    Rugged Construction Meets Smooth Sailing.

Equally at home rolling through ancient narrow alleys in European cities as it is through gleaming modern airports, the Patagonia Black Hole 40L Wheeled Duffel does it all. The Black Hole is highly water-resistant thanks to the TPU film laminate and DWR coating, and its super durable because of the 900D polyester fabric can take a beating and keep rolling.

You can throw this bag around by its haul handles without fear, and when you're traversing nothing but concrete, use the telescoping handle to pull this puppy and let the wheels do the work. Patagonia knows that load and tie-down options are essential with gear bags, so it has provided four corner-mounted webbing daisy chains for the big loads. Getting into the bag is a snap thanks to the U-shaped lid to the main compartment. Stay organized with the zippered exterior pocket and two zippered internal mesh pockets.

    • Keep your gear well-protected when you travel with this bag
    • Durable and water-resistant exterior safeguards the goods
    • Organization pockets for small items
    • Telescoping handles offer a convenient haul
    • Rolling wheels are super sturdy and roll over terrain with ease
    • Internal compression straps keep items secure
    • Item #PAT01PF

    Super Duffel

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Perfect size duffel for trips. Very easy to carry around or roll around, and the material is burly / durable. Took on a 10 day trip to Hawaii where the bag had to contend with rain sand and sun and it did a great job. Would recommend.

    Travel + Durable

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this bag. The handle is comfortable, the wheels are durable, the material is durable and can stand up to anything you will run into an airport. I appreciate all the handles. It has a decent amount of organization pockets. I really like that it doesn't have 4 wheels which make it less likely to break. I took it around Europe and didn't have any problems with the small airplanes with not allowing larger bags for carry-ons.

    One of Every Size

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have the 90 and 120L duffel which I love and have stood up to the test of time, so I figured the 40L wheeled duffel was a good addition to the arsenal. The opening is smaller than expected, but otherwise looks sturdy and expect it will hold up well.

    Nice, but returned

This is a great bag. A little bit overpriced for what you get. I have the 60L black hole duffel, which I love and would recommend to everyone, I thought I would add this rolling black hole to my collection. After initial thoughts, i decided to return it. It has kind of a small opening and didn't seem I would be able to fit much in it, I mean it is a 40L, so I didn't expect to be able to anyway. Some of the hardware also felt a little bit cheap. I decided to check out TNF Rolling Thunder Duffel and was much more impressed, and it is also slightly cheaper.

      The Ultimate Carry On

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

After struggling with an old roller bag with a broken handle and wheels that stick for a few years, I finally upgraded to the Patagonia Black Hole 40L Wheeled Duffel. I was initially concerned that the size would be too small to carry everything I'd want for a weekend or week-long trip, but I was amazed (as usual, with anything black hole) at how much I was able to fit into this duffel. Very durable, the haul handles are a great feature, and it met the requirements for carry on luggage. Can't recommend enough!
