    Better than your sweater.

The Patagonia Women's Better Sweater 1/4-Zip Fleece Pullover is better for skiing, hiking, and camping than most sweaters. A slim fit pulls this sweater's soft fleece closer to your body for more comfort, and it's easier to layer your ski shell or rain jacket over. Patagonia added a 1/4-zip front in case you work up a sweat, and the zippered sleeve pocket secures your valuables.

    • An all-around performer for hiking, climbing, and skiing
    • Better Sweater fabric insulates and manages moisture
    • Soft fleece interior provides additional warmth
    • 1/4-zip front pullover design for easy ventilation
    • Slim fit reduces bagginess for easy layering
    • Patagonia is committed to producing sustainable outdoor gear

    Love the Material

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I love this sweater! I also have it in the full zip. The material is so soft, but looks a little dressier than most fleeces. It is great layer, I have even worn it skiing. The fit is very flattering with a longer fit and slightly fitted at the waist. This fleece runs true to size.

    Love it!

I originally bought this for a trip where I needed something warm to wear every morning but only had limited space for packing. It was perfect! It's super comfortable on chilly mornings.

This is the perfect option for cold nights out on the town. Here in Salt Lake, it's usually in the 20-30 degree range at night - which makes it difficult for me to choose the right eye catching outfit when bar hopping and such on the weekends.

The quarter zip on this sweater gives me lots of options for different occasions. I can wear it to work and have it mostly zipped up, and then head straight to downtown and just zip it down a little more with a cute push up bra and I have a perfect warm outfit that's still sexy.

Part of me wishes it had hand pockets, but the other part of me is not a fan of the Patagonia Re-Tool Pullover which has hand pockets because I think they make the jacket look super awkward, so I just suck it up and put my keys and phone in my jean pockets and keep my hands occupied with holding drinks or crossing my arms instead.

This sweater is honestly significantly warmer than I thought it would be. Definitely worth the price.

I will say that I'm happy with the small I bought, but I do like my clothes a little more snug fitting - plus I don't wear any other shirt under this when I wear it.

If you're looking to use it more like a jacket/sweatshirt and have similar dimensions to me, I would probably size up to a medium.

PS here's a pic of me in the sweater with my new pup - she gives the sweater two paws up, a big tail wag, and a couple of puppy kisses too.

I bought this for my Girlfriend and this is what she had to say: "I'm 5'6" and 120lbs, usually in between a small and medium size. I got the medium so that I can use it for layering. It fit me perfectly. It is extremely comfortable and warm. My only complaint is that I wish it had hand warming pockets."

    A must have!

    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: Medium

This was a gift for my girlfriend and she absolutely loves it. I purchased the birch white for her. She wears it for a mid layer while skiing and also for everyday use. Patagonia makes high quality products and this is no exception.

    Super Comfortable Sweater

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
    • Fit: True to size

Got this sweater for my sister and my Mom loved it so much she wanted one too! My sister is about 5'8" and I got her the large and my Mom is closer to 5'6" so I went with the medium for her. Both fit spot on and they are really happy with them.

Go to pullover for the winter!

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: Runs small

I love this fleece lined pullover! I pretty much live in it all winter long. Because it is fleece lined all you need is a t-shirt under it and it keeps you very warm. It does fit a little snug so if you like your pullovers to fit a little looser I would go a size up

    Quality Sweater

I received one of the snap T-Fleece sweaters as a gift and I am happy with it but I wanted one with a little different material so I purchased this one. I absolutely love it. It's very comfortable and fits perfect. I got a Medium because I like my sweaters fitting loose. It fits just the way I like it. Very soft and warm! Cant wait to use it on the river flyfishing.

    Better sweater

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I just order my first Patagonia better sweater 1/4 zip on sale. I bought a medium. I'm 5'9", 36B size 8. Size m is perfect. Slim fit but not at all tight. It's so very cozy and comfy like a hug. Im wearing a silk long underwear top underneath it right now. I have long arms and the sleeve length is perfect. The length is perfect too. I'm not crazy about this raw linen color. I really hoped it would be a white linen like the the trim on it's sleeves. The color looks like a dingy white. I like the cozy feel of it enough to order another color. I know I'll get a lot of use out of this one because I don't want to take it off! Patagonia clothing is great. You should order one if you're debating.

Cozy, but tight in the arms

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Small

As far as mid-layers go, this is the best I've found. It doesn't block wind, but it will shed a light breeze. It is great for layering over a baselayer, but also fits under a jacket.

I am usually an XS in Pategonia outerwear, so I ordered both a Small and XS to try on. The XS fit me through the waist better (although it was a little short) but I could hardly get it on over my arms. I only climb and lift a little, but evidently it's designed for women who don't have arm muscles?
I settled for the Small, which hits me perfectly at the hips but is a little wider/squarer than I would like.

    Staple, go to fleece

It's hard to find anything new to say about the Patagonia Better Sweater. It's a staple of my wardrobe here in park city starting in the fall, and running through the spring. It's a great fit (mine have shrunk), and after years they're still soft and holding together. Can't recommend these enough.

      Awesome everyday Sweater

      • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
      • Fit: True to size

I got this sweater as a gift for my mom and she's crazy about it. It runs true to size, and fits her perfectly. Great sweater to be able to pull on quickly, and it is super comfy! So simple, but yet very stylish. Patagonia makes awesome products, and seems to never disappoint. Would highly recommend .

      Awesome gift

I ordered this for my mom for Christmas who seems to really really like it. I got it for her in the Birch White color and sized up after returning the smaller size. The color is like a tri-blend gray that looks like it can be worn for everyday or fit well in an office on a casual day. It has a nice weight to it and the inside liner is so cozy.

        Great Fleece

Another great product by Patagonia. Bought this as gift for my sister and she has worn it almost everyday. Great fleece pullover for many occasions. It is a slim fit, which she likes to have.

It fits true to size, but...

        • Size Bought: Small

I read the reviews about sizing up for this sweater, but they did not have the color I wanted in M so I got my regular size S. It does fit true to size, but it is a bit short. Regardless, its very warm and practical for skiing and snowshoeing. I do not have a dress code at work so I also wear it at work. I have received lots of compliments and I do love this sweater and I strongly recommend it.

I am 5'7" , 135lbs with an athletic build. Would you suggest a medium?

Hey Lyn, I am a similar size and would say a Medium would be a good fit if you wanted to layer with the sweater but if you are looking for a more snug, fitted piece the Small would be the better option. Looking at this sweater as well as the full zip. I'm about 5'5"-5'6" and around 110 lbs. Slim and slightly lanky. Any thoughts on XS or S?

I'm 5'0" around 110 lbs and I got a small and it fits perfectly. It's not tight and I can wear a shirt underneath it but it's not awkwardly baggy! The length falls perfectly at my hips and I can bend over without my bum hanging out! Hopefully that gives you some perspective!

I'm 4'10 and 105lbs and got an XS. The length is a little long for me (but is nice to wear with leggings!) as well as the arm lengths... other than that it fits fine! I would say if you plan on really piling layers under it, go with the Small. You could get an XS if you maybe plan on just wearing a tank or thinner top underneath. Hope this helps some!
