Read the reviews before i purchased . I wore mine running - then for casual wear the next day after it dried, no smell, like new! No piling in the single wash. Can be dressed up or down . Great for airplane travel too . I’m sold!

Looks great, comfy, NOT durable

Looks great, comfy, nice cut, but the material is EXTREMELY fragile. After ONE wash the fabric is pilling very badly in several areas. The material is already thin, and the pilling is layers of material coming off. I don't see this lasting more than one season so it's getting returned.

Love this top!

I was hesitant to buy this top because of the steep price tag but I?m so glad I did. Sure, it?s a great base layer but also so much more. I wear it as a casual top, paired with a Better Sweater vest. It?s soft and I didn?t find it scratchy at all. It runs small though - I almost always wear small in Patagonia tops but this was too form-fitting for me. Exchanged for a medium.

Best Baselayer Ever

This is my favorite baselayer I've ever had, it is crazy comfy, breathable, and wicks sweat better than anything else! I've worn it multiple days in a row without it smelling, and the hood comes up over my nose as works as a great face mask.

Not really what I expected

I was pretty excited to get this bc I?d been wanting it for a while. But was kind of disappointed when it arrived and I think I will be returning. Pros: very lightweight, nice stretchiness, I like the hood/turtleneck situation. Cons: was hoping it would be longer and softer. It was actually kind of itchy and I felt that I would prefer another layer underneath it which kinda defeats the purpose. But I imagine if you?re looking for something disproportionately warm for its weight, this would fit the bill. Oh also bc it?s supposed to be a base layer it runs pretty small. I ordered a medium and it fit more like a small IMO.

I wanted to love this top as the fit is great and would have been a very versatile piece from all winter activities to casual wear. However I will be returning as I am very sensitive to wool (even merino wool) and it was too itchy. I would love for Patagonia to make this piece in a non-wool material. I gave it 2 stars because if you are sensitive to wool like me you will not be able to wear this top as a base layer.

Can’t get enough of these. I wear them, literally, all the time. I have worn them running, hiking, climbing, sleeping, traveling... in the mountains, at the beach, on planes, at home, in bed, above treeline. Seriously the most versatile piece of clothing I own. I have two of the hooded variety, one in my normal size for layering under pieces in the winter, and one a size up for comfier vibes. I also own one in the crew neck.. just ‘cause. (The photo is the size up from my normal size, the sleeves and torso are looser).

I debated on getting this piece for some time, but I did in early winter in Colorado, and it's been one of my favorite go-to pieces this season. I like that it was warm, soft, lightweight, and the hoody/gaiter design made the piece ultra-functional for everything from walks with the dogs, snowshoeing adventures, and as a balaclava under my ski helmet. I have the R1 hoody, and it is nice for colder days. Put the two together and they function as an amazing layering system. I wish the sleeves were a little longer or had the mitten/thumbhole feature.
