Svelte shape in a down sweater.

From late-fall belays to powder-filled days, the figure-flattering Women’s Down Sweater Full-Zip Hooded Jacket from Patagonia slips under a wind-blocking vest or a weatherproof shell and acts as a warming midlayer. It also packs up small for travel and works as a top layer for Chicago shopping forays. Down insulation packs a powerful punch of heat without weighing heavily on your shoulders or taking up too much space in your suitcase.

Recycled polyester ripstop inside and out fends off frisky twigs and grabby thorns to keep this jacket looking good for years on end. The 800-fill Traceable Down uses feathers from geese that were treated right their whole lives, from not being force-fed to staying fully feathered until after they've passed. Horizontal quilting keeps the insulation in line for consistent, all-over warmth, while the feminine silhouette provides flattering style. Between the svelte touch and the consciously responsible materials, you'll try to find a reason to wear this light jacket year-round.

    • Adapted for chilly belays and shoulder season hikes
    • 800-fill down from non force-fed or live-plucked geese
    • Durable shell fabric made from recycled material
    • Treated with a DWR finish to repel light rain and drizzle
    • Insulated hood with single-pull adjustable drawstring
    • Internal zippered chest pockets doubles as a stuff sack
    • Zippered pockets for stashing wallet, phone, or gloves
    • Contoured fit with longer hem length for additional coverage
    • Item #PAT00HZ

    A little long

      Women’s Patagonia down hoodie:
I love the fit of this jacket from the hood to the waist, but I feel this jacket is a little long. I had to hike it up a little to keep it under my shell. The warmth you get from such a light weight jacket is awesome though.

      Love

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 5'6"
      • Weight: 140lbs

I am a long-time Patagonia lover, and this jacket was nothing short of rad. The jacket came quickly and the color looked exactly how it was pictured. I ordered a size small and I am 5’6” about 140 pounds, it fits me great and has room to layer. I most definitely would recommend this coat to a friend.

      Great Jacket - As Always

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: Runs large

I bought this for my sister as a birthday gift and like all of her down sweaters and Patagonia jackets, she's had nothing but good things to say. Ultra comfortable, great fit and fashionable. She did size down, normally wearing a large in most other brands jackets, and instead ordered a medium and said this was the perfect fit for her. She said the torso is just a bit boxy if you buy your normal size.

      The Best Winter Jacket

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size

If you only buy one winter jacket it should be this one! Great fit, weight and functionality. I bought this in my usual size and have plenty of room for a hoody or fleece still.

      Love it!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XS
      • Height: 5'4"
      • Weight: 120lbs

I had looked for a lightweight down jacket for some time and this one was perfect. Other jackets were either too short, too long sleeve length, or had a poor hood. This hits me at just the top of my hips and an XS allowed for me to still fit a fleece underneath. Compact, lightweight - yet super warm! Definitely a splurge, but it's great quality that will last a long time.

      Favorite Jacket

If I could only keep one jacket in my closet, it would be this one. It's very lightweight but so warm. I had originally bought it without the hood, but exchanged it & I'm glad I did. If you want plenty of room for layering or if you plan on wearing it with a thick sweater on a regular basis, I would go up a size.

        Excellent Jacket

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Medium
        • Height: 5'4"
        • Weight: 125lbs

I was hesitant to purchase the pink color for fear of it looking reddish, but it is a bright pink for sure! Nice and warm for cold days in New Hampshire. I ordered size Medium (I weigh 125 lbs) and comfortably fits with sweaters underneath. Highly recommend Backcountry service ( this was my first purchase)

        Everyday Go-To

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size

I love this jacket, as I take almost everywhere I go during the winter, and on camping trips in the summer! The perfect weight to layer underneath a jacket, this super warm lightweight option is my all time favorite.

        Perfect Winter Coat!

This jacket has never made me question my warmth once and I wear it daily in the winter. It is made well, true to size and has really tough, but lightweight material. Plus, Patagonia is an awesome company to support.
It's so cozy that even after coming inside I tend to keep it on for a silly amount of time before I think

        Must Buy

I hesitated for a while to buy this jacket because it’s pricey but it’s worth every penny! This keeps you warm and is lightweight. I literally do not feel any cold or wind when I wear this jacket. I listened to other reviews and I ordered a size up... I’m typically a small and I ordered a medium. I would recommend staying with your regular size. While it’s a little big on me, I don’t mind it, it still looks good.

          keeps you warm.

love how comfortable and cozy this jacket is. First Patagonia Jacket, and I do not regret buying it. Light weight durable and over all great.

LOVE is not a strong enough word.

My girlfriend's review of this jacket:

"I will never buy any other brand down jacket ever again! This jacket is so comfortable.

A silly little feature is my favorite - the inside pocket loop: makes it easy to just throw it on a carabiner on the outside of my pack when I take it off and when I'm wearing it I attach my keys to it on the inside of my jacket.

The fit is great with minimal layering. I can fit a hoodie under it but its a little tight. If I planned to actually put thick layers under it often I may have sized up but it's not necessary (pictured with a thick hoodie underneath). I love having it along for shorter cold hikes, to throw on after hiking/biking up to higher altitudes to throw on for a little bit while sitting around or hanging out at camp when I've settled in for a chilly evening with a cup of tea."

LOVE is not a strong enough word.

          Pretty great

          • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
          • Size Bought: Small
          • Height: 5'6"
          • Weight: 130lbs

This is a great basic Patagonia down jacket. I love that they have added a hood. the fit is still pretty basic, nothing too fancy about the cut or design but I think that's why it works well for so many people. The cut is such that it hits just at the hips.
It's good for cold weather or a midlayer during low to below zero temps. I would say this is a great go-to jacket for the average winter season.

          Not for rock climbing use

          • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
          • Fit: True to size
          • Size Bought: Xs
          • Height: 5'2"
          • Weight: 115lbs

I have used this coat and love it, but the ripstop is not enough. I went rock climbing and then my jacket ripped, feathers were everywhere. Overall this coat was good besides the ripstop.

          "Never taking it off"

Got this for my lady for the holidays.. her review "never taking it off"...she wears it daily and LOVES IT. she did say they run a tiny bit big - she is 5'2 - 115lb and wears an XS - fits perfectly. the S was big on her

Pretty much the best of the best

          • Familiarity: I've used it several times

          • Size Bought: Medium
          • Height: 5'2"
          • Weight: 130lbs

Loving this jacket... been fantastic so far! Its warm, comfy, and a great layer to keep you outside no matter the conditions. Bonus, its also cute. You can't go wrong with this piece.

Sizing wise, the small fit me great, however I wanted more room to move in it as I wanted the piece for snowboarding and skiing along with just normal wear, so I sized up to the Medium which isn't too baggy, and allows good motion even with a few layers underneath.

          Patagonia for the win!

This is a great all around jacket. You can dress it up or dress it down. Wear it skiing, playing outside or out on the town. I Love this jacket and wear it in all types of weather.

          Your new favorite

          • Size Bought: medium

This is my favorite jacket. It is lightweight and yet oh so warm. I love how the the zip goes farther up the collar portion so when you zip it all the way up it keeps your neck warm and safe from cold wind or blowing snow. I have a medium, but could have had a more fitted layer if I had a small (I just like my jackets a little roomier). I wear it out and about every day, and also as a ski layer under a shell.

          My everyday winter jacket

I loved my bright green Patagonia ultralight down jacket but it was a little wild with my work slacks and heels. So I got this jacket to be my weekday wear during the chilly northern Nevada winter. It’s perfect—keeps me nice and toasty, has a hood for a dash through the rain or snow, and it looks classy in black. It is loftier (read: puffier) than the ultralight, if puffiness is not your thing, but it doesn’t make me look like the marshmallow woman, so I’m happy enough. It’s my go to jacket now—weekend or weekday, with slacks or jeans, rain or shine (so long as it’s cold). Also, I’m short but the jacket doesn’t overwhelm me! Two thumbs up. Would love it in every color.

I am thinking of getting this jacket in feather gray but I'm worried about it getting rather dirty. Do you know how easily this jacket can be **effectively** cleaned?
          Thanks!

          Hey Kathryn,

Super easy! Throw it in the wash with some Nikwax down wash and make sure to dry it with dryer balls to reinvigorate the loft of the down. I've washed mine multiple times and it seems to do the trick. Try to wash it before the grime gets really ingrained into the fabric and you shouldn't have a problem.

          Unanswered Question

I was reading on Patagonia about this Jacket, that they revamped this style and changed it a bit. Is this the newest version of this jacket?

it says the warranty is lifetime but what does that entail? What is the return policy as well? If I have issues with the jacket, do I contact you for that?

          Best Answer

          Sarah,

Patagonia guarantees customer satisfaction for the life of the product. You can contact Patagonia directly if you run into any problems and they will work to repair the product first, and replace it if a repair isn't in the cards.

          Unanswered Question

What is the length of this Jacket in a size medium? Is a size Small shorter? (back length)

          Unanswered Question

Would you please let me know the length of this coat (measured down the back ) and is it the same length as the High Loft Hooded down sweater? I am interested in whichever one is longer :) thank you so much!

          Unanswered Question

I am usually a small to medium in shirt size, 5'3" and 125 pounds. What size do you think would be best? Thanks!

The description says this isn’t a good stand-alone coat but it does have a water resistant finish. Would this be an OK choice for walking around a city, even if it snows or rains a little bit?

this is definitely a great jacket on it's own! Especially the hooded version here is worn more as an outerwear piece than a mid layer. (will work on getting the description to be updated to be a little more accurate)
