Nice backcountry pack
Bought this for my pre-work dawn patrol runs at PC Mountain. Nice and comfortable and carries everything I need. My husband says he's gonna steal it from me so I think I'll be buying another one real soon.

Ski season and beyond
What I like! -enough room for camera, snowshoes (to attach), extra layer, phone, wallet, water (hydrate or diedrate) -comfortable and not too large -can also carry snowshoes -always a fan of hip straps for snacks or anything else -an insulated hydration sleeve!!! So many packs say "hydration compatible" but once it gets cold the water can freeze in the tube. That's happened to me when snowshoeing but no longer. This can fit a 3L reservoir by the way -nylon construction makes it a great choice in the snow What I don't -The 22 is a bit awkward to carry skis with, I'd upgrade to the 32L. A customer on another site left this helpful desciption for how to carry skis though: "if you take that top strap out and direct the buckle-side of the strap through the narrow loop/tunnel (don't know what else to call it) that sits between where the strap starts and the other buckle, it creates a loop for your skis at the top right of the pack. Doing with this will give you diagonal carry."

Hey Ben - The 22L is great for quick carries, utilizing the top strap tucked away by the left shoulder to secure the top of the diagonal carry. The 32L is better for longer days. Thanks for the review! Leta Osprey Rep

Great Winter Pack
Bought this pack over a couple years ago, and it is still in great shape. I've used it primarily for resort skiing and snowshoeing as it is great to pack in a few extra layers or snacks. The customer service at Osprey is the best. While crossing a snow field on Mt. Timpanogos in early spring, a clip on the back of the bag broke. I submitted a claim to Osprey and within a week I had a replacement part no questions asked. The pack is very solid and has plenty of attachments on the exterior for any small tie-ons you may have, and they are easily hidden away when not in use. The narrow profile has made it great for lifts, as I haven't had to remove it every run. Simply a great pack for anything winter or small everyday things. Wouldn't recommend the pack for anything in high heat, as the pack is not intended for ventilation.

Awkward ski attachment
Very awkward ski attachment system. Not user friendly. I decided to return it in favor of something more straightforward. I had difficulty even finding any instructions (including on the Osprey website) about attaching skis to this pack.
January 14, 2019
Hi there - This attachment system is clean and tucked away, perfect for short bootpacks. Diagonal carry only for skis because the pack itself is too narrow for A-frame, because it's also designed to be worn in bounds and on a chairlift. I will look into an instructional video about the attachment and get it posted. Sorry it wasn't more apparent! Leta Osprey Rep

Good basic low-volume pack
This pack gets the job done for short tours where you don't need to haul a ton of gear. light and durable, great for quick laps with some water, layers, and the standard safety gear

This pack is awesome for any sidecountry or small tours. the compartments are laid out great and its not a super heavy pack. If you're looking for a 22L bag for touring look no further.

Perfect Solution for Sidecountry Skiing
This pack is super well thought out and packed with useful features. I especially love to use this pack when I'm doing stuff in the sidecountry. The front pocket lets me store my wet avalanche gear separately without getting my extra layers soaked. The helmet carry is quick and easy to deploy. Attaching my skis for steep boot packs was lightning quick after I adjusted everything the first time. The hip pockets were super helpful to store the essentials for quick access. If you're looking for a dedicated backcountry pack I would maybe go with the 32L version as it gives the option for A-Frame Carry (which this pack does not) But for a sidecountry or resort ski bag, look no further. The Kamber Is Awesome!

love this thing
I bought this pack to use while snowboarding and ended up using it for everything. I now hike, bike, snowboard, and travel with this thing. Its super comfy and has a ton of storage for how little it is. The insulated hose sleeve is very nice to keep from freeze in the winter and keep dust off the mouthpeice in the summer.

I love this pack.
I bought this pack mid-season 2016/17. There was so much powder. This bag is light, has all the places, pockets, and stashes for all day back country or just heading into the trees on a powder hunt. I have a bladder, I pack a hot choclate, puffy down, extra beanie, shovel, poles, and don’t really feel the weight. I would highly recommend it.

Awesome pack for backcountry day trips
Love. This. Pack! Osprey is still doing it right. I picked up one of these for day long ski tours and it has been perfect. I feel like Osprey paid attention to every detail on this pack. I've used it as a resort pack a few times as well and it worked great, though I felt it was a little overkill size-wise and I could use something smaller. I just took this with me on a ski mountaineering trip up Mount Hood and it performed really well. Carried the weight of my skis and everything else I had in the pack (extra layers, crampons, goggles, gloves, avy gear, snacks, water, camera, etc.) really well. It also has an insulated zippered sleeve for your hydration tube so it doesn't freeze while your skinning and skiing. You can see the integrated hydration tube sleeve in the picture that I've included. Let me know if you have any questions : )

I'm looking at this backback or the Deuter 30 for my 24 year old son.. Do you feel the Osprey Kamber 22L is sufficient in size? I know he would occassionally pop it on his back snowmobiling too.

Great Pack and comfortable
Have only used one time but didn't even know I had a pack on while skiing and I have never used a backpack while skiing. Super comfortable, waist strap really works well. Fits shovel, probe etc with ease. I didn't have to take it off on the lift which was one of the reasons for choosing this size pack. You certainly sit farther forward on the lift with the pack on but it wasn't much of an issue at all. Everything seems sturdy and well made as others have said about this pack. Excited to use this more as the season goes on.

Love This Pack for Splitboarding!
I used this pack all season for splitboarding and have no complaints. It is built to last with strong components everywhere. The snowboard carry and A-frame carry are easily adjustable and work great. The hydration sleeve is next to your back to keep that weight in close. The oversize zipper to the main compartment is super durable and easy to use. The goggle pocket has a super soft material to keep your lenses scratch-free. This pack is more comfortable than most of the competitors with well-padded straps and waist belt. Overall the Kamber is very user-friendly, well designed, and built with tough and quality materials. The pack also has a lifetime warranty.

Jeff, are you sure you are talking about the 22liter version? because it seems has no A-carry option, no straps laterally. Reviews on REI are pretty negative for this reason
May 8, 2017
I used to have the old version of this, the Kode, which I loved but always felt was a little narrow to get stuff into. The new version is way more accessible. Same great quality as always!

Great BC pack!
I have found another great Osprey pack. As with the other ones I own, this seems to fit me perfectly and I don't even notice wearing it. Great for day backcountry trips or stepping out of bounds. It holds all I need with room to spare if I need to add a little extra.

Perfect for quick missions
This is my go-to pack for pre-work dawn patrols or anything else that only really involves one or two laps. It's a perfect size for my avy tools, puffy, an extra layer, water, a couple other items and a helmet in the helmet carry. With all that there's just enough room to stuff your skins in for the descent. Anything more than that and I'd really be pushing it. If we're talking a full day tour though, this bag probably doesn't have enough room for what I'd be looking to bring (more water, food, extra layers, etc.). Favorite features: awesome helmet carry with multiple position options, generous hip belt pockets, and its general low profile design. I thought that I would miss having a back panel access, but for a bag this small its not really necessary.

Mark - excellent assessment of this pack - Great for a few laps, but the Kamber 32 is there for when you need more room. The Kamber 22 also has a low enough profile to be used on a chairlift. Enjoy! Leta Osprey Rep

Great short BC, Side country, sled bag.
I have used this pack a few times and while I can't speak for the durability, I can say that I have no complaints on this pack. The padded goggle compartment, pull out helmet carry, and hip compartments are some of my favorite features. Great for storing a strap or snack bar. I have been able to store a bladder, skins, extra layers, extra food, and dslr camera, along with avalanche gear comfortably in this pack and I am sure I could fit a few more things as well. If you are looking for the best bag before going with an airbag pack, this is a great choice.

Great for in bounds skiing or short BC
I love this backpack, the zippers and overall fabric quality INSTANTLY stand out over any other pack you will have used. The amount of features and adjust-ability is insane, every time you use it you find something new about the pack. It has both ski and snowboard carry options as well as pockets for keeping your helmet, goggles, and avy gear in the pack plus it has drainage ports on the bottom for if you do throw slightly wet gear in it. Too much good about this backpack not to get it.
January 20, 2017
Hey David - Totally agree - perfect for in bounds or a trek for a few laps in the Backcountry! The narrow profile makes this easy on the lift, but still has great organization. Thank you for the great review! Leta Osprey Rep

Perfect size pack
This is a great bag for everyday use at the resort or for shorter AT hikes. Its the perfect size to pack an extra layer, water, and a few snacks with enough room to stuff away your skins at the end of your hike! It sits nice and close to your body so you don't actually feel like you are lugging around something behind you. Perfectly happy with Osprey products as always.

A great choice! an amazing bag!
I am 63 and 185lbs and I really like the Osprey Kamber 22. It is unequally geared towards BC skiing and winter adventures. It is an excellent winter day bag. All pockets and straps are designed for winter fun equipment, keeps water out very well and the bag feels like it is part of you when you ride! It is super durable and user friendly. The zipper loops make it super easy to open and close with gloves on. It has plenty of space and straps to attach skis helmets and boots. Also it has pockets on both hip straps! You can fit compass, inclinometer cell phone, glasses and snacks all in the easy access pockets! As a bigger guy i would rather have the 32L

I don't see any straps on the top of pack to carry a snow board vertically. Are they hidden in pack?
February 3, 2019
Hey Frank, there is a tuck away pocket on the left shoulder that holds a strap. It will extend and connect to the other shoulder to allow for a vertical carry. Thank you for the question! Leta Osprey Rep
