Flex-Tex II Gaiters

The Outdoor Research Flex-Tex II Gaiters stop dirt, mud, and snow from entering trail running shoes, hiking boots, and cross-country ski boots. The single drawcord closure wraps around to the back of this low-profile gaiter, tightening into an "X" shape to fit a wide variety of shoes and boots. A high-visibility BioThane instep strap secures this gaiter to your shoes' or boots' soles, and the hook-and-loop front closure ensures a tight seal against debris.

Decent, but not durable

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I enjoyed these for approximately four trips totaling about 20 days of trail. They both shredded on the same trip, about two days apart, with the left side giving up the instep strap (and the lack of a grommet there made it harder to improvise one.) The right one gave up a day later when the lace hook pulled out when snagged by a branch. I don't know if I'd buy them again, I think I'd like to either go lighter weight and more breathable (and presumably less durable) or stick to the more bomb proof / less breathable gaiters (typical of a lot of the killer OR stuff like the Crocodiles etc.) This kind of split the difference and IMO didn't excel in either direction.
