    Great bag, unsaid political statement

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Got this bag onsale for 69$, 129$(retail) is overpriced but I like Patagonia branded gear just make it clear to everyone around me that I support public lands here in Utah.
Patagonia will repair this bag for me a decade from now, done and done, support companies that support the things you love.

    He loves it!

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Gave this to my dad as a Christmas present and he loves it. He reported back, "absolutely no waters getting in there". He has room for all his paperwork, as well as the ipad he carries for commuting. And as his fashion adviser, I have to say it looks waaaaay better than his last messenger bag.

    Very Disappointing

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am a college student who is always on the move. I have a couple of courier/messenger bags already but needed one that would fit my new 15" (15.6") HP laptop as well as my notebooks. I chose this bag (the 24L) for the size as well as my extensive history with gear and clothing from Patagonia. The overall size is great and it looks nice. There you go, those are the benefits. The material is chinsy and flimsy, only a Macbook will fit in the computer slot, the shoulder strap has very little adjustment and the pad on the strap is large and flat making it dig into your neck. I'm working on a stabilizing strap because the fabric is so slippery it slides all over the place when you're riding a bike or motorcycle. The strap connection to the bag is placed at such a poor angle that its clear no real design time was spent on the product. A stabilizing strap would alleviate many of this bags problems but because of the bag/strap design its incredibly hard to make one that works well. I have bags from Aerostitch, Canyon Bags, and Mountain Hardware (to name a few) and they are all head and shoulders above this. If all you want is an overpriced bag that looks cool on campus with a big logo on it then this might be the bag for you. If you are looking for a bag that's functional while you're on the move then keep looking.

    Exactly what he needed!

I picked this up for my boyfriend to use for work. The material is rugged and I have no doubt that it will survive many wildland fire seasons to come. It fits a large laptop (>15 inches), and a good chunk of paperwork.

    Fits my 17" laptop

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I know there are some questions as to whether this will fit a 17" laptop. I can get my Dell 17" in mine but it is fairly tight but it goes. If your laptop measures less than 16.5 across then it should fit fine. Also this could use some more pockets and while it is very durable and waterproof, it is not very... I think ergonomic is the word. Just not super comfortable and could use some more cool features like I have seen on other bags, maybe a detachable waist strap and mesh water bottle carrier. Well worth it if you need something that is durable.

    Great Commuter bag

This bag is amazing, fits my 13" laptop perfectly and has boatloads of room for water bottle, rain jacket, AC adaptor as well as any other things i may need at the time. Works wonderful for a day to day work bag, as well as a good travel bag. I've used laptop compatible backpacks in the past, and this is much more functional in my opinion. Highly recommend.

      Patagucci

Im born and raised in Ventura where this amazing company is based out of . I support them 100% with their contributions to nature and their pursuit to make durable products that are lifetime guaranteed in an eco friendly manner. I started with a black hole backback , 6 months later I got the black hole duffle and now I'm ordering this . I can't say enough good about this company and their products. I will continue to support and may even try to get a job there just to be part of the wonderful community who knows what the company Patagonia stands for! :)

So many uses, including as a diaper bag!

      • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Love the versatility of this messenger. Works great when I need to pack my laptop and lunch to work... but really got it to be our diaper bag when our new baby arrives. Super easy to wipe clean, lots of inner compartments, and big enough to haul all the necessities (and then some)

Good for work, or staying unemployed

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I got this for my sister as a college graduation present as she looked for a new job. Her feedback a month later was that it "would be great for work, or just staying unemployed." Given that she is living in Bellingham with the opportunity to fish, kayak, paddleboard, mountain bike or hike daily without paying rent, I think the latter is more likely. Ahh millennials.

She also said she liked all the pockets and the space it offered, but wished there was a water bottle holder.

      Truly a Black Hole!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This bag is incredible and very user friendly. I've always used backpacks in the past, but wanted something a bit more easy to access and with more storage, as well as a dedicated laptop sleeve.

Storage in the Black Hole Messenger Bag is very intuitive - I use the external zipper for any necessities that need quick access - wallet, phone, sunglasses, gum, etc and there is plenty of room in this exterior pocket for lots of junk.

The main compartment is huge, and I can store multiple notebooks, a 24oz AVEX bottle and my 15" laptop inside with ease. This still leaves room for a light rain jacket or layering piece.

I took this bag as my carry-on on a recent weekend trip and it was the perfect traveling companion through the airport.

The waterproof fabric used with this pack is rugged and should stand the test of time (just like I'd expect from Patagonia). I don't use the external webbing much, but can see the use for attaching a water bottle or hanging a watch, etc. Overall, an awesome bag!

      Awesome bag

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had this bag for several years now and it is simply amazing. True to the name, in the same form as their duffels, it is truly a black hole if you aren't careful. It has a zippered pocket with spots for pens and cards or other items and a padded laptop sleeve in the main compartment. The straps/buckles that secure the flap closed also double as compression straps if you don't have much in the bag which makes it nice so things are bouncing around everywhere. The padded shoulder strap is easily adjusted - whether you want to have it over your shoulder, in a vertical carry, or across the back as you're pedaling your fixie across town, there is a comfortable way to carry it in any situation. The handle on the top is nice if you want to simply carry it like a briefcase as well. The DWR coating in the black hole form makes it nice to keep your things dry, or for when you spill your coffee all over on the morning commute. Compared to other messenger bags I've owned, this one has been the most durable and functional.

      Awesome bag

      Perfect Travel Bag

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Fantastic size for travel carry on or weekender bag. I can get my laptop plus my personal items and a full, change of clothes in this. I also have room for my coffee travel mug and a liter water bottle. Patagonia quality all the way in design and materials.
