Great Fleece Jacket

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:
Medium
Height:

Weight:
145

What a great piece of clothing. The fit is spot for a medium on my 145lb frame (32"waist). The jacket is somewhat form fitting but not restrictive. This jacket breathes perfectly but also keeps the warmth in. To be honest I have already purchased another with a hood and another grid style fleece from Ortovox. This is becoming now favorite brand right next the other top names.

Poor Advertising - Great Fleece

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
M

Unfortunately, when I bought this Backcountry was using last year's promotional photos to advertise this garment. Boy was I surprised when my $190 wool grid fleece arrived not looking like the one I ordered save for it being yellow. In fact, I like the styling less on this year's model than the last. That being said I like the styling overall, and the slim fit is excellent. I would not get this if I had a belly, or were not fit in the way the model is. I have had grid fleece before and it allows for the garment to be thinner while still keeping your temperature regulated. I combine this with wool baselayers, and the Ortovox Zebru wool jacket and I have serious alpine-level insulation in what feels like a light fall form factor. You'll want to have a study outer as these thinner garments don't feel terribly robust to serious abuse.

I?ve been looking at getting a Merino Ortovox fleece for some time so when I saw this on sale I finally pulled the trigger and got it and I?m happy I did. Other than being a little thin (which I expected) this is a good quality nice looking piece. I was correct in my suspicion that I needed to go one size up as in usually a L and an XL fits nicely. Overall in satisfied!

Good Quality-Definitely a Base Layer Fit

Familiarity:
I've used it several times
Size Bought:
Large
Weight:
190

I've had good luck with Ortovox gear. Good quality and features. Once I went merino for base layers, I've never looked at synthetic again. This jacket doesn't appear to be an exception. It is a tight fitting piece best used for a base layer. I was hoping to also use this as a spring jacket but it's a little to fitted. The pictures above don't accurately portray the fit. If you'd like to use as a jacket, I would size up. I'm 6' and 190 lbs and the Large is a good base layer fit.
