Kresta 30L Backpack
As most women know, backpacks are often the unfortunate victim of the pink-and-shrink laser beam. However, designers over at Osprey heard the call for a functional, women-specific touring backpack, and answered with the Kresta 30 Backpack. And in typical Osprey fashion, the Kresta has just the right amount of features necessary for a day of touring in the alpine without skimping on the overall fit or functionality.
More specifically, this pack is fashioned with a women-specific Light Wire suspension system that when combined with the padded help belt and stabilization straps, provide a comfortable and pressure-free haul. The thermoformed, contoured back panel sheds snow easily, and ultimately reduces the build-up of frozen precipitation on your backside. Not to mention, a deployable helmet net makes carrying your helmet a breeze, and the tuck-away ice tool loop ensures you're able to haul technical tools without worrying about losing them en route.
In keeping with its versatile construction, the Kresta boasts a horizontal snowboarding carrying feature, or if you're of the dual-planked nature, it also touts an A-frame or diagonal ski carrying design. Though, perhaps most importantly, the Kresta has a J-shaped avalanche gear compartment, complete with dry pocket, so you're not only able to access your safety gear in a flash, but you're also able to separate your sensitive avy gear from wet skins or damp clothing. A back panel entry system enables you quick access to snacks or extra layers, and all of the Kresta's zipper pulls, as well as buckles, are glove and mitten friendly.

Does it all
- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
Got this pack for splitboarding tours and love it. The two main compartments let me separate wet avalanche tools from dry clothing. The helmet pocket works well, it could be a little bigger but it does stretch to fit mine. Pack is very comfortable, never have any complaints about it pressing on any points. The insulated sleeve does keep my hose from freezing! However I have a platypus and the mouthpiece makes a L shape with the hose. This makes it hard to zip the sleeve closed where the mouthpiece is. When i do get it to squeeze in and zip closed it's great. If it's not fitting great and the zipper is slightly open everything freezes up. Still just a minor comment, love the pack anyways!

A Backcountry Skiier's Dream Pack
- I've used it several times
Most backpacks, in general, do not satisfy my (intense) need for organization. This pack is a dream for any backcountry skiier that is a neat freak (like myself). It is obvious that Osprey put a lot of thought into the design. The compartments are perfectly sized, not to mention, very accessible. The front zips off (almost entirely), to reveal two vertical sleeves (one for my probe and the other for my snow saw), a mesh pocket (for my other snow tools), and plenty of room for a shovel. The top of the pack features a large , fleece-lined pocket that can easily fit my googles and a snack. The back compartment is very roomy (perfect for a couple layers, water, skins, first aid kit, etc.). The hip strap pockets are excellent for more snacks and a cell phone (it is a tight fit, but I can squeeze my iPhone 7 into one). The pack is extremely comfortable (to ski and skin with), low profile, and fairly light. I have yet to use it with a bladder and am interested to see how well the sleeve (on the strap) keeps my hose from freezing. My only complaint is one I've seen from other reviewers, the helmet pocket is difficult to use in a pinch. I can get my helmet to fit (with some effort), but it's annoying if I am making multiple transitions.

Best ski pack out there for women
- I've put it through the wringer
I use this pack for day trip touring. I regularly tour with an ice ax, crampons, helmet and ski crampons. I don't always bring ropes and harness, but when I do- this pack can fit that as well with pack planning. I absolutely love the fit of this pack, and probably have 40 days on it. I bought this pack after my Ortovox one was stolen and I needed a replacement quickly. The fit is the most comfortable of any pack I have ever work, and I have worn: North face, marmot, Ortovox, and black diamond. I can do 10-12 hour tours with this pack without having a back ache at the end. The fit is just absolutely perfect. I actually find the pack perfect for function too- the straps on the top of the shoulder straps bothered me at first for the back side access, but once I figured out that they helped with the comfort of touring I didn't mind them at all anymore! and the straps are amazing- so quick and easy to transition and strap on ropes, use beaners, etc. great thought out pack. I like it so much I am going to buy the 40 for hut trips!

Great Osprey Touring Pack
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I really like all the features on this pack, all the pockets are really easy to access and there are spots for all your touring gear. The cushioning on the straps and back make this comfortable even on a longer tour with a heavier pack. My only dislike about this backpack is that the helmet pocket is hard to use and i can barely fit my Anon helmet in it.

Hi Susan, Thank you for the review. When you talk about the helmet pocket, you mean the hammock? I havent had an issue, but I will give this feedback to Osprey, and perhaps that can increase that size just a bit. Thank you for writing, Leta Osprey Rep

Great Touring Pack!
- I've used it several times
I love this pack. I'm a 5'6 average build female and the s/m fit great. I love the full zipper in the back, it makes it easy to get to all of my stuff. The waistband pockets are the perfect size for some liner gloves or a quick snack. I'm excited to get some more use out of it this winter/spring!

A Great Touring Pack for Ladies!
- I've used it several times
I recently purchased this pack for touring after being so happy with my Osprey backpacking pack that I purchased last summer. The women's-specific fit is great, and I am still finding more neat features each time I use it. The front compartment has room for my probe and shovel, the waist-strap pockets are huge (love that my glove-liner fit in there when my hands get warm), and the back compartment fits skins, a shell, and my Camelbak bladder with ease! I am very excited to get more use out of this pack!

the best touring backpack!
If you're looking for a touring backpack, look no further! This is a solid staple that will last a lifetime. Osprey backpacks are excellent quality and built so well. This is no exception. This is the perfect touring backpack for women, I have ran into no problems with them rubbing me the wrong way or carrying wrong. Can't say enough about it!
