Excellent Warm Work Glove
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Dealing with snow removal and animals in the cold New Hampshire winters near the White Mountains, I had tried various insulated work gloves, but nothing really kept my hands warm. For years I've had OR mitts - GoreTex shells and various liners. They have always been excellent quality, and I've always highly recommended OR products. At some point I stumbled across these work gloves and ordered a pair. I was amazed at how warm they were compared to other insulated work gloves. Granted, if it is in single digits and you aren't moving too much (plowing with a tractor or snow blowing) they aren't going to keep you toasty warm, but for slightly warmer temps or any sort of moderate activity they are excellent. I've beat them up over two winters and they are still in great shape. The leather surface hasn't shown any major signs of wear and they are still just as warm as ever. Any time it dips down into the 40s or below and I need to be dealing with brush, firewood, cleaning animal pens or whatnot, these are on my hands. They do feel a little snug for the size - I typically can get away with L for work gloves, but these were too tight. Ordering them large will probably help give a little extra room for keeping your fingers warm. They aren't 100% waterproof, but they are good enough. I'm about to order a second pair.

Beloved Glove
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
After I may or may not have potentially left my dear Kincos on top of my car after a long day in the backcountry I was absolutely heartbroken. I felt lost. Fresh snow meant nothing to me anymore. I didn't know what I would possibly do the next time I had to throw chains on my tires, walk to the grocery store in a snowstorm, go skiing, or even if I just wanted to be comforted by the sweet smell of well-worn leather. Outdoor Research came in and saved me. This work glove now goes everywhere with me. I have used these touring, at the resort, driving, and general use. They took a few days of shoveling to break in, but now they are so comfortable, well conformed to my hand, and near and dear to me. They are easy to get on quickly. I have treated them with Granger's leather treatment, and after much use they are finally getting that beautiful color of worn and treated leather. They have good insulation and I have yet to get cold wearing them. I foresee these lasting a very long time, and are quickly becoming my best friend. I highly recommend that you purchase these gloves if you're looking for an all-around great leather glove. I, for one, will only be putting my coffee on the roof of my car from now on. Don't travel in the winter without a proper pair of work gloves.

Well rounded

These gloves work for nearly any task in cold weather. From shoveling the driveway to glassing for elk in late season hunts, these will keep your fingers toasty. I plan on using them while ski touring and ice climbing as well. A little too bulky for delicate work, but the warmth is well worth it.

Excellent gloves for multiple uses
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
These gloves came recommended by my gearhead. They were what I needed and what I wanted before I even knew it. My gearhead helped me with sizing and I've found myself grabbing these gloves not only for outdoor work... shoveling, yard work, tree maitenance... but I am confident I will be using these for alpine skiing as well. They are soft enough to wear out in cooler weather, but tough enough to put through the elements. Thanks Backcountry!
