I wear these on my annual walleye fishing trip to Northern Ontario, for daily activities in cooler weather when not fishing and also I've hiked in these pants a few times as well. On warmer days, when fishing, the knee zips convert the pants to shorts very easily. That said, I typically don't zip off the pants on warmer days, as the pant material is light enough to allow airflow through the material and I'll typically unzip the quarter zips on the cuff of the pant vs using the knee zips to convert the pants into shorts. And when it rains - the pants fit very well under rain gear. These were great the couple of times I hiked in them as well. And the material is durable enough to withstand yard work activities and such. I typically wear a size 34 for jeans - however, I found that size 36 was the fit I was looking for in these pants.
