What goes in never comes out.

Patagonia's Black Hole 25L Daypack has a strong gravitational pull towards your hiking gear even though you're supposed to fill it with your school work. This daypack takes a nod toward alpine packs, with a light-yet-strong ripstop shell coated with a TPU film and Durable Water-Resistant finish. Heavy-duty molded padding gives the shoulder straps and back panel a comfy ride. A tube port lets the laptop sleeve double as a hydration sleeve, and there are side stretch pockets for water bottles.

    Great Travel/Day Pack

I already have two Black Hole duffels that I love so I figured I might give the pack a try too. I'm not used to top zippers like it, but I think I'll get used to it. I love the laminated shell and the pockets seem well thought out. It should server as a great pack for traveling and day hikes.

      Bomber In Every Way

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Excellent pack, I'd give it a 9/10. I've used this bag five days a a week for about 1 year now and it's shown no signs of wear.
Anything from being thrown around in my car to hold my running gear to working up steep approaches in the rain, to stuffing a bunch of crap in it when I moved.

Pros: Easily accessible- very intuitive flap and zipper setup, Black Hole material is very high quality and very sturdy, zipper are smooth and easy to operate when under stress, massive cargo space for a light pack, brain pouch is very useful, water bottle pockets

Cons: While the material is fully waterproof - the zippers are not taped and the back will also soak through in a sustained downpour (it's meant for a situation such as that, just buy a pack cover if that's an issue), water bottle pockets are too snug - they hold a full nalgene but you really gotta cram it in, sternum strap is kinda wimpy - no full strap capacity

      Nice looking "basic" backpack

This is not a hiking backpack and besides what the description states there is no waist belt to secure this pack without the extra load on your shoulders and back. The bag itself is nice looking and great lightweight pack but not functional for true hiking/trekking as I needed it for... It's so hard to find fashion/stylish hiking bags while functional at the same time.

        Perfect amount of space!

Great for carrying your daily essentials and keeping them safe from unpredictable weather in Utah. Awesome pack I use it on the daily from morning commutes to the shoreline hikes with the dog. The pack is pretty universal for almost anything that requires packing up and taking with you. The feature I enjoy the best is the rigid back it’s not super stiff but it does have some flexibility to it and the pattern it has molded allows great airflow. I’m constantly receiving completes on the outer finish of this pack as well, looks slick and durable are the main ones. The organizational pockets are perfect they thought of everything for everything so you’ll have easy access to it all. The laptop sleeve is nice fits the mac superb and is brilliant how it doubles as a hydration sleeve and allows a tube right out the top. If you have a budget for only one pack this is the pack.

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Absolutely essential for college, day hikes, climbing especially

There's an excellent handle on the daisy chain that lets you carry it like a duffel and the waterproofing is solid.

Not going to be using this in a downpour unless you have a pack cover, though it's perfect for light rain.

        all around great pack

        • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is my favorite pack for every day use that Patagonia makes, I use it all the time for work and travel. Updated this year to include external stretch pockets for water bottles or extra gear, with still the same old standby features of padded laptop sleeve and internal pen/gadget organization.

        Stylish Urban Look

        • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I gave as a gift and received the following feedback:

“I like the stylish sleek look. I’ve had a number of compliments on the pack within the first few days of using it. The laptop sleeve won’t fit a laptop with an extended battery, but the normal battery fits just fine.”

        Sweet Pack

        • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Durable and great for travel or as a laptop bag. The laptop sleeve will only fit a 15" laptop, but I just throw my 17" with an extended battery in the main compartment. No hip belt so I wouldn't plan on carrying a heavy load or using it outside all that much. Maybe for a short hike or alpine scramble.
