Hemispheres Jacket
There's no need to sacrifice waterproofing for mobility and breathability with the Outdoor Research Men's Hemispheres Jacket. The Gore-Tex C-Knit 3L shell is lightweight and breathable while the Gore-Tex 2L panels with Stretch Technology adds movement-mirroring stretch. Moreover, it's fully waterproof, so when you're skiing powder up to your chest you won't have to worry about moisture permeating into your layers.
Generous hem-to-pit vents really let you take control of your own temperature regulation when you're really working hard, and high pocket placement ensures you'll never have to unbuckle the waist belt of your harness or pack to access the snacks. When it's really coming down and you're trying to keep snow off your head and face, the wire-brimmed halo hood securely conforms to your head or can be adjusted to fit over your helmet for full protection.

Decent light shell for skiing and climbing, unfortunately, it doesn't have thumb and wrist gaiters or a powder skirt. It does have a waist synch but it failed after the second use. I would not recommend this for either climbing or skiing.

A great shell that is super breathable and comfortable. If you like to ride with many layers under a shell this one fits over a base layer and two mid layers nicely. I wore this snowboarding at a resort and was perfect. OR makes some great alpine climbing shells but this is not the one.

I haven't personally used this jacket, but I got it for my brother when we go out skiing. I chose this one, because I am absolutely impressed by this jacket. It's highly functional if you're looking for a breathable, non-restrictive jacket when you're touring, but tough enough to rip through resort trees. Sizing is accommodating enough for a few layers underneath, I got my brother a large because that's what he wanted, but I think he would have been just fine in a medium, for a more tailored fit.

OR hit the nail on the head with this jacket. The Stretchy Gore-Tex C-Knit is a game changer and adds the perfect amount of mobility in the most ideal locations. This jacket fits like a glove over an Arcteryx Atom LT and The North Face Ventrix. The large side zips helped me stay cool while touring and boot packing and they are easy to zip back up before descending. It has the perfect amount of pockets and is very well designed.

Insane comfort and mobility!
- Fit:
- True to size
I have been using Gore-Tex jackets for about 15 years now, nothing compares when it comes to waterproof/durability. Until now, those hard shells were stiff, and almost rigid feeling, when compared to the soft shells of today. The new Hemisphere line from Outdoor Research places a new "stretchy" gore-tex fabric in areas where range of motion where constricted (under and behind the shoulders, neck area, back) It is quite remarkable, how comfortable it makes the jacket feel, when doing funny movements like strapping into a snowboard, ripping skins, or rolling down the windows on a big air! It is really liberating to be able to throw your arms in the air, without your sleeves riding up past your wrist and snow jamming down your gloves! I've used this jacket just a few days, and this stretch technology is the real deal paired with the time tested waterproofness of Goretex. Blown away! I am 6'2" and i got a size XL, as i'm a snowboarder and enjoy a more baggy relaxed fit.
