You need a backpack that can keep up with your active weekends.

Last Saturday, after navigating through a labyrinth of trees, you hopped in your canoe, paddled into a slot canyon, and then climbed your way out. Maybe you were in the middle of an adventure race, or maybe you were just enjoying one of your typical weekend days—whatever the case, the Osprey Women's Tempest 16 Backpack is an ideal carrier for your gear and water when you're spending long days outdoors. This lightweight, top-loading backpack holds up to twenty pounds of gear, while its mesh-padded shoulder straps and hip-belt—specially designed to fit your female figure—wrap you in breathable, cushioned comfort. The hip-belt's ErgoPull adjustment makes it easy to tighten or loosen on the fly, and the shoulder and sternum straps can also be adjusted for a perfect fit tailored to your load. The ventilating ridged foam back panel keeps you fresh through long day hikes or multi-sport excursions.

Loop and bungee attachments hold tools and trekking poles, and multiple smaller pockets hold items you'd like to quickly access. Control the volume of your load with side compression straps, and use the straps to hold additional items. The top lid protects gear in the main compartment, and the rugged nylon fabric stands up to the abuse that long days outdoors throw at it.

Not too big, not too small

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I'm always surprised by how much I can carry in this guy. I was worried that my 3 Liter bladder wouldn't fit, but it actually squeezes in just fine with room for a jacket and the necessities on a day trip.

Without the bladder, it easily fits my harness, shoes, chalk and helmet, plus a light jacket, snacks, water, barley soda, or whatever other small knick-knacks I decide to bring climbing.

My main complaint/reason it didn't earn 5 stars is that the mesh fabric on the side pockets and bottom has proven to be less than durable - it snagged pretty significantly on my first trip out with it while I was scrambling across a granite scree field on a climbing approach. I've been just as rough with other packs, so I was disappointed when I noticed that it had ripped. So far the holes in the side pocket haven't resulted in any lost goods, but I worry that they'll snag more every time I squeeze a full size Nalgene into its pocket.

Other than that, I love the design of the pack, it fits really well and the panel on the back makes it super breathable on hot days. I bring this pack with me on pretty much every day-long adventure I go on.

    Great gift for my wife

    • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I bought this a while back as a gift for my wife and she loves it. She takes it everytime we go hiking or climbing and it's got more than enough room to carry all of her stuff. On top of that, it's incredibly durable and doesn't have a single cut or scratch on it after trekking through some dense underbrush. Absolutely worth the money.

    Great Day Pack

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This makes a great daypack, I have always been able to fit what I needed! Great support.

Thanks Corinne! The Tempest pack is a great addition to the Osprey family. For the longest time, I have asked for a women's version of the men's Talon, and Osprey delivered! The cool thing is that if you like this pack, Osprey has 5 volumes to choose from in the Tempest series!

    Osprey is my One-and-Only

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have only used Osprey packs from day one of getting involved with backpacking. This is the perfect day pack. I'm taking this down to Moab with me on a canyoneering and mountain biking trip, and I am so stoked to see more of its functionality. I'm 5'5'', 145 pounds, with a 36DDD chest. This pack in the S/M fits me, very well. Belt is a little high, but comfortable. Great product, super satisfied.

Just took this on a 5 mile hike, so nothing too crazy. It started to hurt my shoulders at about 3.5 miles. Pack could be a couple inches longer (seeing as the hip belt is high), which is my bad. I should have gone for the M/L.

    Osprey is my One-and-Only

Thank you so much for the review! I love hearing from folks who are committed to Osprey in the same way I am! I have been a rep for them for almost 22 years and love everything about them. The Tempest 16 is such a great pack for hikes, climbs, you name it! If you are taking it mtn biking, the back panel may be too tall and may hit your helpmet, which is why we have great mtn biking packs called the Raven and the Verve.

Have a great time in Moab and thanks again!
