The shorts themselves are OK. Sizing and look are good. The fabric is very thin, comfortable but not durable at all -- it already has a small cut from keys in my pocket. The real issue is the inner liner: it has thick edges that chafe badly. A 4-mile hike in these was awful from the chafing. I guess you could wear underwear under the liner but that defeats the purpose of these as a hike / swim short. Going back to running shorts for hot weather hikes.

Love the style and material - softer and lighter than regular baggies. I wear a small in the regular baggies and unfortunately the small in these was too tight in the legs, waist and butt.

Bought these as a gift for my twin roommate, (his twin brother has the same pair) he really enjoys these shorts, he claims he can play golf in them and then head straight to the beach to swim.

Something was off with these and I just couldn't place my finger on it. Little tight, pockets at a weird angle, not sure what exactly, but I much prefer the regular baggies.

I originally bought these for myself to use but ended up giving them to my Dad. I wasn't a fan of the little waist band. Although they were super comfy and fit perfect. the material was a little stiffer then I thought it would be. My Father Loves them though! Im going to try the baggies with stretch instead of these.

These shorts are great for just going out and doing anything. Running, hiking, climbing, etc.. they'll feel great . Super light and the material dries out quickly if your adventure involves water. Awesome shorts!

Great but don't get chalk on them...
I really like these shorts, on the surface. They're comfy, have a good fit, and feel pretty durable. Sadly, after bouldering in them for maybe 4-5 sessions now, the fabric has permanently retained chalk, even after washing. I've never had this happen to any piece of clothing before, and I'm certainly not the type to purposefully douse my body in chalk while climbing, so I'm pretty disappointed in that fact. Now they're fine for climbing, but I wouldn't want to wear them around anymore, unless I wanted to go for that "I just put up a dozen panels of drywall" look.

Reader's Digest Version: A breezy, lightweight alternative to the original Baggies shorts. Material is softer, dries faster, and is, well, lighter. The design is largely the same as the original, though I think the Baggies Light has a more modern cut than the original Baggies do..... but that might just be the material laying less stiff-ly. Size is true to fit. Non-Reader's Digest Version: I'm a big, big, big fan of Baggies, and sort of wish that they made these for women. And as the old, gift-giving saying goes, "get someone what you would want"... so, I got a pair of these for my husband (for his birthday). And to say the least, I'm jelly! These are super light and sans the swishy noise that the Baggies often make, and the fabric seems to lay more flat (so to speak) than the stiff, flared out fit of the original Baggies. There IS a liner, which is nice for, well, erm, coverage. Unlike the original Baggies, there is no back pocket and I think the mesh pockets are fixed to the short (which is a really convenient feature when you've got stuff in your pockets that weighs more than your shorts). The true teal is more rich in color than the picture indicates, less light in color and more dark, gem tone. As for the size, my husband does own a size XS in the original Baggies, but I got him a Small in these for comfort's sake and they seem to fit a shade better. For size reference, he's a 29 in Levi's and a 30 in Patagonia.

My go to swim, climb, hang out, and adventure shorts. I think the material has a lil smoother face than the reg baggies and these have no back pocket. My shorts still look relatively new after a few years of use. The fit is great, not too roomy, but still allows a lot of movement. With these and a pair of bomber canvas shorts you'd be set for life. I don't anticipate having to replace these anytime soon. Really amazed I don't have any fraying seams or tears after 3 or 4 years of use.

"Jack of all trades, master of none" really sums up these shorts. Are they the most comfortable? nope. Best performance for watersports? nope. Most fashionable? nope. But for some reason it's just great having a short that can do it all. Particularly convenient for traveling and packing light. If you're the type to cut out the mesh lining, they will also make great running and biking shorts too.

Classic shorts with a light feel
I have been wearing the baggies for years and love them. They are durable and high quality which makes it an easy buy. I love the way they fight and the lightweight material is super comfortable and just all around awesome.

The fit feels off on these. I find them restricting in the quad/butt and the front rise feels/looks too long. Could just be me - pretty large thighs and bum. Much prefer the original Baggies. Ordered a Medium at 5' 11" 175#.

I got these for my husband for an upcoming trip to Belize. He's definitely more into river short styles than board shorts so I thought these would be a good option. I've been wearing the women's original baggies for years and these are much softer and slimmer. He is 5'9" 180, 32/34 waist and the M fits perfectly. They hit just around/above his knee and the leg width is perfect. He has a normal leg width and they're not at all too narrow. I LOVE the bright blue color, they look great! He seams to love them too.

Great Hybrid Short
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Fit:
- True to size
These are great shorts for all activities. A real all-rounder. Sort of like a board/running/hiking short combo. Uses: Trail running, biking, swimming, paddling, walking, etc. in Western North Carolina's rugged and temperate rainforest ecosystem. Pros: +Lightweight ripstop fabric seems very durable (time will tell) and soft on the skin. + Deep pockets (w/ built-in reversible storage pocket) that actually hold stuff. + Elastic waist band is soft w/ a sturdy cord and soft brief liner + Bungee key fob in right pocket...this should be standard on all shorts + Fit is great for me. I'm 5'11" /32 waist (average build) and the medium was spot on. 7" Inseam length is perfect...not too short nor too long. "Slim Fit" seems to be more of a "Regular"....but I'm lean and these might be tight on those with large legs. Cons: -Hmm..non yet...except for the limited color selection. I certainly can't pull off the pink....err coral! If you're looking for one short and want to branch out from the standard baggies or elite running shorts, this may be the ticket for you. Try them out.

My waist varies between 33 and 34. Most of my clothes are 34 though. Should I go with a Medium or a Large? I am 5'10" 185
