Outdoor Research Helium Insulated Hooded Plus Jacket
Worn on its own in cool weather or worn as a layering piece in cold weather, we like how the Outdoor Research Insulated Hooded Plus Jacket has pieced together eco-friendly fabrics into a versatile, lightweight hoodie. The innovative Vertical X ECO SR insulation mixes Repreve polyester made from recycled plastic bottles with Sorona polymer, which is partially plant-based to reduce our reliance on fossil-based materials. Easily packable and now available in plus sizes, it's our go-to puffy jacket for mild temperatures and a mid-layer that we can fit under a shell or keep in our pack for extra warmth when we stop for lunch, reach the summit, or kick it at the campsite.

So disappointed...
I really wanted to look past a few of the other reviews and not believe they would make a jacket the fits that terribly but it's true. I followed the size chart and everything. It is huge! The area around the chest and arms is so ill-fitting and large that it wouldn't even do its job properly, at all, to keep you warm.

Super lightweight
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great jacket - super lightweight compared to my NF puffer. I do see what others wrote about the sleeves - they seem a little on the larger side but not something I mind. I am 5'5 and ~112 lbs and fit comfortably in the XS.

lightweight and good warmth
I like that this is really lightweight but good warmth in mild cold weather. I've only worn it around town so far in about high 30s degree weather at coldest with usually a T and flannel and it's kept me warm even on a bike. It's also great that I can wear it on warmer days like 50 but I don't get too hot. When it's cold and raining I wear it under the helium rain jacket when I bike. I have a size S which gives a little room for layers underneath (I'm 5' 2", 110lbs). Look forward to seeing how it will do in colder weather - !

Nice jacket but can't get past awful fit
I should have listened to reviews about the strange fit of this jacket because they are spot on. While the jacket is nice, the fit is too far off to keep. This jacket is really close around the hips (so close I wouldn't be able to layer much underneath) but the upper arms are far too big. Not only does this make for a strange fit, it looks so odd on the body. This one went back same day and am going on three weeks waiting for refund. :(

Love the color: tangerine!
I bought this because I really like bright colors and this delivers, I'd call it more tangerine/orange-ish rose, than red, but it's a GREAT color. I like the two side zipper pockets, inside pockets and the fitted hood. I'm 5-8 and the sleeve length is great as often things that fit have too short sleeves, plus it's a bit long over my hips which I like. The attached tag reads Womens M, but the sewn in label reads M/M, so I'm thinking maybe the longer sleeves and shoulder roominess is actually a Mens cut....?

stoked on this jacket
The fit is a little odd - the hips need to be a little wider, the bust is very roomy, arms are long. Regardless, I still love the jacket, it's warmth, packability, and color are all awesome!

Should have stuck to my normal size
I listened to the reviews and bought a size up... should have stuck to my normal size. I'm 5'6" 130lbs and would usually order a small. Got the medium... sleeves are past my thumbs, really baggy fit. I'll be Using it for Search and Rescue; my team's color is orange.

Perfect layering and spring piece
I love my helium jacket for spring activities and layering in the winter. It fits great and is surprisingly warm.

Been living in this jacket!
Great as a light or mid layer for resort skiing and touring. Comfy at home and about town. I love it! I sized up for an extra baggy fit and it still works under my OR shell. I got an XL (bust ~38", tend to wear size 10 in tops). I ordered a large and returned it, it was still loose but a little more stylishly snug.

My favorite jacket I've ever owned
I have never had a jacket that is so incredibly functional, fits so well, and is ORANGE. It packs down pretty small, is pretty lightweight, yet is warm and lightly waterproof and just good for everything. I've climbed in it and skied in it and hiked in it. I wore it many times a week for a whole year and only got one little wear spot on one elbow (patched with tape now). I love how it fits, and how it breathes enough to wear on chilly days when I'm climbing so I can keep warm while belaying and not have to take it on and off. I love the zipper pockets and helmet compatible hood.
