Proper Spring Button Down
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Medium
- Height: 5'8"
- Weight: 155lbs
Patagonia knows how to get a women's button down just right. I found their Aspen Forest tunic to fit really nicely, so I thought I'd give this one a try and I love it. I went with medium and am typically a medium in Patagonia tops. The fit is not to slim, but offers some shape. Sleeve length is average, not too long or short for me (I'm 5' 8"), and the double button cuff is ideal for a casual sleeve roll. The shirt tail hem gives a bit of extra length in the back, for coverage. I was digging this Blanket Stripe print and it's just as good in person. Love the soft pastels for Spring. Tough to tell in the photo, but it's a subtle, small herringbone weave. The fabric is incredible soft, and hangs nicely. Debating getting a second!
Lightweight, summer flannel
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: Small
- Height: 5'3"
- Weight: 135lbs
The words summer and flannel don't typically go together as flannels are usually designed for cuddling on cold winter nights. This is definitely not a heavy-weight, traditional flannel. The weight of the fabric is great for fall and spring under a light jacket or summer evenings with a pair of shorts. Fit is typical Patagonia, pretty roomy and relaxed. I wear a 4 in their other flannels and found the small to be a touch big. Might try a XS if I want a trimmer cut, but with the winter lbs I am loving the extra room of the small.
