Svelte shape in a down sweater.

From late-fall belays to powder-filled days, the figure-flattering Women’s Down Sweater Full-Zip Hooded Jacket from Patagonia slips under a wind-blocking vest or a weatherproof shell and acts as a warming midlayer. It also packs up small for travel and works as a top layer for Chicago shopping forays. Down insulation packs a powerful punch of heat without weighing heavily on your shoulders or taking up any more space than, say, your Jack Russel terrier.

Recycled polyester ripstop inside and out fends off frisky twigs and grabby thorns to keep this jacket looking good for years on end. The 800-fill Traceable Down uses feathers from geese that were treated right their whole lives, from not being force-fed to staying fully feathered until after they've passed. Horizontal quilting keeps the insulation in line for consistent, all-over warmth. Two zippered hand pockets are great places to stash an extra pair of glove liners or cash. Inside and out, the feminine lines suit your shape for a distinctly lady-like silhouette. Between the svelte style and the consciously responsible materials, you'll try to find a reason to wear this light jacket year-round.

    • Adapted for chilly belays and shoulder season hikes
    • 800-fill down from non force-fed or live-plucked geese
    • Durable shell fabric made from recycled material
    • Treated with a DWR finish to repel light rain and drizzle
    • Insulated hood with single-pull adjustable drawstring
    • Internal zippered chest pockets doubles as a stuff sack
    • Contoured fit with longer hem length for additional coverage
    • Patagonia was founded in Ventura, California in 1973

love how comfortable and cozy this jacket is. First Patagonia Jacket, and I do not regret buying it. Light weight durable and over all great.

My girlfriend's review of this jacket:

"I will never buy any other brand down jacket ever again! This jacket is so comfortable.

A silly little feature is my favorite - the inside pocket loop: makes it easy to just throw it on a carabiner on the outside of my pack when I take it off and when I'm wearing it I attach my keys to it on the inside of my jacket.

The fit is great with minimal layering. I can fit a hoodie under it but its a little tight. If I planned to actually put thick layers under it often I may have sized up but it's not necessary (pictured with a thick hoodie underneath). I love having it along for shorter cold hikes, to throw on after hiking/biking up to higher altitudes to throw on for a little bit while sitting around or hanging out at camp when I've settled in for a chilly evening with a cup of tea."

LOVE is not a strong enough word.

    Pretty great

This is a great basic Patagonia down jacket. I love that they have added a hood. the fit is still pretty basic, nothing too fancy about the cut or design but I think that's why it works well for so many people. The cut is such that it hits just at the hips.
It's good for cold weather or a midlayer during low to below zero temps. I would say this is a great go-to jacket for the average winter season.

    Not for rock climbing use

I have used this coat and love it, but the ripstop is not enough. I went rock climbing and then my jacket ripped, feathers were everywhere. Overall this coat was good besides the ripstop.

Got this for my lady for the holidays.. her review "never taking it off"...she wears it daily and LOVES IT. she did say they run a tiny bit big - she is 5'2 - 115lb and wears an XS - fits perfectly. the S was big on her

Pretty much the best of the best

Loving this jacket... been fantastic so far! Its warm, comfy, and a great layer to keep you outside no matter the conditions. Bonus, its also cute. You can't go wrong with this piece.

Sizing wise, the small fit me great, however I wanted more room to move in it as I wanted the piece for snowboarding and skiing along with just normal wear, so I sized up to the Medium which isn't too baggy, and allows good motion even with a few layers underneath.

    Patagonia for the win!

This is a great all around jacket. You can dress it up or dress it down. Wear it skiing, playing outside or out on the town. I Love this jacket and wear it in all types of weather.

    Your new favorite

This is my favorite jacket. It is lightweight and yet oh so warm. I love how the the zip goes farther up the collar portion so when you zip it all the way up it keeps your neck warm and safe from cold wind or blowing snow. I have a medium, but could have had a more fitted layer if I had a small (I just like my jackets a little roomier). I wear it out and about every day, and also as a ski layer under a shell.

I loved my bright green Patagonia ultralight down jacket but it was a little wild with my work slacks and heels. So I got this jacket to be my weekday wear during the chilly northern Nevada winter. It’s perfect—keeps me nice and toasty, has a hood for a dash through the rain or snow, and it looks classy in black. It is loftier (read: puffier) than the ultralight, if puffiness is not your thing, but it doesn’t make me look like the marshmallow woman, so I’m happy enough. It’s my go to jacket now—weekend or weekday, with slacks or jeans, rain or shine (so long as it’s cold). Also, I’m short but the jacket doesn’t overwhelm me! Two thumbs up. Would love it in every color.

    Patagonia Down Coat

It is really warm and great for backpacking because you can stuff it in a pocket and it can get really small. Super lightweight while providing a lot of insulation and warmth. Overall, very good coat and no complaints.

I would have to say that this coat is definitely my "go to coat". It is so warm and very comfortable to wear when you are driving in the car. You hardly feel like you have anything on. It is just great for 30 degree weather. My wife liked it so much I had to get her one and she also feels the same way. You can not go wrong with this coat and it is also stylish.

I have more down sweaters and jackets than I know what to do with, but for some reason I bought another one: this guy. It's now my favorite, and I've donated most of my other coats to friends. I love the color, it's super warm, and there's a soft cover over the top of the zipper so the metal doesn't irritate your skin in the cold (smart!). The only issue I have is that I'm rather slim and the shape is a bit boxy on me. As a layering piece, or worn alone, it's a great all-around cold-weather jacket.

Warm, high quality, not for petites

    • Size Bought: XS
    • Height: 5'1"
    • Weight: 108lbs

I am really on the fence about the Patagonia Down Sweater Hooded Jacket. I purchased the hooded XS in Navy. I also tried the hooded small, and both the small and XS versions without the hood. This jacket just isn't made for petites. I am 5'1"/108 pounds/32B/34.5" hip. The bottom hits right below the butt cheeks on me. Since it comes down so far, it is actually a bit snug in the hips and it rides up into a belly bubble when taking a long stride or when sitting. Despite being small in the hips, it is too big in the bust and waist. So going up a size does not work at all! The arm length is OK and the hood fits well (note when fully zipped, the collar hits just below the nose). A petite version of this jacket would be perfect. I would even settle for a dual zipper. If you are considering hood vs. no hood, I also noticed that the bust and waist were even larger in the version without the hood. Overall, I think this jacket is great for those of average height, but not the best choice for petites. I found Marmot jackets to have a better cut for my size.

    My Favorite Patagonia Purchase Yet!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'5"
    • Weight: 127lbs

I purchased this jacket for everyday wear and to use as a mid-layer while skiing and snowboarding. I typically wear a small in tops but bought the medium in this down jacket to allow for layering long sleeve shirts and other jackets underneath. I have enough room to layer and move around without constriction. Additionally, this jacket provides an immense amount of warmth-- much warmer than my Patagonia nano puff, fleeces, and my 'Down with it Parka'. This jacket is extremely versatile, and I would highly recommend it as an addition to your everyday and technical winter wardrobe!

    LOVE it

i bought this jacket for my girlfriend and she loves it. She wont wear anything else i get her. She says its the most comfortable and warmest jacket she owns.

    4.5 stars!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small
    • Height: 5'3"
    • Weight: 125lbs

I want to give this 4.5 stars. I love it, but has one thing I would change. Starting with the good, it's super cute, great color (elwa blue), and it's warm and cozy. It's super light, packs into it's own pocket. It fits really well, I often have trouble finding outdoor gear that fits a petite but curvy body, but patagonia really fits well. Also, they're an awesome brand that stands for something, and they are high quality. The only thing I would change is that the hood only tightens in the back, there's no pulls to tighten it around your face.

    10/10 Highly Recommend

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium
    • Height: 5'4"
    • Weight: 120lbs

I am typically a small, but decided to get a Medium so I could wear a couple sweatshirts underneath it (definitely the right decision). I have worn this jacket through snow and rain and it still looks and feels brand new. It is perfect for moderately cold to freezing conditions; I have worn it almost every day during the snow season and have felt perfectly warm even when wearing a basic t-shirt underneath. The small accents, like the smaller panels on the sides, make this jacket very attractive which is often hard to find with down jackets. I highly recommend this to people who travel a lot, because it provides generous warmth and packs down to the size of a small book.

    Great product!

I had been eyeing this jacket for over a year and finally decided to make the purchase. I ordered a medium and it’s great! It’s not too tight and it’s not too loose -perfect size if you want to layer with a thick sweater. It’s lightweight, warm and great quality. If you’re on the fence -go ahead and purchase, you will not regret it. 🙌🏽

      Awesome- lightweight and warm!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: Small
      • Height: 5'2"
      • Weight: 130lbs

This jacket is fantastic! It keeps you so much warmer than you'd expect and it's comfortable to boot. I can move around freely and stay toasty. I debated between the small and medium, but the small is just roomy enough to layer sweaters underneath without making me look poofy like the medium did.

      Unanswered Question

I am thinking of getting this jacket in feather gray but I'm worried about it getting rather dirty. Do you know how easily this jacket can be **effectively** cleaned?
      Thanks!

      Unanswered Question

I was reading on Patagonia about this Jacket, that they revamped this style and changed it a bit. Is this the newest version of this jacket?

it says the warranty is lifetime but what does that entail? What is the return policy as well? If I have issues with the jacket, do I contact you for that?

      Best Answer

      Sarah,

Patagonia guarantees customer satisfaction for the life of the product. You can contact Patagonia directly if you run into any problems and they will work to repair the product first, and replace it if a repair isn't in the cards.

      Unanswered Question

What is the length of this Jacket in a size medium? Is a size Small shorter? (back length)

      Unanswered Question

Would you please let me know the length of this coat (measured down the back ) and is it the same length as the High Loft Hooded down sweater? I am interested in whichever one is longer :) thank you so much!

      Unanswered Question

I am usually a small to medium in shirt size, 5'3" and 125 pounds. What size do you think would be best? Thanks!

The description says this isn’t a good stand-alone coat but it does have a water resistant finish. Would this be an OK choice for walking around a city, even if it snows or rains a little bit?

this is definitely a great jacket on it's own! Especially the hooded version here is worn more as an outerwear piece than a mid layer. (will work on getting the description to be updated to be a little more accurate)
