    Threaded bottom bracket installation and removal is a breeze with the Park Tool BBT-79 Bottom Bracket Tool. The cup is easy to place on a 12-notched external bearing bottom bracket, and uses a 3/8-inch drive for attachment to a ratchet or torque wrench so you can torque down your bottom bracket just right. The BBT-79 fits 46mm bottom brackets, and is anodized silver so its easy to spot it in your drawer of bottom bracket tools.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

    When you're running through-axles you often have to take the end caps off to properly torque your rotor lockrings, this is the tool that lets you torque 'em down properly and still get the end cap back on.

    Good enough for the job

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

    A bottom bracket gets installed once, and serviced once or twice a year. The Park Tool BBT-79 works well. Fits well on the parts and has a 3/8" drive for a torque wrench.

    Material seems to be too soft for use

    First off, why are there so many specific and proprietary bike parts? Why does one BB need to have a unique number of notches to differentiate it from another one?

    Aside from that, I only used this tool once to swap a BB from one bike to another. After one use, the part's metal had bent and was completely stuck on the 3/8

    slips off super easily

    Not sure if it is the fault of raceface's BB design, or this tool, but man this thing is a pain to use. As soon as you apply torque the tool starts slipping off the bottom bracket. Very hard to use with your bike in a stand or upside down. Best way is to lie bike on its side so you can get downward force so the tool doesn't slip off. Gets the job done, but very poor design.
