas, and this jacket hits it out of the park!! She hasn’t taken it off since she unwrapped it. Very warm and stylish jacket that I can highly recommend. Also Backcountry truly impressed me with the customer service on the purchase of this product. I will be a customer well into the future!!!!

      Warm in cold cities-check!

I bought this coat for a recent trip to NYC, it kept me warm and comfortable walking around day and night. It has the perfect length and sturdy snaps and zippers. The only thing that would have made it better for me is a fur lined hood.

        Ethical and Warm

        • Height: 5'11"
        • Weight: 165lbs

I bought this coat for my mom for a couple of reasons. #1 it is warm and the down is lightweight making it a really nice jacket with a great warmth to weight ratio. #2 this down is ethical unlike many other coats. The feathers are not live-plucked which means my vegetarian eating mother will know her style aligns with her values. Combining these two with Patagonia's iron-clad gurantee, this jacket was a real winner on Christmas morning when she opened it up.

        Love This Jacket!!

        • Size Bought: Small
        • Height: 5'3"
        • Weight: 100lbs

so happy I purchased this jacket! I always wear a size small in Patagonia and this jacket fits like all my other Patagonia jackets! I am 5’3” , 100 pounds and it’s not tight and I can layer it with a sweater or sweatshirt, it also comes down to my knees which I love! I’d say it’s worth the price tag!

        Great coat!

I bought this for my daughter, who attends University of Vermont, for walking around campus/Burlington in the frigid winter. She loves the coat, and says it is very comfortable, long enough to protect her whole body (to mid thigh...maybe slightly longer) from the elements, and toasty warm. She is usually a small but sized up so a fleece/sweater would feel comfortable.

        SO AMAZING

        • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Small
        • Height: 5'4"
        • Weight: 135lbs

This is a seriously awesome jacket. It fits well (not boxy like most Patagonia fits), the arms are a good length 9with again, a is a Patagonia problem), and it SO warm. I have never had a jacket that it was too hot to wear at any point during the winter other than this jacket. It's awesome and totally worth the price tag.

Update! I loved mine so much, I got one for my mom for xmas, and she's as obsessed as me. I might not have communicated this in my initial writing, but this is my favorite jacket everywhere if I could ski in it and not look like a dork, I would. I every day its even close to cold enough to wear, because it is so nice. And when its really cold, I'm so thankful I have it.

I finally found THE perfect coat!

I’ve been searching for a warm coat that doesn’t fit like a box and this one is perfect! I live in MA and this one is perfect for the cold weather. I did size up to a medium based on the reviews (I’m 5’5” and 135) and the size is perfect. I’m warm enough with just a thin shirt but I can wear extra layers under it if needed. As some reviewers have mentioned, the sleeves are slim fitting but not uncomfortable or too tight at all.

          Cozy and not too marshmallowy

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times
          • Fit: True to size
          • Size Bought: Xs
          • Height: 5'4"
          • Weight: 120lbs

I bought an xs... I’m 5’4”, 120 pounds with a 32” bust, 23” waist and 36” hips. The coat goes down to a couple inches above my knees, and fits well with the exception of slight snugness in the shoulders. I have tried on North Face and a few other brands and found Patagonia to be the best for the price... durable fabric, nice fleece lined pockets and collar. I have worn it on 15-20 degree days here in Wisconsin and found it to be cozy thus far. It is WAY more flattering than the Marmot Montreaux, which I loved the quality, but definitely looked like a fluffy puff marshmallow.

Fabulous parka but sizing template bad

          • Size Bought: small and medium
          • Height: 5'2"
          • Weight: 110lbs

I love this parka. I am so disappointed that I cannot have one! bought the size small and it was tight under the arms. Returned. Bought the medium. Great on top but huge on bottom. The sizing template seems to have changed to accommodate women with larger bottoms. This isn't just Patagonia -- I experienced this with coats from Canada Goose and others. And I have read similar comments on other brands. I am convinced-- the manufacturers have revised their patterns to accommodate broader women. I don't know where to look for a coat! My 15 year old parka, which fits perfectly, will have to keep going.

          Beautiful Quality but Runs Small

          • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
          • Fit: Runs small
          • Size Bought: Small
          • Height: 5'4"
          • Weight: 116lbs

I normally wear a size 2-4 regular so I ordered the small. For me this coat fit perfect through the shoulders with more than enough length in the sleeves but was too tight through the hips (my hips 35"). I have long legs and a high waist and I think If I was just a couple of inches taller it would have fit me perfectly. Wish it came in a Petite.

          Warm and comfortable

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
          • Fit: True to size
          • Size Bought: Medium
          • Height: 5'6"
          • Weight: 140lbs

I bought this coat over four months ago and have been beyond happy with it. I live in Maryland and it has been great for the winter here. I can wear it with just a T-shirt or long sleeve shirt underneath and be perfectly warm. I like that I don’t need a bunch of layers underneath. The hood is really convenient too.

          Finally the Perfect Down Parka!

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
          • Fit: True to size
          • Size Bought: XS
          • Height: 5'4"
          • Weight: 120lbs

I love this jacket. I searched FoReVeR to find the right down coat. I tried Marmot, OR, Lole - and Patagonia "Down With It" is perfect! It's long enough, sleeves are the perfect length, the hood covers a little of my forehead, super warm, and lightweight. I can easily fit a sweater underneath. I also like that it's more tapered at the waist I live in Northern Minnesota (so -40 temps.) and this keeps me super warm..

          Love this coat!

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times
          • Fit: Runs small
          • Size Bought: Medium
          • Height: 5'4"
          • Weight: 120lbs

I bought the "Patagonia Down With it Parka" to get a warm and more light weight winter coat! I wear size 4, and I'm 5' 4" and 120 lbs. I first ordered a small but it was to tight around my hips, I exchanged it for a Medium (Navy) and perfect fit! I can wear a sweater underneath or just a T-shirt and find that I stay plenty warm. It has been worn with wind chill of -20 below to 40 degrees and I've been very comfortable. I love it so much that I have ordered a shorter coat for short errands where I will be in and out of the car! Between the two coats, I think they will get me thru until spring! I would highly recommend this coat!

Is this coat actually knee length? I am 5'6.

          Tanja,

This is knee length, so it should be right, for your height. If it's not what you need, though, the Downtown parka will definitely be long enough. If this is the case, please call or email me directly for assistance.

I want to exchange my Patagonia coat for another style - do I have to pay shipping charges to send my coat back?

does this coat have interior wrist cuffs to seal out the cold?

No it doesn't. The cuffs are just plain, sewed like a tee-shirt cuff and no elastics or anything so I suppose cold air could get in (it's not wide open, at least on me, so I'm not too worried about that but I don't have the smallest wrists nor skinny arms!).
