Odd fit & Poor Drawstring = NoGo

I really wanted to like these, but they have a very odd fit that makes the drawstring an absolute must. Without the drawstring they essentially fall down because they funnel shape and quite wide at the top. Unfortunately, the drawstring design is really, really bad. I tried to use a knot, I tried a spring loaded clip, I tried replacing it with a different drawstring, but nothing worked. Since I don't wear these, I basically flushed my money.

Great for cold weather training. Drawstring is terrible to the point of worthless. If the shape of your body doesn?t keep the pants up then the drawstring won?t either.

Love these pants! Got them for my 3 sons and husband. I ordered an extra to try sizes and just kept the better fitting pair. Perfect for lounging on weekends.

Interesting idea executed very poorly. Surprisingly so from Patagonia. Large size is very loose around the waist. The mechanism chosen to tighten these pants simply doesn't make sense.

For reference, I have a 32" waist and 33/34" inseam. The sizing information provided by Backcountry and Patagonia matched up with what Patagonia provides. The pants seem to fit true to size and will likely be best suited as mid-layer pants. The pants material is somewhat elastic, but the "true to size" 34"-36" waist of the Large size is very loose around the waist and hips. Unfortunately, the drawstring on these pants is a small, flimsy, elastic cord that I'm unable to knot effectively to correct this issue. I don't have much faith that this cord will last long-term. It seems like an odd and ineffective choice for a waistband. I haven't yet been able to determine how breathable they are, but they are fairly warm from what I've experienced so far.
