Tungsten Pant

Staying warm on a powder day doesn’t mean you need to wiggle into two pairs of tights to wear under your snowpants in the morning. On your next freezing cold storm day, reach for the Tungsten Pant for plenty of insulating warmth to keep you cozy and ride the chairlift from bell to bell. Synthetic insulation packs a punch of warmth-retention without the added bulk, giving the pants a sleek profile. The 2L shell and integrated Gore-Tex membrane actively shed snow and moisture as it comes in contact with the pant for ultimate waterproofing abilities. To further seal out the elements, the pants feature an adjustable waist and internal ankle gaiters to ensure no fluffy powder enters the garment.

XL many sizes too small

These pants in XL have a waist closer to 32 or maybe 34, compared to the XL size guide of 37.5 to 41.5. OR fails to support larger sized ski enthusiasts, instead making pants like these that are simply longer in the larger sizes but not sized to support larger waists. Extremely frustrating. Further, OR requires disabling ad blockers to leave a review.

Excellent Pants, Please Get Sizing Figured Out

I bought the Tungsten Pants for use in wet, extreme cold, and as a wind layer for activities ranging from playing in the snow, alpine exploring, night photograpy in the cold, infrequent visits to arctic in winter, etc. The Tungsten pants use very comfortable and durable materials that I expect will last well. The pocket arrangement isn't perfect, but workable. The insulation is not the warmest you can get for a pant of this type, but is somewhere in the top half of offerings and very warm for the material weight. I prefer a lighter insulating outer layer anyway, and to add base and midlayers so I can use the pants in variable cold conditions. Overall, I think I will be happy with these pants. If you get a size that fits you well enough, these are excellent. Before I move on to the sizing problems, note that I will be keeping the large as I can work with it. I love OR products and have several jackets and pants... The big problem with the design of the pants is the fit. The medium wouldn't even button, although the legs circumference and length were perfect. I wear 33 waist / 30 length in most pants and my measuements are all medium on OR charts. I was forced into a large, and it fits too loose and long everywhere. I had to cinch the velcro waist adjusters all the way to get it close to fitting right without a belt. The legs on large become big and baggy and slightly too long. Going from one size to the next should not have so much fluctuation, but be an ordered increase in certain areas. I understand OR has a lot of body types to accomodate and can't make too many sizes, but it really seems like the size charts on several recent products are off, and worse- parts of the item fit and parts don't. OR, please revise your size charts and make garments to match the middle of the range of each size. Perhaps add a size around the average body types. Also, please make sure areas of the garments measure sensibly relevant to one another.

Would recommend!

Medium size fits well for 5'10" / 145lb male who sometimes skips leg day. Powder skirt fit snugly over size 11 double boa snowboard boot. Outer pant leg is barely wide enough to fit over binding's high back comfortably. Definitely not your standard "baggy snowboarder gear"-look. Without thermals: Warm down to 15-20F. With thermals: Only tested down to 0F windchill w/ 25mph winds. Still warm. Highly durable and waterproof even in wet snow conditions. Only used for resort skiing, so no backcountry opinion to offer.

Great Materials, Hips WAY Too Small! (2nd year in a row)

The combination of OR construction of insulated Gore-Tex ski pants could be a winner. The terrible sizing is a loser. I'm 5'9" 165 lbs. Hips 40", which is within OR Medium limits. Bought the '19-'20 version of this pant and hips were way too small and tight - thought it was an anomaly. Bought the '20-'21 version - Same Problem!!! OR - Please Fix This!!!

Good but a major flaw

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
M
Height:
5' 9"
Weight:
170

The pants seem perfectly good, and I would be happy to keep them. But as other have written, the waist is too small. I am reliably a M when ordering pants, but these were slim enough in the waist that it would not be possible to tuck layers into them. So I had no choice but to return them.

My Favorite!

I picked-up the Tungsten Jacket and Pants at the beginning of this season and have skied about 200,000 vertical feet in them. This is the best alpine outerwear I've ever owned! Just the right amount of insulation, durable, waterproof, pockets and vents where you want them, and very comfortable. I've worn this kit in sub-zero temps, heavy snow, rain, and sunshine. I was comfortable and dry across a huge range of conditions. Highly recommended gear for alpine skiing!

Sizing is off.

The pants seem like really good quality, however I can't squeeze into them. I'm 5'10". 180lbs. Normally wear a 32x32. Going off the sizing chart, a medium should have fit perfectly. The medium was way too small. The sizing chart is way off for these pants.

Runs small

I love all the features of the pants but they are too small. I have a size 31" waist and wear a size small in older OR pants but I couldn't even snap the button on these in small. I will return and get a medium.

Excellent design and quality

Perfectly dialed in for resort skiing, just had them out on a cold day at Whistler. I don't need ultralight gear, I want pants that will last and keep me warm and dry. As good as it gets..

Great looking insulated pants

I bought the Tungsten jacket last winter and loved it. Had to replace the old bibs I owned from another company and went with the pants. They have just enough insulation to give me confidence to wear them in the cold but not too much insulation. I have only tested them around the house as its summer but I am psyched to try them out. I like that they have suspender loops in case they're needed. Color goes well with the orange janket.
