    My favorite base layer

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 140lbs

I use this midweight layer as a base layer with uninsulated bibs and have been very happy with how warm they are

    Husband is happy

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got a pair of these for my husband. He says "I don't even think about them" when he wear them. Which is about as good as it gets for him. They are the perfect amount of warmth for him. His only complaint is that he thinks they fit a little weird, but he does have weirdly short legs.

    Matching Bottoms to Tops

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

These fit just like my light weight capilene bottoms except they have a waffle layer on the inside. They are much warmer than the lightweights.

    Great baselayer!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'
    • Weight: 180lbs

These are great! The mid weight was enough to keep me warm in the Santa Cruz mountains for a trip I did in the area in early April. Even with rain, I was still good to go. Super comfortable and very warm. Probably wouldn't wear them in the summer while hiking, personally I'd probably get to hot in them

    Keep On Keepin On

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

What more can I say that hasn't already been stated. Patagonia does not mess around when it comes to baselayers, especially the Capilene. I wear these daily for skiing whether its a cold day in the negatives or a warmer day in the 30's. For the amount of warmth these have, they are super lightweight and comfortable. The fit is perfect and not too loose or tight.

    Great base layer

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 5'11"
    • Weight: 165lbs

These thermals are sick! I use these for snowboarding mostly and they work great. I wear size 32x30 pants and ordered the mediums, they fit perfect. The cuff on the ankle is nice and stretchy so I pull them up so they don't bunch under my boot. The will be used this spring for camping and with the polygiene they can be used for a while without stink. I would recommend the Patagonia Everyday briefs for underneath. So comfy!

    A Classic For Good Reason

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 210lbs

The Capilene has been a staple in the Patagonia lineup for years and for good reason - it is tried and true. These pants won't break the bank, and will offer years of top-notch base layer performance. Moisture wicking, breathable, comfy - the Capilene has all the qualities you look for in a dependable baselayer.

    Great synthetic baselayer

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

This is a great alternative for anyone looking for a great baselayer that isn't wool. I wear these under my 3L pants on a 10-20 degree powder day and have no problems with warmth. I personally wish I bought a size larger however, so that way it'd be easier to slide the pants up for putting on ski boots.

    Perfect except for the waistband

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'2"
    • Weight: 200lbs

These are a perfect cut and a perfect fit for me and are warmer than I would have guessed based on the weight. However, the flimsy waistband immediately folds over itself and stays that way, making it feel a bit sharp. I have zero "midriff bulge" that would cause this. It's a small annoyance, but shouldn't happen with a manufacturer like Patagonia.

    Great fit, great price

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 6'1"
    • Weight: 195lbs

These have a fantastic athletic fit, they're pretty warm with some basketball shorts and a goretex layer over them! I have to take a lap or two but I'm warm and comfortable on at 15 degree day on the mountain.

No chafing with good warmth and comfort

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I hated the under layer as a kid. It was always scratchy and felt like it was pulling out my leg hairs one at a time. No more, capilene provides a super soft layer that you will forget you are wearing until your buddy complains of being cold and you remember why you’re not. Throw under jeans and you can transfer in and outdoors without a second thought. Mid weight is great unless you are going really low temps and not staying active.

    Toasty Base

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

I picked up the mid weight piece as a base layer for my snowboarding adventures over winter. I will primarily just wear these with a pair of shorts over them. These bad boys are really comfortable and i can really feel the warmth difference when wearing these.

    Perfect Weight for Cold Days

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: medium
    • Height: 5'10"
    • Weight: 165lbs

I stocked up on these to wear this winter. Skiing, hiking, or just making sure I'm warm during my commute to and from work, these are comfortable under everything. The Capilene is soft and keeps me dry. Not bulky, they don't bunch up, even under denim they lay flat all day. One of my favorite products from Patagonia.

    Coast Guard ready

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Size Bought: Large
    • Height: 5'9"
    • Weight: 195lbs

I bought these for my son. He's using them as an authorized under layer with his USCG uniform. As a Boatswains mate, he will see lots of weather and there bottoms look ready for the challenge! Well made, light and comfortable.
