Skyward 2 pant

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Size Bought:
Large
Height:

Weight:

I wore a winter running pant tight under pant and stayed warm and dry. Nice that the pant is not so bulky and pockets and zippers for ventilation were great.

Unsafe zippers

Size Bought:
S
Height:

I got these pants primarily for backcountry skiing, and was excited about the beacon pocket. So far, the zippers have continuously gotten stuck on extra cloth, to the point that it takes me 15-20 minutes to get the zipper open…including the beacon pocket. Would sure be a bummer to have my beacon stuck in a pocket due to a faulty zipper when I actually need it. Had my phone trapped in my pocket for 20 minutes too. Will be returning.

disappointing

I use these pants for the back country and ski areas. This is my second season with them and they are not proving to be durable and are not remotely waterproof this season. They have been spot-cleaned, never in a washer. One of the zippers has always caught on cloth. I do like the pocket placement(s) and venting. I have always been happy with OR jackets but these pants are a bummer.

Favorite Ski Pants

This is my second season wearing the Ascentshell Skyward II ski pant. These are by far my favorite ski pant because they are so lightweight and stretchy. I have to wear a knee brace due to an injury and these pants are wide enough with enough stretch for the brace to fit nicely. I am wearing an XL in these. I am 5'8" and a size 14 and I feel like I could go with either an XL or a Large even though my measurements are closer to the XL size chart. I prefer the XL for the knee brace and I just cinch the waist in tighter and I am fine. The pockets are fantastic and I love the thigh vents to dump heat when I get too warm. Yes, these are very lightweight so plan your base layers accordingly. I have worn my lightest weight merino layer on warm days and a down insulator on the coldest days and have been comfortable. Also, I have spilled coffee on these multiple times and they dont stain - win!!!

Fit runs small

The length was great, and wanted to love these... but the fit around the thighs and glutes isn't created for movement, or accommodates for a women's shape.

I really wanted to like these but the fit was weird

I really wanted to like these ski pants. I just tried these on and didn't use them or I would not have been able to return them. I thought they were high quality and were lightweight. They looked sturdy. If they fit, I would have kept them. But the fit was weird. Most importantly the thigh pockets wrap around to the inside of your thighs. So if you put something bulky in one, like your phone, it literally moves to the inside of your thigh and rubs on it. I have never had pants that do that. I can't imagine how uncomfortable that would be skinning or skiing. Also the hips were so huge and pouffy that I looked like a clown in them. Finally although these are advertised as having a beacon pocket, I could not find a pocket with an attachment cord, which other pants with beacon pockets have. Plus the whole problem with the pockets wrapping around to the inside of your thighs would have been even more uncomfortable with a bulky beacon in there. So sadly I am returning these pants.

Favorite ski pants

I love these ski pants. I was afraid to get something that felt so light and breathable because I didn't think they'd hold up but I've skied a few seasons in them and they've held up great. I have them in an old color (Prussian blue I think it is). Please keep making these!

I really like these pants and will be purchasing them again!

I use these pants mostly for inbounds skiing. With warm fleece lined leggings these pants keep me warm on single digit days and the large vents allow me to cool off when it warms up. I find these pants to be the perfect pants for skiing. The only downside is the cuff doesn't fit well over my boots.
