Ariel AG 65L Backpack

When Osprey designers engineered the multi-day Women's Ariel AG 65 Backpack, they included everything learned from 20 years of building and testing packs specifically geared towards the female anatomy. That, combined with futuristic Anti-Gravity technology, brings you a pack that truly sets the bar for technical backpacking. Anti-Gravity suspension lifts the pack off your back, enhancing airy ventilation and a body-wrapping fit free of pressure points, and is supplemented with padded air mesh straps for a plush load stabilization that won't leave you soaked in perspiration on warmer days. Then, the IsoForm waist-belt can be heat molded for an even greater customized fit.

To improve convenience and efficiency on the trail, Osprey equipped the Ariel with a top-loading design and large J-zip front panel to grant easy access to deeply buried layers while you're on the trail. Then, it added a detachable top lid that doubles as a summit pack when you need something to carry water, lunch, and a camera to the summit. A front panel can be used to bring along a light rain jacket or sleeping pad, while multiple straps along the front of the Ariel secure everything from ice axes to trekking poles.

  • Spacious, innovative pack for demanding weekend missions
  • 65-liter capacity is ideal for weekend-long backpacking trips
  • Anti-Gravity suspension removes painful pressure points
  • Hydration-compatible with external bladder sleeve
  • Removable top lid doubles as a small day pack
  • Separate sleeping bag compartment with divider
  • Trekking and ice tool attachment loops

Comfy with Great Back Support

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Fit:
True to size

Very comfortable pack and fits perfectly. The back is very breathable when you're sweating and it perfectly fits around waist while providing enough support despite my full pack weight (25-30 lbs) depending on food/water supply. Also, the grey color on this is gorgeous!

Comfortable and Supportive

Recently rented this pack for my girlfriend to use on a backpacking trip in the Uintas. She normally likes to downplay the value of great gear, often touting that she can handle big hikes with any old pack (and trust me, she can!), so it was really fun to hear when she couldn't stop talking about how great this bag is the whole trip. - She found the straps fit very comfortably and were very supportive of the weight, making the pack feel lighter than it actually was. - The ease of entry into all of the compartments of the pack is a huge plus - Cool Feature: removable "brain" that can be used as a daypack 10/10, would definitely recommend

Totally functional!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I used this pack on a recent hut trip. It comfortably fit my sleeping bag and all my clothes, plus some other sundries that my partner didn't want to pull on the sled. I borrowed the pack and one thing I noticed is that bottom part of the material was ripped, despite this being a fairly new pack. I was surprised to see this, though I know this pack has been put through the wringer. The other thing I noticed is that I had a really really hard time manipulating the drawstrings and buckles in the cold. Granted, it was 15 degrees outside, but I had to take off my liners to try and figure out how to get into the pack. Overall, I felt this pack was totally functional, but it had a few too many bells and whistles for my liking. If you're into that kind of thing, then this would is a great pack for you!

Hey Maggee - thank you for the review. Osprey's All Mighty Guaranty will take care of any issues, 100%, no matter what happened. Please allow Osprey to take care of you! Leta Osprey Rep

Overall It Fits It All

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Love this pack. It has ample space to fit everything I need on an adventure and my favorite feature is the top lid turns into a daypack. Super handy. I found the pack to be comfortable but definitely had to do a lot of adjusting initially. But now I have it dialed in and it is perfect.

Thanks Christine - This is my #1 go to in the Osprey line, and I can pretty much use any of them. Excellent choice! Happy Trails, Leta Osprey Rep

One Pack to Do It All

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

I just got this for my girlfriend. It's the perfect pack for backpack camping. There's plenty of storage throughout, and has a very comfortable suspension system. The best part of this pack is that it can be loaded from the top, or the front so you don't have to rummage through your entire pack for the one thing at the bottom. Another cool feature is the detachable day pack on top. It folds out of a semi hidden compartment but just takes a little investigation to get it all set up. I'd definitely recommend this pack to any lady looking for a high quality backpack that will do it all.

Thank you for the review, Samuel! Leta Osprey Rep

Uncomfortable

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Am I an anomaly? Are my hips wildly out of wack? Am I wincing in pain putting this pack on? Am I a bad person for hating this pack? I think the answer to all of those are possibly yes. I used this pack for a 5 day backpacking trip to the Bob Marshall and I didn't end a day without bruises on my hips. I bought the right size for the center back length as well as my hips. Anything larger I would have swam in. I don't know if my issue was a break in problem or what but the way the hip straps are angled in didn't work with my body. I winced every time we took a break and I had to put my pack back on. I could never get it comfortable even with loosening the hip straps. It was like the were there to pinch, squeeze, and torture my hips. That's my biggest gripe with the pack. Outside of it being entirely miserable to wear, it did have some upsides: + great side pockets that let me carry my coffee thermos, water bottle, bear spray, and tent poles with easy access to bear spray and hydration as needed. +brain that turns into a tiny backpack! My favorite piece of gear I brought on my last big trip was my stuffable 18L pack. It's so nice it's integrated on this one +DURABLE. I whacked a good number of branches across the pack and dead dropped it onto the ground a number of times. The pack was 43 pounds, I couldn't help it!

Amazing

Ample space to fit everything, the removable top lid is great as a small backpack and it is easy to remove and replace. Nice design and color, very comfortable to wear.

Comfortable

This is a comfortable pack with lots of features. I demoed this in a small, for my son, who is just 14 and only 5'5. I think he could have used the XS. But, it still worked for him and he didn't complain about the fit. The daypack in the lid is really awesome, which we used a lot. He was able to fit all the gear he needed for a 3 night trip, with plenty of room to spare for added things like a speaker or camp lights. The 65 liter is the sweet spot between a big pack and an over night summer backpack.
