Hydraulics Hydration Reservoir

Custom-fit suspension systems are Osprey's bread and butter, so it makes sense that the Hydraulics Hydration Reservoir is shaped with a rigid backer plate to prevent any interference with how your pack fits and carries. Additionally, the durable TPU reservoir material keeps water tasting exactly the way it should, and the bite valve keeps the hose secure when you're cruising up the trail.

  • A hydration bladder especially designed for your trekking pack
  • BPA- and phthalate-free materials deliver a fresh, clean taste
  • HydroStatic backer plate ensures that the bag keeps its shape
  • Bite valve is easy to drink from and won't likely leak
  • Hose shut-off valve seals your bladder during travel

Best one I’ve ever used

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Fit:
True to size

The magnets are super convenient, The bite valve is really comfortable, The handle is great, and it’s super durable! The zipper top one time got stuck and it literally took three guys to get it off! But there is no damage it was just a little dirty.

Osprey + Sawyer Micro = Ultra-lightweigh

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this pack specifically for ultra-lightweight hiking in the PNW. The are numerous water sources and the smaller size (2L) combined with a Sawyer Micro in-line filter allows me to quickly collect untreated water from streams in the reservoir and filter the water as I drink it.

Easy to drink and fill

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This is the best reservoir I have used. The top opening makes it easy to fill. The stiff back helps to slide it into your pack without unpacking everything. The bite valve can rotate shut so no accidental leaks when in transport and its easy to drink out of. That is probably my favorite part. Too many bite valves make drinking seem like a chore. With this one you get plenty of water easy, its a nice bonus while on trail.

Leaks

After cleaning the reservoir for initial use, I filled it up and let it sit on a paper towel. When I came back, the paper towel was drenched. I repeated the test after thoroughly drying the outside of the reservoir to make sure I wasn't crazy.

thirst quencher

I purchased this to replace my old 2.5L reservoir for my Manta 24 and it works great!

Hey Justin - Many thanks - I checked in with Osprey about any QC issues (referring to the review below) and they have found none, so I am glad it works for you. Enjoy! Leta Osprey Rep

Leaks at the welds

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I have 2 leaking 3 liter bladders. They leak at the welds. One was replaced under warranty. Last 2 rides the replacement has started to leak. Pinhole size.

Oh no!! This is definitely something I will get to Osprey right away. Clearly a defect issue, and thank you for bringing it to my attention. This is NOT the norm, but thank you for letting us know so we can address it with QC checks. Leta Osprey Rep

Same thing happening here. Back to Camelbak

Great!

No plastic taste, the magnet at the end of the straw is genius!

So many great features

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I love this reservoir. It goes with me skiing and I do need to add the insulation sleeve but as for the features it's actually packed. I love how the hose detaches at multiple locations to make reeling and cleaning easier. Also the sturdy backing makes it less floppy in the pack.

Ideal

Perfect water vestibule. Structurally sound, 3L, detachable straw. This thing is sweet.

universal

My brother said he wanted a bladder for Christmas. He didn't specify a brand so I bought this one because of the hard back feature. I figured that feature would make the bladder more universal across a range of different packs, since it will stay more rigid.

Never stop for a drink again

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I love this thing. I used it while hiking the Camino De Santiago last spring and it made my experience infinitely better. I always hated stopping to pull out my water bottle while backpacking, and this has made that a thing of the past. It holds plenty of water so most days I only had to fill it once before I started walking. It's easy to fill up, doesn't leak and integrated perfectly with my Exos 38L.

Really dig this bladders, going to be sticking with these for the future. Can't go wrong with Osprey. Works great, haven't had any issues, and the warranty is nice addition as well.

Hydrated Bliss

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

While working in the desert for a summer, this thing became my best friend. Its easy to refill, slip into a backpack, and keep in your pack for hours. I did receive a defective one with a slight tear in the bladder, but Osprey/ Hydrapak was super easy to work with and replaced it promptly. Overall, this purchase has proved to be completely worth it for how many times it's basically saved my life on long days on the trail.

Happy to report that I put some water in this thing and it held the water.

Great bladder for Osprey packs. Does exactly what it is supposed to do.

Two types.

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

There are two types of people in the world: 1) People who have accidentally left the water reservoir in their pack for a few weeks (or months) to get really funky-smelling (and moldy, if you're extra lucky), and... 2) Liars. This is a wonderful product for both groups. Additionally, the magnetic bite valve and closure mechanism are quite nice. Buy it.

Perfect!!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

5 sentences I’ve been really happy with this reservoir so far. I haven’t experienced any leaking from the bite valve, which happened frequently with my old bladder. It fills easily and the hard back makes getting it in and out of your backpack a breeze. I also really appreciate the magnetic attachment to keep the hose where you want it. Overall, a great purchase!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Missing a key part

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I generally like Osprey's stuff and this appears to be a good reservoir. The closure mechanism is well thought-out, and the magnetic hose holder is more useful that I expected. I debated if the stiff-back design was worth the extra weight and am glad that I went with this design. All good EXCEPT for th3 fact that it does not come with a cover for the bite valve, which would only add a few grams of weight and cost about 5-cents to manufacture. This seems dumb. Other than that, it is a great product.

Never can go wrong with osprey

Solid, good reservoir. Can’t go wrong with anything osprey!

Will the 3L work with the Stratos/Sirrus 24L pack?

>Rating:

Will this work with osprey stratos 34L?

Hey Bradley! Sorry for the delayed response. This will fit in the Osprey Stratos series! Those will hold most hydration systems that are on the market now!

>Rating:

Are you supposed to be able to refill this through the detachable hose, or is that simply to keep your hose in your backpack while you take the reservoir out to refill?

Abigail, I am sorry for my delayed response! You can leave the hose in your pack and remove the reservoir to fill it - Easy!! Hope that helps, Leta Osprey Rep
