    Great mid layer!

Skied Vail, Co in this with one base layer under it and a micro puff with outer shell over it and was perfectly comfortable in the mid 20s temp. Never cold or too hot after a long run. Liked the thumb holes which kept the sleeves nicely tucked into my gloves. Bonus in the powder. Great fit and I was never wet.

      Hiking buddy

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
      • Fit: Runs large

This mid layer was my "Go to" piece of clothing to the PCT. I still haven't found anything with the same warmth to breathability ratio as the Capilene Midwieght.

      Capilene still great

Just purchased another Capilene medium weight shirt and still love this shirt. This latest shirt did seem to have a little more stretch and length in sleeves than previous years but I actually appreciate this very minor change. Everything else has stayed true to my first Capilene medium weight from 4 years ago (which I still wear btw). I also have several pair of the pants in this weight which I love as well. They are super versatile and can be worn in most fall winter spring weather where I live. I just add layers on top as needed. I also have a cap 4 shirt and R1 hoody and honestly prefer this medium weight for a base layer unless I will be outside for long periods in extreme cold (R1 is great for that). Patagonia has great products and I will continue to purchase here from backcountry during sale seasons :-).

      great addition

I bought this for my dad, and he wanted me to leave this review!
"I've used this for a base layer skiing and hiking, and have been really pleased with how warm it is but also how well it dissipates heat when you start to overheat. Sizing is true in my experience. Best of all, thumb loops!"

      Mid Warmth

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
      • Fit: True to size

My top half usually cold when snowboarding so I decided to get the mid weight instead of light weight for the tops. This will definitely be a great baselayers to keep me warm during those 5 degree days.

      Awesome Base Layer

I bought these in a size medium for my boyfriend who is 5'10'' and weighs 170lbs. He loves how they are so lightweight and don't take up much room when hiking/packing in a pack. He also wears it ski touring often. Great base layer.

      Love these base layer shirts

These are the best baselayer shirts I have ever had. I love the grid pattern in these and have for the last few years since they started this. I stay dry in these no matter how active I am and if it gets wet while in rain the shirt dries so fast it’s awesome. I wear these mostly for work but also for riding dirt bikes and hiking in the winter and currently have 4 of these hoping get get a few more soon. I also have the medium weight pants and use for when it’s really cold out as a base layer under my pants. Love both.

      Great as ever

I have about 1/2 dozen of these and plan to buy more as different colors come out.Wear them from Fall thru winter, light weight but warm.

      Feels nice on the skin!!

Really nice shirt...I like the material, it feels really nice on your body..I purchased this for a baselayer for some spring skiing in April, I think it fits the bill perfectly for that. Only thing I was not thrilled with was the fit..I purchased an XL based off the size charts and fit guides. XL is what I wear for my everyday shirts, I wanted this to be snug against my body...that’s what I put in the size guide questionnaire and it suggested XL, the shirt fits me like an everyday shirt would...maybe after it’s washed and dried it may tighten up but I’d suggest if you want it tight then go 1 size down.

      Feels nice on the skin!!

      Does the Job

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size
      • Size Bought: XL
      • Height: 6'
      • Weight: 2lbs

Purchased this shirt as a gift for my husband who researched and researched just what midweight shirt he would like best. This is a winner! It's true to size, and the descriptions provided on the site are accurate. He will typically layer this shirt beneath a vest. I'm giving this 4 stars because this is a standard, quality mid-weight shirt that holds up to true Patagonia standards. I'm sure there are just-as-good shirts out there, but my husband has a preference to Patagonia and we will likely be purchasing again.

One of the most versatile baselayers

This is now my go-to baselayer. It is perfect for warm park days for underneath a sweater or underneath a midlayer and jacket on a powder day. The fabric is a lot more comfortable than wool and provides great temperature control.

        Too big. Useless

        • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
        • Fit: Runs large
        • Size Bought: Medium
        • Height: 5'9"
        • Weight: 154lbs

I used the size chart carefully and made sure Medium is my size. The shirt is too big (more like a t-shirt, not a base layer)

        Average medium wt crew

Not worth money you just pay for the name...have cheaper similar shirts that are more comfortable...disappointed!

I can feel all the seams

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: True to size
        • Size Bought: Small
        • Height: 5'5"
        • Weight: 130lbs

This is my very first Patagonia base layer. I love Patagonia - their clothes fit me very well and boy do they last. But I though it was strange how I could feel literally every single seam. For the money and reputation of the brand I was surprised and sorta disappointed.

My EMS capilenes are a fraction of the price and more comfortable. Can't say I'll buy more base layers from Patagonia when there are better, cheaper options.

        A favorite baselayer

        • Size Bought: Medium
        • Height: 6'1"

Capilene mid-weight is one of my favorite baselayers. I know the fit on me is perfect, love picking more of these up when on sale!

What was once awesome now blows

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times
        • Fit: Runs large

I've owned about 6 Cap 3 shirts over the years and have loved them all. Super durable and comfortable material against the skin, not too thick or thin, warm, and a great fit. I wore these shirts all the time as a top while climbing and mountain biking, and as a base layer while skiing and ice climbing. They were my go-to shirts. Well, injury and my love for craft beer and corn dogs led me down a slightly more sedentary path this summer, and as a result, my belly grew and my old Cap3's aren't fitting like they used to, so I decided to go up a size, expecting the same awesome product, just in a more "robust" fit. Well, I'm bummed. The interior of this shirt is a waffle/grid pattern, similar to the R1 fleeces. I guess this makes it lighter or something, but it feels like it won't last as long as my prior Cap 3 shirts and the material is pretty scratchy even after washing. Also, the sizing is inconsistent. I bought two shirts of the same size and the differences in the fit between the two is crazy. On one shirt, the forearms are baggy, on the other they're tight. One shirt is blousy, the other is more form fitting. One extends to the middle of my thighs, the other stops just above my crotch. Nutz!

        Good Baselayer

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Got this for riding in CO. I will be getting another. I purchased a size Large, and was happy with the size. Does not have a sticky feel to it, and is long enough to tuck in if wanted. Kept dry and warm all day.
