Great pack for lightweight hiking...with one caveat.
I love the heritage items. I have my original Osprey backpack from 1996 that matches. I bought this for its large capacity and the fact that I don't like items on my back when I hike during the summer in the deep south. It's just too hot. I really wish this pack had a hole for your reservoir tube. It's big enough to carry water but you have to leave it slightly unzipped if you want to carry a tube. Makes me think this was solely built for urban hikes. I think that trail hikers would benefit with just a little bit more thought. I personally don't use water bottles on a hike, so that is my one issue. Otherwise, held everything I needed, even some items for security when I hike alone. Rugged, sustainable, I love the old look!

Matches my first ever Osprey from '97 (which I still have!)
I bought this for the capacity. And it may not have been designed for water but I refuse to bring any bottles with me. I have my 3L platy and was bummed to not be able to string a hose out of it without closing the zipper. I think every waist bag, no matter how intended, should have a hole for your reservoir hose.

Eco-friendly and practical
I recently got the Osprey Heritage Waist Pack and it's been a game-changer for my hikes. The pack's classic design is stylish and practical, and I love that it's made of eco-friendly materials. The roomy main compartment and pockets fit all my essentials, and it's comfy to wear. The cons are that the waist strap could be sturdier and it's not fully waterproof. But overall, it's a solid and sustainable choice for outdoor enthusiasts.

waist strap expands easily without way to cinch
the waist strap, a key part of this bag functioning, does not conch in place! the buckle doesn't have a way for the strap to double back on itself so it easily slips. it seems like there is a part missing because this surely can't be the design. pack was meant to be used for downhill ski patrol and would be ideal if it could be secured around waist confidently.

Unique; AWESOME for what it is
There's nothing else out there like this pack, so if you want this pack, you want THIS PACK. Is multiple-use, large capacity, weatherproof pack I can reach into with ease. Is super-simple, SLIM when lightly loaded (YES!), but can ALSO hold a lot of stuff and reasonable amout of weight without sagging. Have had this pack about a month; love it. Wear it on my hip, not in back. WHERE USED: Just do day hikes and ""car camping"" (your car is near your tent), plus walk or bike a lot around town. Esp. love: Since pack has only only 2 pockets, all but waist side of pack is FLEXIBLE - meaning, while walking and talking to someone else, you can put your hand in a pocket (esp. the big pocket) and COMFORTABLY ROOT AROUND, find what you want without breaking stride. Also you pretty much KNOW WHERE EVERYTHING IS: either it's in Pocket #1 or Pocket #2. Cons: There are better packs for carrying a water bottle. But I don't always carry a water bottle and don't want the bulk/messy look of empty dedicated water-bottle pockets. Comparison: Very much prefer this to popular, highly-rated, similar-capacity large waist packs with ""everything"" (drink holders plus multiple pockets in every possible place), that convert to shoulder bag, handbag, backpack. All their extras - all that cloth and padding - makes the pack way bulkier, and also make parts of it super stiff.

The Dad Pack
Absolutely love this lumbar pack! We are constantly surprised by all that we can fit in this little bag and how easy it is to carry, get access to, and pack along with us. We use it as a go to bag for us and our two girls for trips to the park or short hikes or outings. It was also my bag for Disneyland. My family has gotten to calling it ""The Dad Pack."" Love it!

Okay pack
This is an okay pack. The waist straps do not adjust wide enough to wear it as a sling like most other waist packs I use. Also the font cinch strap is restricted to how far it can open preventing putting larger items like a Jacket cinched in. Materials are decent but not the best.
