This is a superb backcountry skiing/mountaineering pack. The removable frame is key to using it as a summit bag on longer, multi-day missions and you roll it up and stow away until you are actually skiing/summiting. I'm very hesitant about zippers on packs as they break and usually at the worst time (e.g., the old Lowe-Alpine contour packs were great, but that zipper always failed), but at least here, the zipper on the pack is robust.

My favorite alpine backpack.

Yep, it's a versatile pack that feel great in a colder climate. The backpack is very durable, has all the needed straps. Everything is solid. 10/10 for quality. I am not a fan of the helmet attachment placement. It's on the outer wall of the pack,so when you drop it on a rocky surface, there is a chance of breaking your helmet (say bye to your adventure then). It would be much better to place that helmet attachment on top of the head of the pack. That's the only downside. Also, the size is perfect for domestic and international flight carry-on luggage requirements. I had no problems with a fully packed backpack on my trip from NYC to Almaty, Kazakhstan and back.

Perfect for cragging and alpine climbs!
- Familiarity:

Perfect size for a full day alpine climbing or cragging. My favorite features of the pack are the J-shaped front panel access to my whole kit and the dedicated "safety" pocket where I store my first aid kit. I am an Ortovox Ambassador and received this pack to test and use.

Lighten your load
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
This is the svelter version of my all time favorite pack the peak45. This thing is trimmed down to just the essentials and you can trim it down even more if you need to. It still has a circumferential zip that makes getting to the bottom of your pack easy and enough pockets to organize your stuff without forgetting which pocket has your snacks. It carries skis, ice tools, and/or a rope on the outside no problem, and has a suspension system comfortable enough to handle when the pack is fully loaded. The material is burly and quite water resistant without weighing the pack down too much. This pack has become my go-to for fast and light alpine missions, with and without skis. I am a full time, year-round mountain guide and a member of the Ortovox North American team I received this gear to test and use.

Great alpine pack
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
After using this pack for a little over a month it has replaced a handful of others as my go-to alpine and backcountry gear hauler. Super lightweight, well designed, and durable I feel like this pack has everything I need and nothing I don't. Well done Ortovox!

Anders is there a shovel/probe pocket or are these items in the main of the pack?
