    The ultimate jacket.

Consider the Patagonia Women's Down Sweater Jacket as a Jane of All Trades, if you will. This jacket touts a versatile construction that makes it ideal for early-season ice climbing, mid-winter skiing, or casually wearing in cool winter temperatures. As its name suggests, the Down Sweater is equipped with lightweight and compressible 800-fill Traceable Down, meaning the geese whose feathers insulate this jacket are never force-fed or live-plucked. Additionally, the down insulation is certified by NSF, an independent third party.

Down insulation is fine and dandy, but it's virtually useless without a little extra protection—which is why the designers at Patagonia outfitted the jacket with a durable recycled ripstop exterior that safeguards your core warmth, without compromising the jacket's lightweight constitution. And to bolster your defense, a DWR treatment easily sheds light moisture, so you stay warm and comfortable no matter what Mother Nature throws your way. Horizontal baffles are sewn through to prevent the down from shuffling around, meaning you stay warmer, longer, while the updated, contoured fit and slightly longer hem length double down on your protection. Additionally, zippered hand pockets keep small necessities close by and secure, and an internal chest pocket easily converts into a stuff sack for the jacket.

    • A versatile, warm jacket for climbing or casual wear

    • DWR treatment sheds light moisture

    The only coat I wear

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'3"
    • Weight: 127lbs

This is hands down my favorite coat. It’s warm, yet light. I have been wearing these for about 5 years and they are awesome. I wear them in 50 degree weather and 20 degree weather, and it never disappoints! I’m in Alabama, so it doesn’t get much below that, but I’m sure it would be a great layering piece in colder weather.

    Great!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: s
    • Height: 5'3"
    • Weight: 120lbs

I have had this jacket for about two years now.. and I still love it! I especially love that it doesn't have a hood (alleviates the bulkiness for sure). This jacket is super lightweight- and surprisingly warm!

    Choose your use!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 150lbs

A very versatile jacket that is fashionable and functional. I bought this as a gift and have received the feedback from my gift receivers. The feedback they have shared has been largely used as a winter campus jacket to keep them warm in Colorado Springs- which if it can keep you warm in the springs, you'll love this jacket most other places. Not only is it cozy to wear as an outer layer but also plenty packable and slim to wear as a very warm mid layer. sizing is true to fit.

    Fashionista Daughter Loves It!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

Bought this for my 16 y.o. daughter for her birthday and she absolutely loves it. Super light, but still warm for windy VA mountain winter nights. She never leaves the house without it.

    Quality

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: Runs large
    • Height: 5'4"
    • Weight: 135lbs

This is my first Patagonia purchase. I was very disappointed in the quality of the zippers and the warmth. I am returning the jacket for a refund.

    The best puffy

    • Fit: Runs large

I think this is the best Patagonia jacket, it is a little bulkier but super warm. It holds in heat and I haven't had to wear any under shirts with it even in super cold weather. Runs a little big, I sized down, but otherwise it's an amazing jacket.

Still obsessed with it 2 winters in

    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: M

I drooled over my cousin's grey version of this for a year before I finally broke down and got one for myself. It is my go to jacket for the winter. While I have a parka for heavier winter, this coat is perfect for everything from a slight windy night till the weather starts dropping significantly. With a bit of layering, I can wear it in even colder weather. This is also a great jacket for traveling, because it can be compressed to a small size and easily fits in a backpack. When I spent 5 weeks backpacking in Europe, this was the perfect jacket for higher altitude hikes and colder nights. I can't recommend this jacket enough and I am trying to justify buying it again in a second color. In terms of sizing, I would recommend trying one on if you are well-endowed as the jacket doesn't have a lot of stretch. I had to go up a size to accommodate my chest.

fits well with room for layers

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XS
    • Height: 5'6"
    • Weight: 125lbs

I bought the size xs and am 5'6" 125#. It fits loose enough to have a sweatshirt/sweater underneath and with just a t-shirt it's pretty roomy. The pesto color is amazing, better in person than on the website with a soft gray mixed into the green. I have standard arm length and this arm length is sufficient but wouldn't want it any shorter.

    Puff-tastic

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 145lbs

I'm a big fan of the Patagonia Down Sweater. It is a great insulating layer that packs down nicely for travel. It doesn't take up much room in a bag. This jacket is super versatile. It can be used as an outer layer in the fall/winter. Or as a middle insulating layer on those super frigid days. True to size. Five stars!

    Great fall and winter jacket!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'5"
    • Weight: 125lbs

My girlfriend loves this jacket, as she takes it almost everywhere during the winter, and on camping trips in the summer! The perfect weight and layer to wear underneath a jacket, this super warm lightweight option is her all time favorite. The fit is stylish and comfortable. And you know you are getting quality with Patagonia!

    Warm, super lightweight

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: XXS
    • Height: 5'5"
    • Weight: 100lbs

This jacket was perfect for my backpacking trip in the Colorado wilderness - super lightweight and packed down real small but kept me toasty when the sun was down. I bought the XXS and it is definitely the bulkiest XXS item I have (I could fit it over a thin long sleeve and my fleece) but it's also a down jacket so it's not exactly a slimming item. It's still reasonably attractive if you're worried about that though and I expect to wear it around the city as well.

    Lighweight Warmth

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 140lbs

Great insulating layer for all your adventures, works great as a casual jacket as well. Offers lots of warmth for a very lightweight jacket!

    So warm and light weight

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'7"
    • Weight: 135lbs

This style is known for being lightweight and warm. Idle for traveling since it can be easily folded. I wish I would have ordered the coat with a hood, but the one without is okay too. It absorbs moisture really well! It fits true to size, I ordered a medium, and I have plenty of room. I went up a size so I can wear a sweatshirt underneath of it during the cold Midwest winter. If I wanted a fitted jacket, I could have ordered a small and it would have fit fine. I am 5'7", chest 32', waist 26', and hips 38'.

    Love this jacket!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'5"
    • Weight: 158lbs

Arkansas weather doesn't get super cold in the winter, but cold enough to need a nice jacket. This is perfect for everything from 20 degrees to 50 and cool outside. I love the material and fit and am looking forward to wearing it again this fall and winter season. I love the navy blue color I choose. Maybe next year I'll get another just to have a second color. :)

    Unanswered Question

If my jacket has holes and has lost down, but has a lifetime warranty how do I go about exchanging it?

Can I wash this jacket or dry clean it? Recently, our AC shut off while we were away . Because of the humidity, everything has Mildew damage or at least had that smell.

    Unanswered Question

I wore this jacket twice but I think it's a little too big. Can I exchange for a medium?

I just got this Patagonia Nano Puff Sweater Jacket. I love the light weight, the feel and the color but the sleeves are way too long and the body is a little too long. Does it come in a petite?

for the patagonia down sweater, what is the difference between the sumac red and the turkish red? is one brighter than the other?

    Best Answer

    Adela,

The Sumac Red is a more muted tone than the super-bright, more orange-y Turkish Red. Hope this helps-- feel free to give me a shout if you have any other questions! llabar@backcountry.com or 801-736-6399.

Is the Cochineal Red truly red or more orange-y? It's hard to tell from the photo.
