- Q & A
rugged power bank
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Power banks for devices are not a new market. There are several retailers offering a variety of options in power, construction, and compatibility. I opted for the Outdoor Tech Kodiak after a recommendation from a well respected ski publisher. My first impression is that this is a rugged power bank. It looks the part and simply put it feels structurally sound. I was wary of doing a drop test but I'd say it lives up to it's claim. I can't speak too much in the way of it's water proofing as I haven't dropped it in snow or water.
In terms of power, this thing definitely help up in keeping my devices charged. The flashlight feature is also a nice touch. It's a really bright LED that cycles between normal, high brightness, and strobe.
My only wish is that it was less bulky. It is heavier than it looks and I found it to be a little awkward in my coat pocket, but all in all not too bad. For reliable power with a rugged exterior, look no further than the Kodiak.
