Great Hat

Got this hat for backcountry skiing and it's great. Snow doesn't get through event in the worst snowstorms.

It is warm in winter, cool in summer, keeps my head dry from rain, used to be many colors to choose from. The award faded I guess.

Perfect name for the perfect rain hat.

I live in Seattle, so it seemed appropriate that I would buy this hat. It's been a godsend this year because with the pandemic in full force, getting out for a walk was one of the few options available for exercise. No matter how hard the rain came down, my head was dry and warm. Same with the snow, I walked to work with it coming down and when I got there, the snow slid off my hat like magic. The hat is comfortable but you have to measure your head so that you get the right size. I've seen some complaints about it coming off in the wind but I haven't had that experience at all. It's a nice looking hat too and holds its shape. I don't like wearing raincoat hoods that impair my vision, so this hat has become a favorite. I have an unlined version for warmer weather but this one offers better rain protection. It's worth every penny!

Comfortable and keeps my dry and it's wide brim keeps the rain from running down my neck. Adjustable so fits well

Seinfeld and the Urban Sombrero

When I lived in Seattle we would joke about this hat and the Urban Sombrero episode of Seinfeld. I'm not certain if Seinfeld got its idea from OR and this hat or not. However, this is a good hat. I have another OR hat for hot conditions and this is indeed warmer. That being said, there is no one-trick pony when it comes to gear. This hat is great when it is raining or there is light snow and you want to keep your head shielded, or if its cold and you want a sunblock. Additionally, its pretty cool to wear in town as it kind of looks like a Stetson. A regular sunhat off the trail is fairly uncool. Again, OR marketed this for 'wet, rainy weather'. Finally, shells have functional and great hoods which work to put over your head when stopped and the winds are picking up. Coming down a scramble, or crossing a busy street in Seattle...you don't want that hood over your head-as you restrict visibility. The Seattle Sombrero will keep your head dry and warmer while granting you visibility. Two velcro strips allow you to fold up the brim even more. 5 star product.

Surprisingly keeps it's form even after being packed. Extremely warm and comfortable and does the job.
