Treat the crag as your playground.

Pack up the Patagonia Cragsmith 32L Backpack with everything you need to top out and blaze up technical approaches with ease. The large, zippered top makes loading up at the parking lot painless, while the huge zippered back panel allows you to access rope, cams, and quickdraws without having to expose them to dirt and grime. Two side pockets are ideal for stashing some water, a topo map, and a guide book. A compression strap along the top of the pack helps to manage heavy loads and doubles as a rope fixing strap. The pack is composed of a super durable 630-denier nylon and is treated with a DWR finish to protect rope and gear from spitting rains.

    • Tough-as-nails climbing pack stands out with versatile design
    • Durable ballistic nylon has PU-coating for burly protection
    • U-shaped lid keep access to gear close at hand
    • Breathable mesh shoulder straps and back panel offer comfort
    • Padded waist and sternum straps stabilize the load
    • Reinforced haul handle extends life of the pack

    The Perfect Crag Bag

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

So. Much. Room. You can fit all the essentials and anything else you might need for a day at the crag. it has enough space inside to hold an extra water bottle if the outside pocket is full even. You can keep your ropes organized up top with the rope strap. It even has an internal rack for all your quickdraws. The back panel access is super convenient too for all those times something falls to the bottom of the bag.

    not just for climbing

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love this as a minimalist travel bag! The full open back makes it easy to pack. 32L fits in the overhead just fine and I use the hydration pocket for my laptop. I have both the 32 and 40L... the 32 is near perfect... 40 is just a little big for common use but a great gear bag. I wish the 32 had the same top pocket the 40L has.

    My Sister's Favorite Bag!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got this for my sister who is just starting to climb in southern Ohio! It is the prefect little bag to hold all of her rope, chalk and gear! She loves the fabric and how comfortable it is on her back! Hopefully she will send me over some pictures soon so I can post about the bag in action!

    Unanswered Question

I was just curious as to whether the waist belt is padded like the previous model cragsmith or if it is removable, from what it looks like in the picture.
