Hikelite 26L Backpack

You might feel like those speed hiking fast-and-light days are behind you with the advent of having to use trekking poles in order to give your knees a break, but you can still strap them to Osprey's Hikelite 26 Backpack and relive your golden days on the trail's mellower sections. The backpack's AirSpeed suspension cushions, ventilates, and wicks moisture away when you work up a sweat, and it dries quickly when you're back to the grueling steepness.
  • Technical hiking backpack readies you for a full day on the trails
  • AirSpeed back panel provides cushioning and ventilation
  • Rain cover and hydration compatibility keep water where it should be
  • Top pocket is scratch-resistant for electronics or sunglasses
  • Item #OSP00AZ

This Pack Packs A Wallop

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit:
True to size

I am sublimating my COVID cabin fever by loading up on gear. This pack caught my eye locally, but they did not have the gray/yellow combo I wanted; giving me the opportunity to patronize Backcountry as I would always prefer to do, Here's what I like about this pack: First, the Airspeed suspension is the best in class for keeping your back cool. Second, I like the rigid frame of this pack, so it doesn't collapse on itself if not completely full. Third, the "size" fits on my back perfectly = not too big and not too small. Fourth, as another poster below noted, this pack holds a lot for its 26L stated size. Fifth, while some people might wish the front "shove it" pocket was mesh, I am not a mesh fan, so I like this version just the way it is. Finally, the top pocket for sunnys etc is a nice feature too. People can grouse they wished it had pocket(s) on the waist belt, or a more robust bungee on the water bottle side pockets; but Hey! at $100 this is a feature-laden bargain! One final note: The pictures really don't do justice to all the nice colors of this pack. The blue is rich blue, the orange is bright safety orange and the black is a rich black with gray trim = all very nice. I just happen to like yellow, so the yellow trim on the gray model appeals to me. The interior on mine is also bright yellow, so I can see down to the bottom of the main compartment. I am delighted and think you would be too.

Great Pack!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

This backpack is the perfect day pack. The frame is supportive but not obstructive. The straps are comfortable and do not rub, even on bare skin. Easy to adjust to the user, and extremely comfortable. I got the turquoise color, and it looks even better in person! The material is durable and stays relatively clean for what I put it through. I would recommend this to someone looking for a good hiking pack or just a durable day to day pack.

Thank you so much, Isabelle! Happy Trails! Leta Osprey Rep

Hikelite for the win!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I've used this pack for over a year and absolutely love it! For it being only a 26L I can fit so much gear in it. The vented back panel really helps with keeping me cooler than my other traditional day-packs do. I shopped around a lot before purchasing a new day hiking pack and really this one was full-featured and includes a rain cover as well as being equipped for a hydration system. It also has built in safety whistle on the bottom strap. I abuse this pack and get it pretty dirty and it wipes down to look clean each time. I don't think the photos on the site do it justice.

HikeLite 26 Takes on Sedona

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I took this pack on a recent trip to Sedona where I guided women on three separate hikes. It was the perfect pack; I could fit snacks, extra water, a first aide kit, cell phone, extra jackets and sunscreen into this small but mighty day pack. It fit me like a glove and with it's amazing ventilation system, I never got sweaty. Each hike was a different journey and this pack held out for rock scrambling, river crossings and canyon hiking. Great overall pack

Thanks so much for the review, Trisha! Next time, take me with you! Leta Osprey Rep

Does the Hikelite 26L accomodate standard size nalgene bottles in the side mesh pockets? Thank you.

Hey Craig!, Yep! you shouldn't have any problem getting a standard Nalgene in there. I've done it myself.
