Furio Pant

You don't have to take furious winter weather sitting down, you can fight back with the Outdoor Research Men's Furio Pants. Designed and built to put the smack down on burly big mountain weather, the Furios have a hybrid-mapped construction to make them bombproof in prone-to-wear areas, breathable where you need it, and packable for your convenience.

The bulk of the Furio is composed of a two-layer GORE-TEX shell with Paclite technology to keep them waterproof, breathable, and packable. Meanwhile, the seat and knees are reinforced with a three-layer GORE-TEX shell with C-Knit technology, so those areas that tend to see more contact with snow stay nice and dry. The scuff guards are a nylon, Kevlar blend that won't piece out after a season's worth of wear from boots, edges, snow, and ice. To keep the pants comfortable, the Furios have a gusseted crotch, articulated knees, and an integrated belt that is adjustable, so you can dial in the perfect fit to accommodate any extra layers.

The fits is to tight. movement felt restrictive

I gave them away! the fit was to tight felt like i was being restrained. it fits good on my 32 waist but doing activities felt like i was being restrained.

Furio GORE-TEX® Pants

The size is very good and the Gore-Tex is perfect, so I am very satisfied.

Looks like a great product

Unfortunately these didn't fit, so I can only speculate on their performance. They look nice!

Seems a shame

It's a shame the way this worked out for me. I used the old OR Mentor pants for several years and was very happy with them: I wore them on ice climbs and winter hikes in the White Mountains and summer climbs in the Alps. Fabulous pants and when they eventually began to leak, OR made good on their guarantee and gave me store credit to buy something new. I bought the Furio pants to replace the old Mentors. I wore them twice: the first time on a short run up some dry tooling lines without crampons on my feet or ice screws hanging from my harness. I thought they were great. I liked the fit and I could climb in them no problem. Then today I wore them ice climbing in the Whites and all it took was for a couple of ice screws to rub across the pant leg and I had two holes making the pants pretty useless. It's a shame because the old Mentors were so tough and OR's guarantee is so good. It's odd since I'd done the same climb with the Mentor pants on several times and with the same selection of ice screws. The only difference was the durability of the material used on the Furio pant leg. Alas.

Better PAY ATTENTION to the comments/Reviews on FIT

Im a 32x32 pants...ordered these pants and had to return them due to the restrictive and wonky fit. Unusable. Super trim fit and the crotch cut was very prohibitive and restricted movement. Sent them back and going to try some bibs instead. I had high hopes for these pants and they checked a LOT of boxes for me....especially being full zip....Seems like I'm not the only one that had issues with the fit. I would suggest going up a size from what you'd normally do.

Much slimmer than the previous model

I had an old pair of Furio Pants, which were excellent and I wore them most days last winter, whilst guiding winter climbs. Really tough material and an excellent fit. This new version is much less durable and far too slim around the thighs. It's a real shame, as they nicked on their first outing and are far too restrictive for climbing activities.

Great waterproof pant but sizing needs work.

Great waterproof pant. I run hot so really appreciate the full length zipper to dump heat. My only con with these is the sizing - had to up my medium size to a large as the waist and design around the pelvis were restrictive. Now the legs are a little long. Tough for a tweener like myself - 5'10 and 175 for reference.

New design reduces versatility of pant

Activities I use the pant for: backcountry skiing, alpine mountaineering, backpacking. Review: I owned a prior version of this pant and loved them for all activities, but mainly used them for backcountry skiing in the PNW. When I had a seam give out, OR replaced them with the updated fit, and there have been several changes to the fit that make this pant less functional and versatile (I'm am 5'11", average build for reference). 1) The thigh is fairly snug, such that the thigh pocket is not functional for anything more than a phone. I previously used this as a beacon pocket, but my beacon now is uncomfortable to carry in the thigh pocket. 2) Leg openings are so snug that it is difficult to get the pant to fit over the top of a ski boot. My boots are fairly trim in profile, and I have a hard time getting the leg opening over the top of the boot. Usually requires unbuttoning and unzipping the leg opening and skiing with it open. 3) The fit is so trim that I have ripped the crotch seam twice stepping up a steep incline. I have needed to have the pant warrantied each time. Now that it's happened again, I am going to look for a different pant. Disappointing, as I really love OR's work and the old version of this pant was spectacular. That being said, the belt has been much improved and now has a hook with webbing loops on each hip. These are positioned to be away from your hip bones so they are comfortable when wearing a backpack with a hip belt. Overall, I cannot recommend the current version of this pant (winter 2019/20). My hope is that OR makes some fit improvements to bring this pant back to its former glory, but until then, I don't recommend it.
