Weird fit!!!

I will start by saying that I knew these pants would fit weird based off all of the reviews. It really is such a shame, these rain pants have so much potential! I wear a size 16 and both XL/XXL in OR pants. I bought these in a 1x. The butt is tighter than I would like, the thighs are fine, and below the thighs are HUGE. It's very confusing- I don't think the large leg fit is to accommodate boots because they taper in slightly towards the bottom- it's around the knee that they're unnecessarily huge. Maybe they're designed for folks who wear knee pads or knee braces? It just looks and feels sloppy to me. My other big complaint is the waistband. The waist hits right around the belly button and is generous in size compared to the tight butt and hips but the shock cord (which probably contributes to making these pants more ultralight) is ineffective. I wish these had a more substantial elastic waistband or draw cord. I am an outdoor educator so I sit on the ground a lot while teaching and every time I sit down I have to hold them up so my butt doesn't show. As always with the Aspire goretex line, the quality, breathability and waterproofing are top notch without question!! If OR fixes these weird fit issues then these will be the best rain pants ever!

Not waterproof at all

I've been using these pants where I work as a field biologist and have not been impressed. Everytime I wear them in moist grass or rain I end up wet. Just got back from a field with knee high moist grass, top off my pants and I'm soaked. Not impressed.

Fit is not right

I'm sure these pants would have functioned well; they certainly seem to be made well. However, I did not get an opportunity to test them, because the fit was very off. The waist and thighs fit like I expected, but, like some other reviews mentioned, the bottom of these pants are exceptionally wide. I know this is partly necessary to help get pants over shoes and whatnot, but this is over the top. I felt like I was tripping over myself, so I ended up returning them.

Keeps me dry

These rain pants keep me dry, but they are quite wide in the leg area. I'm only 5'3" and skinny so they end up looking a little like clown pants...but I do stay dry!

decent rainpants

These rain pants seem great. Not too tight in the hips. My only complaint is that they are pretty long/ loose at the bottom of the legs with no way to cinch them around the ankles. I haven't used them in heavy rain yet but they seem durable.

Not for those with shorter legs and wider hips

Fit me all wrong. Could not get it over even a base layer for me. Really tight on top and the length is super long. Do not recommend for those with slightly wider hips and shorter legs. I'm 5'7 with slightly shorter legs and this was way too long. Giving it four stars because the waterproof component holds up very well.

Good rain product

I wore these during a hard rain and wind storm and I was very dry! I wish these pants had pockets in the front, there is only a pocket on the butt which seems very inconvenient.

Ridiculously baggy

These are ridiculously huge through the thighs and calves. Seriously why do they make rain pants like you're wearing stiff hammer pants underneath and need a bell bottom! I got a size medium to wear over my field clothes and the waist is good (5'4- 135lbs). I like the draw string for ease but the bulk from the bagginess is just too much to make these functional.

My Snow Pants for the Next Decade

These pants are everything you'd want for snow adventure. Very durable and waterproof. No need for me to get any others for the next decade or more.

Content

I took these out in the field yesterday and was happy with their performance. I got a size Large and they were a little big on me which was the intent of buying a size up so that I could wear layers beneath. I figured out the drawstring and that solved the issues I was having with the fit. They were waterproof and easy to move in.
