I bought This backpack because I wanted to try backpacking for the first time. I had no idea what to expect but based on all the reviews and the videos out there I decided to give it a try. I used this pack in the uintas doing a backpacking trip just for two days. Between me and my boyfriend we had plenty of space for everything we could ever need. This backpack was also very comfortable. The only flaw for me was there were a couple spots where the backpack rubbed my my skin a bit and it was uncomfortable. But I assume if I was wearing the correct shirt and used the pack more that would not happen. Overall LOVE THIS PACK. This is going to be my go-to for a long time

Osprey wins again. I love their suspension system and am always happy with their organization and durability. This was no exception. It's super easy to adjust to your size, as well. I would recommend this size for mountaineering. For backpacking though, this size will for for most people, IF you are always going to be backpacking with a friend, sharing the gear. I personally couldn't get everything I needs for myself into this pack, in cold climates. If you are always going to be in a warmer climate, you should be able to fit everything you need in this size. But, for high alpine where you need a bigger sleeping bag and more layers and jacket, it would be a tight fit for most people. I could not fit my 0 degree in the sleeping bag compartment, so something to keep in mind if you always take a big sleeping bag. I measured my torso and at 17in, the S/Mwas great.

The Leader of the Pack

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I have always been a avid fan of Osprey. When I was 11 I got my first Osprey day pack and still have it to this day, with no holes or damage. This is a testament to the quality and durability of these packs (trust me, I have not been easy on that thing!) So when I got a chance to use the new Kyte pack, I was excited to see what it could do for me. The first thing I noticed was the versatility of this pack. With 46 liters, it is an excellent size for backpacking through Europe, weekend backpacking trips, car camping, glamping, and even thru-hikes when packing needs to be done lightly. In my time using this pack, I took it on an overnight climbing trip where we car camped, a weekend long trip in Moab, and through the snowy Wasatch mountains to a cabin for an overnight get away. Each time I took this pack I was astounded by the level of versatility and comfort it had. I sized this in a S/M as my waist is 26 inches and it fit perfectly. The adjustment system is easy to use, and fits nicely on top of my hips so that my back doesn't take all the weight. The mesh on the shoulders and waist make it very comfortable, so even with the jostling of hiking it didn't feel like my hips were getting bruised like some packs make me feel. The next thing I noticed was the amount of storage. For a smaller pack, I was able to fit all my sleeping needs, tent included, plus a rumple bag, some climbing gear, food, mess kit, clothes and water bottles. There is also room to attach gear to the outside of the pack, just add a few carabiners to the mix. Osprey offers a lifetime warranty which shows the faith they put in their gear. I too put the same faith in their product and recommend this pack to all the ladies out there needing a reliable multi-use backpack since this truly is the "leader of the pack".

Chloe, Thank you for such a thorough review on the Kyte 46! An excellent pack! Happy Trails, Leta Osprey Rep
