Eja 48L Backpack
You're pretty competitive, so everything from weekend summits in your home state to thru-hikes on the other side of the world are all about speed. With a balanced volume that keeps your packing habits under control, the Osprey Eja 48 Backpack gives you the perfect, race-winning combination of speed and comfort. The floating lid, sleeping pad straps, and compression straps can all be removed to save on ounces, and the frame is designed to make long days and long trips not be a literal pain in the back. The AirSpeed back panel and light-yet-durable alloy frame blesses you with breathability by dumping excess heat out of the sides, and ExoForm covers the shoulder pads and waist belt with mesh and gel for extended comfort.
Even with minimalist hiking habits in mind, the Exos offers plenty of nooks and crannies for snacks, maps, and trekking poles, and some quality features. A hydration reservoir sleeve offers a place to stash your three-liter bladder, so you don't waste precious seconds stopping to pull out a water bottle, and the FlapJacket raincover keeps your precious gear dry when the weather turns sour, so you're not forced to find shelter mid-race.

Favorite Lightweight Osprey Pack
After looking through a variety of different packs for my two week backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevada's, I landed on this pack as a great lightweight choice. In fact, it would be my best recommendation for a lightweight pack from Osprey. It holds more form than their UL series and overall is the best fit for longer lightweight trips. While not the lightest pack, its a great choice for something light and reliable. Its a pretty spacious pack, the stretchy material helps you pack every last piece of gear in your pack. It was a tight fit, but I fit 11 days worth of gear in this pack (with a resupply in the middle). The back suspension keeps your back aired out (as much as that is possible) and helps distribute the weight. I wear a S and am 5'2, and it fit just fine. I like how deep and secure the waterbottle holders feel. I only wish that the hip belt had pockets, its a real bummer that they dont. I tend to keep easy access items/snack in those pockets. Other than that, this is a trusty pack for those longer summer expeditions. Love this pack and cant wait to bring it on more trips in the future!

Great Pack, Extremely Comfortable
I bought this pack for a month-long trip to the Khumbu area of Nepal. I hiked the Three High Passes trek, which is a more difficult and involved version of the hike to Everest Base Camp, and I hiked in from the town of Salleri/Phaplu instead of the typical flight to Lukla, which tacked three days onto both ends of the journey. This pack exceeded every expectation I had and then some. The tensioned back panel made it feel like I was carrying no weight at all, and it made the pack so utterly comfortable that hiking was actually fun! I have never been a fast hiker, and the fact that somehow I was, at 16,000 feet, overtaking other hikers and their Sherpa guides, I credit to this pack and how easy it felt to carry. Other things: the interior pocket was super-useful for storing my journal and other important documents for traveling. I took the brain off, which I do with all of my packs, so I was very pleased that the pack came with a little flap underneath to cover the exposed hole. It turned the pack into something of a rucksack which I appreciated. I was able to take my water bottles out of the side holders and put them back in without taking the pack off, which was extremely convenient. The bottle holders are super stretchy and have an opening on the side closest to the body, as well as the top. Great design! Lastly, I can look straight up with the pack on, i.e. lean my head all the way back, which I know is greatly due to the small size of the pack rather than any real design feature. Still, I appreciated it. My only real complaints are the fact that it didn't come with hip-belt pockets. Those would have been convenient. Also the design is such that the pack expands a great deal more at the top than at the bottom. This lead to it being top-heavy most of the time, and I'm not sure if this is an avoidable problem. Still, I'd say that the upsides of this pack far outweigh the downsides, and I will definitely be using it again for my backpacking adventures. By the way, I am 5'1" and bought a size small, it fits quite well.

EJA Series-Love this pack!
I was given this product from Backcountry, but this review is my personal opinion! I absolutely love this Eja pack. I have many osprey packs, but have to say this is one of my favorites. I have used this EJA pack exclusively since it arrived. I have climbed 4 peaks with it, and overnighted with it 3 times. It has been with me on scree, boulders, ice, snow, and muddy conditions, and held up great. What I love about it, is the lighter weight, fit and comfort. I was a little concerned at first with the smaller strap size, but they have held up with loading down this pack for a several overnight trip, with climbing gear no problem. I also love the deep pockets on the sides. I haven't had that in any of my packs before! It fit crampons, gloves, and my picket all in the same pocket. One of Osprey's genius designs on the pack, (that it took me about the 3rd time using it before I realized what it was intended for), is the pole storage that is by the front strap. The poles fit securely by your arm straps- so if you are going from one terrain to another, say for example over boulders, and need to store them quickly- you can do it simply without the hassle of taking off your pack. Once you are back on terrain where you need your poles, presto they are in easy reach, and away you go! It is also hydro pack compatible. It doesn't come with it, but can be ordered separately. I purchased one for it, and was thankful for some of our longer hikes in with limited water supplies. Another nice feature, if you will be using it to overnight, is the top lid detaches. Makes a great pillow once stuffed with a down jacket or extra clothing. You can also leave it off if you are going on a day hike, and don't need to extra room. All in all I have been really happy with the durability, size comfort and features of this pack. I chose the blue color, and a size medium. I am roughly 5'7

I purchased this pack for a first time backpacker. Not only is this pack super lightweight, but it's also the perfect size for one or two nights. The mesh back panel appears to allow breath-ability. The gel cushions on the shoulders and hip pads makes the pack extremely comfortable. This pack is super lightweight and makes the trekks easier and quicker over rough terrain. It's been a great pack as an introduction to over night backpacking experiences.
