Why We Like The Skytour AscentShell Bib Pant

We pull on the Skytour AscentShell Bib to keep cool on the skin track and protected in the white room. The lightweight construction breathes and flexes with us, while the articulated knees and gusseted crotch increase range of motion for executing kick turns. On the descent, the wind-resistant, waterproof membrane keeps us dry and temperate as we find our line through trees.

Love These!

After trying on so many bibs in person and not finding a pair that fit my body type, I was hesitant to order online. However, these are the first pair of bibs I've purchased that flatter my figure but are also comfortable & functional. For reference, I am 5'3" 155lbs (size 8/10 in pants). Also love the zippers that make it easier for women to go to go to the bathroom! Wish I would have ordered earlier!!

Water resistant / breathable

Sat on wet ski lift a few times, base layers stayed dry. Breathable during hard powder runs and ski touring.

Cute but thin

Cute design but very thin material. Started seeing tearing after one day of use. I will keep them because I got the matching jacket but I would not buy these again.

I love these bibs

Great bibs, I like them so much more than expected. I'm 5'5, 135 with a skier booty and got a size M, fits baggy in a cute way. The only thing that's weird is the vents, they are pretty far to the back instead of directly on my sides.

Nice bibs - not the best waterproofing?

Love the fit and color of these bibs. Ive gotten around 20-25 days in them so far skiing in California and Colorado. They seems to be extremely durable, they look like new. My main complaint however is that on snowy days, i've found that my legs and butt end up damp underneath. They seem to be ok in light snow, or snowing on and off, but if its snowing hard and you're out there for a couple of hours, they end up soaking through. I like the pockets, the color, the durability seems good, theyre probably excellent for warmer ski tours, they were warm with proper layering even in single digits in Colorado.

does not fit people with an athletic or curvy build

I am so disappointment in yet another Outdoor Research product that does not fit me. I have an athletic build from cross training and a long seasons doing snow sports. These bibs, though highly recommended and obviously well made, do not fit my legs. I constantly feel excluded from high quality products like these because I have larger legs and a smaller waist. I'm 5'10" with a 29" waist and 44" hips for reference. I bought the women large and it was too tight on my legs, restricting the range of movement, and far too large on the top creating a large gap on the back that would definitely let snow into the bib. Please make more inclusive sizing!

Disappointed, not waterproof

Purchased these for downhill skiing, along with some sidecountry skiing. Admittedly the day was a wet one, with temperatures in the low-30s, a steady wet snowfall, and wet chairlifts. But that still doesn't excuse the butt soaking through.

Finally a fit for power butt & thighs, w/ some nice features

I am 5'6" with short legs and a larger butt and thighs and have a tough time finding bottoms that I can actually fit into and be mobile with. I typically wear a medium or 6-8 in bottoms. Some things I love about these: 1 - They actually fit my larger thighs and butt without constriction and allowing full range of motion. 2 - Related to 1, they are stretchy and very comfortable, and also quite quiet. They fit and act more like a softshell pant and not a typical ski pant. 3 - The pockets actually - gasp! - are big enough to hold a phone and other items and in a logical place to not restrict motion. 4 - The side zips truly cut down on a lot of the faff of going to the bathroom outdoors. 5 - The pants are thin and lightweight, and somehow still cut wind really well. Some room for improvement: 1 - The beacon pocket and clip in the bib is great, but it would be nice to see an option in a leg pocket. 2 - I wish the zips went further down the legs, although mostly selfishly so I can adjust a knee brace that I hopefully won't be wearing next season. The current configuration allows for considerable ventilation. 3 - The material does not feel very durable, so I question how it will hold up for brushier exits and field/rescue work over time. 4 - The straps are a bit of a pain to get in and out of, so some way to remove them for putting on and taking off would be nice. 5 - These are slightly long for me, so I would appreciate offering a short option. I have not yet tried these bibs in heavy precipitation, so I'm curious to see how they hold up in wetter situations.

Awesome fabric with stretch, needs some tweaks

I got these bibs for me and my husband. I love the stretch of them, much more flexible than any other bib I've found. I like how the vents are set up. Why does the women's not have a front zipper? And the straps don't unhook? They are annoying and near impossible to get on and off easily- please add a front zipper to the women's! Also hate the colors. Please add more and brighter color options.

Mostly happy, but wish for some things changed

Wore this in heavy snow, and remained dry which was nice. However, the beacon pocket placement makes no sense. You have your beacon in the beacon holster or in your pants pocket, so why is the beacon in the bib pocket? Wish they had the option to keep the beacon in the pants pocket.
