Works great!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I bought this to kee my water cool for desert hiking. It works as well as I could hope for. The water in the hose still gets a little bit warm, but it does not get as hot as it would otherwise. I’m very pleased with this item.

Sold defective item

Buyer beware! I received my Osprey insulated bladder in defective condition and was denied a return by Backcountry. Will never do business with again

Do not buy

There is no way to insulate the hose on your bladder with it or to connect this one to it instead of yours. Something is definetly missing.

NOT WORTH 2 BITS

Have been using an old neoprene sleeve for my 3ltr bladder, but it was frayed so was on the look out for something new and better. found my reservoir insulation kit while on the road in Buena Vista, Co. bought it on the spot. filled it up with water and ice. within 3 hours it was all water and after 4 hours it was room temperature water. was so disappointed, and this wasn't back home weather, this was 70's temp weather. expected so much more from a company as well respected as Osprey. looking for a new heavy neoprene sleeve, has to be better than this product.

Actually keeps my water cool

This kit actually keeps my water cool. I threw out the valve cover because it's as bad an idea as the hard cover for it (so far, CamelBak's bite valves and covers have been the only ones I've found that totally seal up from the dirt), and am glad it didn't come with a hardcover or another magnet because the designs on them just don't work for me. But this is amazing. Actually insulates, even the hose, I haven't yet had that initial hot shot of water yet. It has velcro in the bottom tip so you can close the bottom off and slide their 2.5l into it without it being excessively wobbly inside the sleeve; my Mira came with a 2.5l but I bought a 3l just to max it out. Nothing bad to say at all, very happy with it.

Doesn't come with valve/connector; install impossible

Doesn't come with a bite valve or connector. You have to buy BOTH of those separate unless you want to go thru the hassle of swapping those out every time you switch seasons. Which I would not recommend. Why, you ask? Because I have tried everything and I cannot get this stupid connector into the hose to begin with. I have tried freezing the connector and heating the hose, I've tried different surfaces for leverage. It's bogus. Don't buy this. Of all the hydra products that are so easy and just work, this… doesn't even come close. I'm surprised.

Works for Me

I've used this insulation kit w/my reservoir during 4 hour hikes in the teens, never had to blow back water out of hose to keep from freezing. The water in the reservoir stayed at the temp from the start. I found a way to use my magnets that has been working for me for a few weeks now, I hike an average of 28 miles per week (M-F).

Hose is difficult to attach

I haven't had a chance to use it on the trail yet but just the installation of the hose has me wishing I didn't buy it. There is no quick connect at the end of the hose so I had to wrestle the quick connect from the end of my existing hose(ended up cutting the tubing to get to it) and am having a hard time forcing the plastic piece into the new hose. Not looking forward to reconnecting to my old hose once the winter is over and I don't need the insulation. I'd recommend having a plastic piece at the end of this hose or making it so the sleeve opens up and can be switched from hose to hose.

Doesnt work for me

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Not compatible with camelbak and I?m not buying an extra bladder just for this. Wish I had talked to a gearhead first.

NOT a 4 season product......failed twice

I used this twice and it has failed me twice. I had to end up cutting the bite valve off just so I could get water do to freezing. Not good when 6 miles in at 11500' Can say will not depend on the insulation hoses ever again.
