Every year when Mother Nature visits upon me the wintry hand of chilling winds on my neck, I am distracted while hiking or camping in the wilds I love; (and while running around town as well). Hooded jackets do help; but there's not that warming "second skin" effect that a neck gaiter provides. So, this season I searched amongst the choices in the Back Country arsenal. Patagonia has solved my problem with this Capalene air gaiter. When the package arrived I immediately ran a test of comfort, elasticity and warmth, even though the thinness of the gaiter made me doubt the outcome. Success! The special weaving process creates tiny warming pockets in the soft Merino wool/polyester material. The elasticity conforms to the neck, face and head, depending on how you wear it.
