Great wind blockage, waterproofing
In this competitive range of coats there are better options at this price point, but not many.

Great for wind
From the mountains of Colorado to the windy streets of Chicago in November. This jacket has been a mainstay for me whenever the temps begin to dip below 30 and I need to protect myself from the wind and snow. The modularity of the jacket lets you wear the soft liner as a standalone or just the shell for wind resistance. I'd take this as a solid jacket system for something to wear to the office if you feel so inclined. I'd probably keep the goretex in your pack for if it's really rainy.

30 years in -40+ weather.
I have seen some negetive reviews about the inner jacket not being warm enough for any sort of cold weather. That's just not the case at all. The inner jacket is just fine. Up until April of 24, I spent my entire life in the midwest where it hits -30 for a minimum of 2 weeks every single year. The rest of the winter it's hovering around 0 degrees. The jacket is plenty warm. What people fail to realise is that heft and size, don't always equal warmth. The outer shell is great, it does what it's supposed to. The inner shell is extremely comfortable. It's extremely light weight, it's warm, and it holds up the way I need it to. I really couldn't ask for anything more outside of I wish I had a hood for when it's windy and I don't feel like wearing the outer shell. I love the jacket, truthfully. I've bought numerous heavy winter jackets in my life to help match the sub zero temps, this is 1 of 3 jackets I have bought that can hold up to it. As I said, I wish it had a hood, but outside of that, it's fantastic.

Great combo for light use
The waist is noticeably tighter than the rest of the jacket which is okay sometimes but it caused the jacket to bunch up when moving around. The build quality feels good and it's comfortable to wear. The zip out liner has been a nice quick run out jacket as well.

Water in Pockets
Bought this jacket a while ago, after using it in a Vancouver BC winter, can tell you that youll need layers, Its not very warm, as others have said, good for spring/fall, I have found that water starts coming into the pockets on moderately rainy days via the stitching, I guess its not full sealed, so dont keep anything super important in the hand pockets. Zipper can be a little finicky to start .

Ideal for fall and spring
I was thinking it was warmer. For a parka... it's suitable in fall and spring.... forget to use it in winter or you need to do a hard physical training or activity or put some layers.

Excellent jacket!
The quality of this jacket is fantastic! The materials feel great and zipper is smooth. It keeps me warm and dry during the wet winter weather and I love the 3 in 1 feature for all year use. Plus it fits and looks great! Very pleased with it!

it's OK
It's really not as warm as I had hoped, you'll likely want to add some layering underneath in cold temps. It also has the worst/most finicky zippers of I think anything I've ever worn.. Nearly every time I try to zip it up it gets caught somewhere along the way - and it's not even getting caught on anything, it just sticks. The big pros for me are the good weather resistance (impervious to high winds and water). Also a note for sizing, I find it to be peculiarly tight around the armpits - I can fit in most of OR's small sized tops fine, but even this in a medium can cut into the pits a bit much.

Not warm
The purpose of a 3 in 1 jacket is so you can adjust the layers based on the conditions. This jacket falls way short of that. The inner jacket has absolutely no insulation. I really don't see wearing this jacket in temperatures below 40 degrees for any length of time unless you are moving or layer, which is sort of the point of a 3 in 1. I also don't see ever just wearing the inner jacket since it isn't going to provide any more warmth than then outer jacket on its own and the outer jacket is waterproof/windproof. Definitely not worth the price tag. I've worn 3 in 1 jackets from another outdoor brand for over 20 years and I now I'm wondering why I switched brands. Very disappointed.

Great jacket
The jacket is great. I love the 3 in 1 system. I do wish they would fill the inner jacket more to bring the overall warmth up for cold temperatures.
