Black Hole +++++
Versatile bag. I use this bag in 2-3 night trips and in all conditions. I have used this on personal trips, working trips, and recently on a camping trip in extreme weather conditions including snow, rain, and ice. The contents within the bag have never been compromised. There are storage areas inside the bag for personal items and an outside pocket for quicker âon the goâ items.
Great Present
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Bought this for my fiance as a Christmas present and he loves it! It's more durable than his old one, and the exterior coating helps protect it when we toss it in the back of the car with wet ski gear.
Duffels for days
I loved the 60L version so much, that I had to get the 90L, too!
Put in on the Pizza! (er, packing list)
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I'm on the road a lot for work and needed a bigger vessel for all my objects. The 90L is a great size for many days of clothes+bike and ski gear. This bag is burly and durable. The one main pocket does make it a black hole...I once lost socks for a week, but it is super convenient for those longer forays. The Marigold color is a great eye-catcher for always finding *my* bag at the airport baggage claim.
for all your gear
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This is all I ever use for my gear. Climbing, biking, camping, travel, everything
More engineering than you might ever req
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Great bag, 90l is not as big as some of my TUMI rolling duffels... but it might be so over engineered that it will outlive me....
Great Bag
i love these patagonia duffels! Great amount of space for traveling or to store winter gear.
BEST BAG AROUND!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I have used this bag for my gear bag for skiing, as well as traveled with it. The main storage area is huge! Can easily fit boots, helmet, pants, coat, goggles, and much more with plenty of room to spare! HIGHLY recommend!
Fantastic bag!!
Description
Yes yes yes
I got 4 of these bags with 3 friends who I travel with all the time in the black. Someone below said they don’t care for the shiny look but don’t let that persuade you because in person it looks SO GOOD. Probably one of the more quality Patagonia items I own, We stack them all in the back of the sprinter for a long weekend trip to the mountains and it’s so much better than 4 random suitcases/bags that seem much bulkier because these stack really well. Can’t wait for more trips with them!
Its the best
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I'll be using this bag for the first time this coming week on a ski trip to Colorado. I've been able to pack all my ski clothes and regular clothes in here so far(not including boots, they have a seperate bag)
So roomy and the material it's made of is bombproof.
Favorite Duffel
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This is my second black hole duffel. I have one in the 60l and now 90l. These are the perfect duffels for anything. Weekend trips, plane trips, week long adventures. They will hold up and look good for years to come.

no shoulder strap
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
So I was really excited about this duffle bag because of the strong denier material and TPU coating. It's built really well and is true to its name with a ton of room, but I'm really disappointed and kind of confused about the lack of a traditional should carry. It has the two handles and the two backpack style straps, but if you want to carry it on one shoulder like a normal duffle bag, the shoulder strap will shift the bag all the way to your back and make the bag sag, instead of resting on your hip. I understand adding a shoulder strap but taking the normal functionality of a regular duffle bag seems kind of silly. I'd say if you're just looking for a duffle to use for airline travel, find something else. If you're only throwing this from your front door into a truck, go for it
Love this bag!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Great size for my trip back east! Love the colors and the high quality. No more ripped bags coming down the baggage claim!
Great Bag

You can really pack this thing up. Great bag.
Exactly What You Need

If you are looking at this bag, you probably have a very specific use in mind. You may simply be wondering if it is going to perform as well as you think it would. Let me help you answer that question... YES. When people ask us which size to buy we generally say both the 45L and the 90L. While we love the 45L and use it all the time as a carry on bag, the 90L is simply irreplaceable. It has safely carried my scuba gear 3 continents and has no problems fitting my BCD, Regulator, Fins, Mask, Snorkel, and Wet Suit. This is a large bag and built tuff. The U-Shaped flap makes access in and out of the bag a breeze and our only real grip with the bag is the fact that its not completely waterproof. We think you are going to love this bag and would be surprised if it does not suit your needs. To see our full review with more photos check out our site here:

It is a perfect duffel!
Family of 6 used both the Patagonia and the Marmot duffels for two week safari. Patagonia won for ease of use and keeping it's shape. My daughter and I even took ours to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro. It did a great job, space, water resistance, kept looking good now matter what it was put through!
Pack It Up
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
The Black Hole duffel is the ideal travel bag; durable, water resistant, and can carry tons of gear.
This duffel is designed to last a lifetime and I bring it everywhere with me. I can throw my mountain bike gear, camping stuff, or ski equipment for quick trips.
THATS A YES FOR ME
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Love this bag! The backpack strap add ons are super cool and convenient. Fits SoO SO SO MUCH. Also machine washable! Wonderful duffle.
Is this bag long enough to accommodate a pair of 24" long hiking poles? They can't go in my carry on bag. Thanks
What are the approximate dimensions? Would this count as a carryon?
Roger,
this is a touch big for a carryon, but the Black Hole 60L is the perfect size.
Does this bag meet airline carry-on size restrictions?
nope, but the Black Hole 60L is the perfect carry on size.
Would the 90L be able to accommodate two ski boots as well as clothing for a 5-7 day ski trip?
Should be more than enough room for a pair of ski boots, a weeks worth of baselayers, an outer shell set, and some resort/around-town casual wear. Hope that helps, Adrian. Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Do you ship to Korea this product?
Hey! We cannot ship patagonia outside of the United States. if you have any other questions, feel free to email or give me a call. Thanks!

Is it waterproof?
Hey Ashley - the short answer is yes, the Patagonia Black Hole Duffels are waterproof. The 900D polyester ripstop outer material and DWR finish will keep your belongings dry in most situations. I would not however recommend this for rafting or other water adventures where a true dry sack would be more appropriate. Feel free to contact me directly with any additional questions.

Hi, my wife and I are going on Safari in Tanzania too and we need to keep the bags under 15kg each. Do you know the approximate weight your pack was with the 90L one?
