We appreciate the Daylite Carry-On 40L Duffel because—in typical Osprey form—they took the classic carry-on design and integrated a handful of clever technical features for improved function. Our favorite features are the deployable backpack straps that come in handy if we need to run between terminals to make a connection, plus the whole bag collapses down for easier storage between trips.

I've been a huge fan
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been a huge fan of Osprey brand for a while now. It's the only brand of bags I buy. I own quite a few of the different backpack - from Quasar (my EDC for work and travel, Farpoint 40L - my one bag travel carry-on, Transport, Heritage and more). I like their sling bags too and really love the Remnants Packable Daypack that shrinks down to a little pouch. That is lifesaver when you are in Europe and they weigh carryon. I was surprised how well built the 40 duffel with wheels. Love the color green, and the zippers are top notch. I was able to fit a lot using my compression travel cubes. Biggest reason I bought the wheeled duffel was it's easy to pull especially when I'm transferring for connecting flight (don't have to lug weight on my back - getting older) that I have to walk miles to get the other side of the airport terminal. Best of all, the optional backpack attachment is ingenious. This helps when you are traveling in Europe with tons of cobblestone, or in Asia when you're island hopping onto boats after boats. I highly recommend.

Love that you can use
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love that you can use it as a backpack and roller as needed. One of the lightest rolling bags to help maximize your weight allowance to pack your items. Materials are good quality. Not sure if they could do it for future designs, but one addition that would make this bag perfect is to add a hip belt when in backpack carry mode!

This is our 6th Osprey
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is our 6th Osprey wheeled duffel and 3rd Osprey wheeled carry-on. This model complies with the international 22" limit and has a double post handle which facilitates stacking a second bag when schlepping through airports . Our other Osprey roll duffels have single post handles which cause stacked bags to rotate and fall. Lightweight construction (about 5 lbs) as an asset which allows packing my camera and computer gear without exceeding 22 lb (10 kg) international airline limits.

Put approximately + 26k miles
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Put approximately + 26k miles on trip to Africa. Carried on for all airline flights and transfers. Looks brand new. I was amazed at how much I could fit in it. The zippers and handle were bomb proof . Didn't use the backpack straps but did try them on and adjust fit. Very comfortable. My only issue was with the interior compression straps. The stationary strap was so short it kept falling into the bag and t was difficult to fish out every time you added something. Quite annoying. I heartily recommend this pack for overall quality. BTW, I noticed Osprey products all over Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Heathrow airports. I would not hesitate to recommend Osprey to anyone traveling, hiking, or Backpacking.

Warning! Backcountry ships used products
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
We received beat up, used luggage with missing backpack straps. If this is how Osprey’s products fare in the warehouse, then it’s a poorly constructed bag. We could’ve begrudgingly overlooked the stains, pet fur, chunks of missing plastic, and large scuffs, but the missing straps disabled the bag’s best functionality. Our credit card has been charged for a replacement and we have to drive it to a FedEx location. Be warned that Backcountry lacks quality control and this responsibility will fall onto the customer.

Great Bag
I bought this bag for my weeklong trip to France so that once I checked in, I could roll my bag and get the load off of my back. The website says that the bag fits carry on standards, but when I measured it, it measured 22.5” which is half an inch larger than the stated standards. At the sizer at the airport, it was within specs in the other 2 dimensions. However, the benefit of the backpack straps on this bag is that when they were looking for rolling bags to check in for a full flight to O’Hare, I just put the bag on my back and was never questioned. On the return flight at the Paris airport, the check in agent asked to see my bag, said ok, then asked my wife if she would like to check her backpack. It fit easily in every overhead bin on the 4 planes we traveled on. In France we almost exclusively used public transportation and is was nice to be able to put this pack on my back to allow me to better handle my larger checked bag through the subway, RER, trains and the streets of Paris and Strasbourg. It handled well when I rolled it through the airport and on the less congested streets while walking to our hotels. It held a fair amount of gear. After I rolled it a bit, the stuff settled enough that I was able to stuff my XL hoodie into the full bag once I got to the airport. The double pole handle allowed me to strap my messenger bag on top as I rolled my way around the airport. A single pole handle would not have held the other bag as securely. One thing I did was to put a loop of paracord on the top handle so that I could use the Velcro strap wrap to hold the handles together and onto the loop to keep the straps high off of the ground while rolling the bag around throughout the trip. When I needed to put the bag on my back, all I had to do was undo the Velcro and put the bag on my back. This also allowed me to pack more gear because the front pocket didn’t have the straps tucked in and I was able to leave the straps attached the whole time for quicker, easier switching between carry modes. After I took my camera out for security, the duffle bag straps allowed me to carry the bag away flat without the load shifting, allowing for easier replacement into the bag away after the screening area. Overall, quite pleased with this bag and how it handled. I almost didn’t bring it because of all of the reviews that said it’s too big. I read all the reviews I could find and they all said, it’s too big for carry on, or it worked fine, with none really stating how well it got through the bag checkers, so I wanted to share my experience. It is half an inch taller than specs, but I never had an issue. The last people to board my last flight had a bag that wouldn’t even fit in most of the bins on the plane, so there are people getting on the plane with larger bags.
