Powder is best served in the morning.

Sometimes you wake up to a winter wonderland, but have to work have work in a few hours. You can sneak a few hours of glorious powder playing before then, and the Ortovox Powder Rider 16 Backpack is perfect for your pre-work dawn patrols. This backpack boasts a small capacity suitable for quick jaunts in the backcountry, dawn patrols, and even days on-piste, if you're into that sort of thing. There's a separate compartment designed specifically for avalanche safety gear, and the stowable net secures your helmet when you're skinning. The Powder Rider features a diagonal ski carry, and its back access lets you grab or stow layers without taking the skis off.

    Returned--too big for day tripping

    • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

Returned this product bc it's too big for day tripping or short excursions if you only want to bring a light jacket and a snack and water for you and your pooch. But it was very difficult to let go of...absolute work of art. The tapered seams are really quite excellent. Will be ordering a smaller one. Decided to write this review bc it's been somewhat difficult to figure out what size is right. So, for those similarly challenged, I'm pretty sure I could fit five days worth of summer clothes in this pack and still have room for a deck of Rex Bars. Suggestion to Backcountry - showing all backpacks on models would make the purchase decision easier.
