    Perfect for Bike Gear!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a great pack, and my wife wants one for herself.

I use this almost every workday to carry my bike gar for riding after work (I throw in my clothes, shoes, helmet, miscellany, etc).
I've also used this for airline travel and road trips. I love it! My wife even used it, and she now wants her own!

The only issue is, the waterproofing is starting to delaminate, but this is very common at this age (mine is several years old!!!), but it has held up and works great. Oh, and my zipper pulls broke, but Osprey sent me some more (and I improvised my own). Solid travel pack.

Oh, and it fits into an overhead compartment so long as you haven't gone overboard overstuffing it with awkward items!

    Travel Companion

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Perfect sized bag for traveling. I use this as my only travel bag and it has fit as a carry on in every flight I have had (only U.S. flights). Strategically designed compartments help keep all of the goods separate and organized.

    My go-to travel pack

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this pack from a local outfitter when I needed a pack urgently for a trip and found my old go-to pack was missing. Needless to say this has become my new go-to pack. I have used it for everything from day trips to the farm where I keep my stove, water and cold weather gear, to my shooting bag, to weeklong trips to Florida. I used it to travel to my sisters wedding and had 2 days of clothes, shoes and a tuxedo in it with room to spare. I like the multiple handles, pack away straps which are comfortable, padded back, adjustment flaps and easy to access outside pocket for tickets and paperwork. One design feature I really like is the D-opening which allows me to easily pack in bulky or large items. It travels well and fits perfectly in an overhead bin. The one downside? I broke the nylon zipper pull after a few uses. Osprey would fix it based on their warranty but I just haven't taken the time to get it fixed.

Excellent carry on luggage by Osprey.

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is the second of this particular pack I've owned. Not long ago a friend passed through town with a battered and tattered piece of luggage, it was pretty sorry and he was at risk of losing items if he wasn't careful. I kicked down my last Osprey Porter to him, one that had held up really well and did everything I needed from it.
This new one is upgraded, the pockets have more divisions in them, always nice when you want to keep things straight on a trip. I've found it works great for a four day weekend, no trouble fitting everything I need in it. If I were to head to a tropical place, one where little was needed in the way of clothing I am confident this pack would work for any amount of time.
The backpack straps are very comfortable and super easy to stow when you need to. Bottom line is this is a great piece of luggage.

    Neato gang!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This pack is great! Its made from really durable material and keeps it form really really well which is nice when it comes to packing. I chose this pack because its about the biggest pack you can get as a carry on for flying. It has tons of great compartments and is extremely helpful. Recommend to all.

    Great, durable pack

I have the larger porter 65, bought this one to just do carry-on to avoid extra fees while traveling through Europe. It has been great. I fit a ton of stuff. Too much actually. Allowed me to overpack. Durable, and light weight. Also very comfortable.

Can't say anything bad about this pack!

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is the quintessential perfect travel pack. It's like Osprey thought of every possible thing you could need, and made an amazing feature to address it. Such awesome organizational pockets, super burly fabric, while still looking sleek and stylish. Slapped a goat sticker right on it and it went right on a plane to Europe for a week long adventure.

      Perfection in a travel pack!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

As summer travels start to come near the search for a new pack began. After searching packs I decided to give the Porter a shot. I couldn't be more happier with it! Its carry on size so perfect for urban adventures or getting out and exploring the woods. I've done a few trial runs to see what i can squeeze in this pack and no complains. Room for your tent, sleeping bag, plus other essentials.

everything about this pack is awesome

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This bag is awesome. I took it on a road trip where I would be camping. Knowing I would be storing this in a car all day I figured it would be perfect, and it was. I fit a sleeping bag, tent, blanket and all my clothes plus a few other things inside. It's definitely just a travel pack, not a back country camping pack. It holds a good amount of stuff. It's a great back pack for people who don't want to check something while flying. the straps are easy to hide as well if you don't want to look like a back packer. The handles are great. I wore almost an entire day trying to catch flights, and it carried extremely well. If you are considering this back pack, buy it.

      Had to buy another

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I haven't even gone on my trips yet and I like this bag already. I'm 5'2" and it doesn't seem too big. I do like how it compresses for easy storage when not in use. My husband liked it so much that I had to order one for him.

Perfect for a week long urban adventure.

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Excellent quality. Didn't spot a single bad stitch. Very roomy, plenty of compartments. The carry handles were surprisingly useful when bringing it through the Beijing subways.

However, at 6'3" I think I am a little too tall for it. Even with the adjustable shoulders, the waistband was a little too high.

      Wow. Fantastic!

      • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is one fantastic backpack. It's apparent that Osprey went out of their way to design a high quality backpack. The nylon is clearly heavy duty and will last a long time, the snaps are in good locations and great quality, and the several zippered compartments are well thought out and in useful locations. There are even shoulder level load lifters, all on a modestly priced backpack. The hip belt is light, but easily transfers the load to your hips and together with the load lifters this is one awesome travel pack. Probably not full featured or padded enough to be a main pack for serious backpackers, but it's clearly a high quality pack for travelers who want to carry only one bag and who want the ability to carry it on their back and to stow it as carry on baggage. I have yet to use it for a trip but am really looking forward to it. This is a really, really nice travel bag.

Hey there - Leta here with Osprey - yes, so true about this pack. The perfect size for a structured, but soft, carryon duffle WITH a nice shoulder harness. So easy to wear, and so easy to stow. Thank you for the great review!

      Unanswered Question

I have a 32oz Camelbak Better Bottle (similar to a Nalgene), that's 11" long with a diameter of about 3.5". Can anyone tell me if this will fit sideways (or any way, really) in the top zippered pocket, or will I be forced to put it in either the main compartment, or the front zippered organizer pocket? Thank you kindly for your time!

Any idea when you will be getting this in black?
