Too Short

I and 5'7" and weigh 120-125lbs. I bought these pants in size XS. They fit perfect in the waist, butt, and thighs. However, they fell too short. Had I gotten a size Small, they may have been longer but then they wouldn't have fit right everywhere else. Other than being too short, they are great and do a good job of resisting moisture when it rains.

I hiked in these every day on the Appalachian Trail for 54 miles over 4 days. Perfect weight for mid fall, rain fell right off of them. Held up well when climbing and sliding over rocks. The 4 just fit and the 6 was a bit loose. I kept the 4 and am happy I did because they loosen up a bit as you wear them. After a wash, they were perfect to wear around town for the rest of my trip. Until my next hike, I’m wearing them for basically everything. Pockets could be improved - the front zip pocket is too small for a phone but perfect for nut butter packets.

Nice pants!

These are excellent pants for being active in warm weather. I bought them a couple of months ago, and since then I've been wearing them for day hikes on the weekends and to work on other days. I do a bike commute (4 miles each way) several times a week in the Southern California sunshine. These pants are great for that -- almost as comfortable as wearing shorts, but they keep the sun off, and I can wear them right into the lab when I get to work! I'm 5'7" and ~135 lbs, and I wear size 6 pants in most brands. For these, I ordered up based on some reviews I'd seen -- the size 8 pants are just a smidge looser than my usual pants and are a little big in the waist, but they do breathe really well and leave plenty of room to move. (If I order another pair, I'll get the 6s, though, since they're pretty stretchy and I usually prefer a snugger fit.) My only complaint is that I'm getting a little pilling already at the small of my back, where my daypack rubs against the pants on hikes. It's also true that none of the pockets really fits my phone (an iPhone 7+) -- it can't zip into the side pocket, and it'll fall out of a back pocket if you sit down, so that's a little inconvenient. The fabric is so stretchy that you need to be prepared for prominent "pocket lumps" and a little bit of sagging if you put heavy things in the pockets. These are very comfortable pants, though, and they more or less pass as "normal" clothes -- a great choice if you prefer to wear breathable/technical clothes in all kinds of situations!

Tough fabric but the styling falls short

A tough pant but with a few key design flaws! I wear these pants A LOT for work and play but I wish the design was a little more flattering. Yes, the fabric will 100% pill from abrasion, but that never bothered me much. A zippered thigh pocket is nice but falls short of being large enough for a phone. On the bright side, the OR Ferrosi's have a drawstring cuff for cinching the ankles, which is clutch when summer heat approaches. The biggest con to the design and fabric choice is that the calf and ankle cut is too wide. The movement-mirroring fabric tends to sag out a lot on the lower legs and tend to have a permanent bell-bottom look instead of the more sleek, tapered cut that the Men's Ferrosi pants showcase. When hiking or climbing outdoors, the saggy material gets caught on brush or stumps. Even worse, when it's warm out, the baggy and oversized material traps heat at the calves causing discomfort instead of breathability. Another key design flaw is that the back pockets tend to fail instantly due to the stitching design. Instead of individual pockets with a bit of extra material, these are sown directly to pant material. Meaning that instead of saving weight, the first time you climb into a wide chimney or scoot on your bottom to rig a rappel on some desert tower, boom, the stitching blows out and you have two useless back pockets. Mine lasted two full days before I destroyed them climbing. While on the fourth pitch of a big line in Red Rocks, my ID and credit card fell out of my back pocket that unknowingly failed due to the stitching design. Luckily, they were trapped in the cuffed ankle and I managed to snatch them before they took a bigger ride. I saw the men's version of these and they look way better and I might just order those the next go around.

I just received these pants and think they look and feel really great. I’m exchanging them for one or maybe even two sizes up from normal though. Second pair of OR pants I’ve bought and I had the same problem before. Got to remember to size up for the future because OR pants are awesome!

I Put on these pants and liked the feel and fit immediately. The only exception was a little gap In the waist area Nothing a belt wouldn’t fix. Luckily I noticed the internal draw cinch to adjust the waist area! Such a solid pair of pants. Also have upf 50!! Cannot wait to try these out fishing in the keys soon. A definite must.

I normally am a 4 or 6 (in Prana hiking pants, I'm a 6). I bought the 4 and 6 to try on, and they're both too small. And also, too short. :( I just returned and exchanged for an 8; am hoping that fits and is also long enough. (I'll update this when I receive them.) I'm 5'9", so I'm tall but not crazy tall. The material is great, really lightweight and stretchy. Hoping to take these on a hiking trip in South Africa. O.R., please consider making in a long!

Outdoor Research Ferrosi Pant - Women's 4 These pants are super comfortable and stretchy. I wore them on a 10 mile Utah alpine hike in October. They kept my legs nice and warm, while staying dry and breathable. Because of their stretch, they would probably also be good for climbing. I highly recommend these pants!

I don't consider myself hard on my clothes or gear, but after owning these just a few months, they are already falling apart. Seam in the back split on a backpacking trip, which I dutifully stitched up. I've worn them hiking a few times since and now see small holes forming in "high traffic" areas. The material is just too flimsy, which is a shame since I really liked how they fit and feel. Maybe I just got a bum pair, but I've never had a pair of outdoor pants fall apart this quickly on me.

I got the chance to try these, and had to have them. I'm not just saying that! I seriously never wanted to give them back. What can I say that 30+ great reviews haven't? First of all, as a taller woman with wider hips, finding adequate pants is a challenge on its own. These fit beautifully and so comfortably! I was impressed with the quality and the material - it seems super durable and strong. I first took them on a long alpine hike to bag a tall peak, glissaded in the snow on my butt, and scrambled on rock on my butt, and they showed no signs of wear and tear. Any water I got on them beaded off beautifully. Most importantly, they let me move and do my thing! I climb, lunge, high step, run, walk, and scramble in them with ease of movement. I don't think about the pants at all, which is what I want. They make great rock climbing pants too. The side pocket is sleek, yet functional with a zipped up pocket, and there is also an internal lace system to cinch them up. All in all, the best pants I ever had for active wear!

I've owned 4 pairs of Ferrosi pants and they c r u s h. Great for warm days on the glacier, any weather whilst hiking, and all climbing. For glacier / snow travel, they don't hold up well to crampons (I've put a hole through a pair with mine), but boy do they breathe well & protect from the sun on those hot glacier days - personal pro-tip - sitting in the snow to cool off, but having the pants dry off quickly!. For climbing, they've held up to the rock pretty well with some minor pilling over a few months, but *never* any holes, no matter how many slips n falls I've taken. That said, I have been on the search for explicit "rock pants" so I can keep the life in my ferrosi's longer. For hiking/backpacking, they hold up great over multiple days. I've worn them up to 4 days in a row (in the summer!) with comfort. They do tend to stretch out a bit over a few days, but this doesn't affect their functionality. All in all, these are my #1 for multisport trips and activities.

in between sizes so i bought both 4 and 6 in black and night (so 4 pairs). i intended to keep only 1 pair but ended up keeping both 6's. they are so comfortable, light, stretchy and breathable that you can wear them to sleep.. however the crotch is on the short side but sizing up when you are in-between def helps. blue is such a pretty color. havent tried in the wild yet so cannot comment on durability or water repellence (so far seems it can only hold very light shower)

My girlfriend tried these out and had some feedback to share (they also look great on her): "These pants are good for chilly days if you are planning on being active and are light enough for warmer days as well. Lots of give in the thighs and a comfortable waistband. Haven't tried it, but they would probably be compatible with a thin baselayer underneath for extra warmth."

I gave these pants as a gift. They run true to size. She usually wears a size 4 and a size 4 worked well for her. These pants are lightweight, comfortable, stretchy, and durable. They are breathable for warm days but also block wind and are water resistant for the chilly days. They are great for hiking, rock climbing, yoga, and whatever else you desire to use them for. They dry fast and block the sun. I would highly recommend this product.

I got these pants for my girlfriend and she really likes them. She has a pair of the Ferrosi convertible pants, but says she likes these better because the zipper on the leg can be a little bit annoying. She likes how much stretch there is to them as it makes climbing and hiking more comfortable and less restrictive. Great pants!

I really like these pants and just got my second pair. They are a nice, stretchy and lightweight fabric. Inside the waist is a really soft brushed fleece material which adds even more comfort. The drawstring waist means you don't need to pack a belt. They do well to shed a light rain and are my go to spring hiking and camping pants.

i wore these on a three-hour flight, to set up base camp and on three subsequent days of day-hiking. I like them. The waist could be a bit more structured but a belt helps. Dirt brushes off so they stay pretty clean, and they're quick dry. Conditions were pretty windy for a couple days and I don't remember my legs being cold. They also don't take up much room in my bag, and they fit fine over hiking boots. I thought the length may be too long but no problem. Thumbs up.

I bought these over the winter and while they have a good stretch to them they run a little small. I couldn't fit anything in underneath them even a thin layer. Alone they aren't super warm and while stretchy isn't loose enough for me to do yoga or extra bending rock climbing. I like the shape for generally wearing and they are comfortable, but not quite what I had expected.
