Light blue is 30 UPF, not 50+ as listed
- Size Bought:
- xs
- Height:
- 5' 2"
- Weight:
- 120
BC.com has this listed as 50+ UPF, but the color I got ("Iceberg") is actually rated at 30, which I didn't find out until it arrived and I saw the tag. I wouldn't have bought it had I known that. From the OR website: "The lighter colors feature UPF 30+ sun protection, while the darker colors feature UPF 50+ protection." The sleeves are plenty long, the hood leaves room for a hat or helmet, and it's long enough to tuck in and the waist isn't bulky where it would be under other layers. For comparison, the fabric is slightly tougher than the Mtn. Hardwear Crater Lake hoody, might be more abrasion-resistant. Haven't used it yet, so no report on how breathable/sweaty/post-use smelly it is.

AWESOME sun shirt
I got this sun shirt for a pilgrimage this summer - walking 10-15 miles/day in Texas and the deep south May-July. It is lightweight, soft, and comfortable. Excellent sun protection, plus it's wicking!

Not quite what I expected!
It's a very functional shirt, but the look and fit were unusual. There is a horizontal line that runs across the shirt but it goes at a slight diagonal, which makes the chest area look asymmetrical. Not very attractive honestly.

Excellent wind and spf sun layer!
Almost more of a light and breathable wind layer w the bonus added SPF protection so vital to endurance activities in CO and similar environs. I do get hotter than I prefer above 65 in it, but that's where OR sunsleeves come in! I love the Astro Sun hoody-hood accommodates a visor and my ponytail though I wish it had a ponytail hole. Excellent long arms and a thumb/finger loop if desired. Love for trail runs, hikes, disc golf, paddle boarding, Lounging.

Versatile piece of gear
So light, breathable, and blocks light wind. I use this when I need a little more coverage than my Echo hoodie. I wish more sun hoodies had half zips like this! Great to use for trail running.

Almost perfect, would still buy again
So lightweight and stretchy and breathable! I wear it over a sport bra and it's super comfortable against the skin. I've done a lot of miles wearing it under a heavy pack, and it always felt smooth and silky with no chafing. The hood is roomy enough to fit over a ponytail or a bun, and stays in place well. The sleeves are long and paired with the thumb loops made sungloves unnecessary for me while hiking. Only issue is the pocket. As others have said, the placement is absolutely ridiculous. Even though the access is high on the hip, the pocket bag goes down to the hem, so any items are completely inaccessible with a harness or waistband. Even if you're not wearing something with a waistband, the items in the pocket bang against your hip/upper thigh in an annoying way while you're moving. If it was a chest pocket this would be the perfect sun shirt.
