Stratos 24L Backpack
Despite your busy schedule, each week you're up playing on the mountain whether it's hiking, mountain biking, or climbing. The Osprey Stratos 24 Backpack is ready to take on whatever you're doing up there. With this pack, you can fit all the gear you need for a day at the crag, on the trail, or at the park with some room for snacks too.
The designers at Osprey shaped this pack's LightWire alloy frame in such a unique way that it optimizes your load's balance as well as enhances the ventilation system with the help of the AirSpeed back panel. Add that to the sewn-in spacer mesh at both the waist-belt and the shoulder straps, and you're ready to tackle anything in the mountains without a sweat. The waist-belt utilizes ErgoPull straps for an ideal fit, and the panel access allows you to get anything out of your pack with ease regardless of where it is. This pack's blend of high-tenacity nylon and 420HD nylon overlays will handle all your rocky scrapes and dirt dragging for years, and Osprey even integrated a rain cover so you can continue your mountainous adventures in poor conditions.

Amazing Backpack
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Fit:
- True to size
- Weight
- 160 lbs
This is a review after three years of heavy use. (2-3 times a week at least) I have used this extensively for hiking, travel and photography. For hiking, it is the perfect tradeoff of weight, suspension and functionality. I was looking for the best setup for nature photography and travel photography. I searched high and low and tested out a couple of expensive alternatives. However, this is the setup I uses. In the attached pictures I use a padded insert and am able to carry a tripod (Manfrotto BeFree), 15-30 F2.8, 70-200 F2.8, 20mm F1.8. I carry my camera on the front (20-70mm) with a Peak Design clip. I only listed the lenses for those who realize thats a lot of heavy glass. The suspension enables me to travel long distances, securely. I also am able rotate the bag to the front (keeping the hip belt attached) and change lenses, the backpack actually functions as a work surface. See the attached photo with my camera on the mesh part of the backpack Pro: Organization, there are well thought out pockets for sunglasses, random things that need to be accessed easily (top compartment, I keep snacks, power bank, medicines, , rain gear (I always keep my rain gear in the bottom compartment with the included rain cover, always there and always out of the way.

Solid Pack! Poor Fit for for Me
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Let me lead with the bad - the pack's LightWire alloy frame fits between my shoulder blades fairly uncomfortable. I've used the similar system Airspeed system on the Osprey Syncro and love that it helps airflow and makes back sweat less a problem. The pack just fits me awkwardly I guess. That said, I still did about 30 miles of hiking with no noticeable issues beyond slight discomfort. That out of the way, the pack is spacious, adjusts well, and feels light and great!

Weight-bearing comfort
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This pack disperses weight to your hips better than any other daypack I've tested. If you're out on a day hike and need to carry camera equipment or anything else that's relatively heavy, this is by far the best option on the market. Plus, the airspeed back panel keeps sweat at bay on hot hikes or during heavy activity. The hip pockets are perfect for quick snacks, a map, or even your phone (my iPhone X fits).

Great pack, LOVE IT!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I bought this pack for an 8 day mission trip to Costa Rica. We hiked 20+ miles in the back country for 4 days visiting Cabecar indigenous peoples. We hiked up and down hills and through knee deep mud much of the time. This pack was light, comfortable and held a 2.0L hydrapak shape shift bladder in the airspeed suspension system. Carried my trekking poles easily when not in use. Had to use the enclosed/attached rain cover much of the time and it kept everything dry. Love it. So glad I purchased it.

Wow! Sounds like you're really getting the most out of your Stratos! I love this thing too--one of my favorite packs ever made. Thanks for your stellar review!

Good overall pack
I loved many things about this pack, including ospreys suspension system which makes for a comfortable fit. I have a hard time with certain packs because my spine sticks out and the pack becomes uncomfortable but I had no problems with this pack. I give it four stars because of the weight of the pack. It is heavier than others, which comes into play during fast ascents.

Hi Maggie, and thank you for the review! The Stratos is a tradeoff in suspension and weight. If you a lighter package, try the Talon or Tempest (the women's version). Thank you! Leta Osprey Rep

Versatile, tough, and comfortable
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I purchased this pack to replace a Camelbak Rim Runner 22 which I had been using for over a dozen years. I used the Camelbak for dayhikes in the Northeast and also for 8-11 day educational trips to Italy and Greece with my students. I needed a pack that was lightweight with multiple storage areas that also offered easy access to water bottles and other necessities while hiking and/or tour guiding. After a few days walking in 90-100 degree weather in Greece, the Osprey proved its worth, and then some. The main compartment is deceptively large, and easily held tour books, snacks, a light rain jacket, and other items. The outer pocket at the top of the bag kept my sun glasses case handy and out of the way. The exterior pocket was perfect for sunscreen, hand-sanitizer, tissues, and other items I used frequently. The webbed design of the back panel kept the pack off of my back, and proved very comfortable, especially in the high heat. I am very, very happy with this pack, and am looking forward to many years of use.

Awesome day and travel pack
- Familiarity:
- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
I have been using the Osprey Ozone 24L for years and absolutely love it. I gave this as a gift to my friend. He loves the pack. 24L is a perfect size for day hikes and travel. The AirSpeed suspension system is amazing and really supports the load and balances the weight in your hips and back. The mesh material is awesome and it wicks away moisture and sweat. The pack is water resistant for a light rain, but also comes with an integrated rain cover for when the downpour comes in. There is a nice mesh pocket in the top middle section of the pack to store your essentials. There are also good zipper compartments on the hip belt. I would highly recommend this pack

I dig it
Great all around backpack for day hikes. Good pockets, sturdy zippers, fits well. The backpack is designed and engineered with outdoor users in mind. If you haven't made the switch to a hiking backpack for your excursions give this one a go.

This is another great pack from Osprey. It's a very spacious pack for being 24L. The AirSpeed back panel does a fantastic job of keeping your back cool. Also, the warranty offered with these packs is unbeatable!

If only...
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
There's a lot to like about this pack: the manufacturing quality, pocket layout, ventilated back panel, comfortable hip belt, adjustable back panel length, and overall quality of the materials employed. So why three stars? I'm 6'2" (sort of tall) and when I adjusted the frame for my height it caused the junction of the shoulder straps and the back panel to dig into my shoulder blades. Life is just too short to hike around with blunt daggers in your back... If you don't experience this issue I think you'll like this pack. Otherwise you just might be returning it as I did.

Absolutely Amazing Backpack. Buy It
I very seldom take the time to review products but at the same time I rely on review when I purchase. I should review more often. This is absolutely a rock solid pack. Easy acres pockets like many of its kind but this is the best riding pack you will ever own.

Great, comfy pack!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This is my go to whenever I just want to go on a day hike. It's got enough space that I can carry more than I should! I love the placement of the pockets too, so nothing is really conflicting for space. One thing Osprey does that I love is the little mesh pocket at the top of the back. That's perfect for my keys, wallet, chapstick, whatever else I don't want to be carrying in my pockets. The mesh shoulder straps, oh man. The spacing frame on the back! So cool! My only issue is my body size for it. The frame is just wide enough that it digs underneath my shoulder blades. I'm 5'10" with a 36" chest.

Great For Travel
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Tons of storage and organization on this pack! I use it primarily for traveling due to the ability to have easy access to exactly what I need in different pockets. The pack is a perfect size for three to five day trips, for someone that is packing just essentials. I also used this pack for a few day hikes and it really carries the weight well and due to the suspension system my back never got sweaty.

New Favorite
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
This pack is perfect for day hikes or minimalist 1 day backpacking trips. It expands big enough to fit almost everything you could need to fit in a day pack and can be cinched down pretty small for when you're not carrying as much. The Anti Gravity suspension works amazing and provides great air flow. The belt hugs your body very comfortably and keeps the weight where it needs to be. The green color looks even better in person than it does the pictures. Handy integrated rain cover is also very useful. 10/10 would recommend.

best day pack i've ever used
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
This pack is incredible on every level. It is so well structured and really keeps the weight off your back and shoulders. The weight distribution is very comfortable and the mesh backing is genius. 9/18/17 update: I have been using this pack extensively all summer and loved it so much that I bought one for one my good friends for her birthday. She loves it and I can't wait to have matching packs when I visit her in CO in a couple of weeks! The one thing she did mention she wishes would be added is space for a bladder.
