Why We Like The Talon 26L Backpack
When we head to the trail we never know what may be in store, so we bring the Osprey Talon 26 Backpack. This pack keeps a load centered on our back without restricting our movement so that we can hike or bikepack rocky trails from Maine to New Mexico. Biostretch shoulder straps secure a comfortable, unwavering carry system as we navigate undulating terrain, while the DWR treatment gives us a little peace of mind to know the contents of the pack are safely protected in the event of a passing rain storm.

Bring the Old Talon Back!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- M/L
- Height:
- 5' 7"
- Weight:
- 138
I have an older Talon 22 which I love! Wanted something a little larger (and with larger waist belt pockets). LOVE the size of the 26 and compared to the 22, the waist belt pockets are much more friendly! BUT, the bottom of the pack really digs into my lower back and it's sooo uncomfortable. I returned the Pro 30 for the same reason. I didn't know the re-design (which I guess happened several years ago??) applied to all their Talon packs. So, newer, not always better. Bummed!

Really nice features

Make sure you carefully measure yourself based on the size chart instructions and order the right size backpack. This is my first non-Amazon backpack, and the reason they're so comfortable is that they're fitted. I previously got a womens large of a different model and went with a L/XL here. This pack stands out for the variety of pockets available. There's a stretchy pocket out the back and another stretchy pocket on the shoulder strap (if you want to stow a snack, small bottle, etc. Not sure this would fit a phone). There's a zippered pocket on the inside with a key ring. And finally there's a zippered top pocket, similar to a goggle pocket on a ski touring pack. Finally, I'm really stoked there's two side hip strap pockets.

Great Daypack
- Size Bought:
- S/M
- Height:

Great daypack, very roomy, and has storage for all my gear for a long day hike. It is a bit too bulky for shorter hikes or hikes when you have less gear. I reckon you could even use this for an overnight if you're ultralight or splitting the load with a partner.
